VulcanoLV Idea for Rabbit Feed: Rabbits always need hay in their habitat and then fresh veggies twice a day, so maybe dry grass and veggie make 4. Also if you want to include compatibility with Wildcraft: Herbs, dry grass and 2 of those herbs/veg give 2 (they don't give many calories)

Also FYI hare taming is a mod called Cuniculture, and they don't really tame, they'll just eat out of the small troughs.

💬 VulcanoLVAuthor, Nov 10th at 7:31 AM

Infectous Yes sure, I didn't know you could tame hares. Any ideas on what you would want the feed to be crafted from?

💬 Infectous, Oct 23rd at 8:30 PM

VulcanoLV Would you ever create a mod similar to this for hares? Farming them is already a pain so being able to make my carrot stocks last longer would be great.

💬 VulcanoLVAuthor, Sep 23rd at 3:16 AM

Felniir No not at the moment, goats can eat dry grass and hay already, though if enough people want it I'll be happy to add something.

Snajper312 Hmm that does sound strange, I think I will wait until 1.20 comes out proper, or at least stable and then have a look.

💬 Felniir, Sep 14th at 10:55 AM

Are you planning to add one for goats as well ?

💬 Snajper312, Sep 3rd at 6:15 PM

I want to report something strange, like every animals(Bird like) from More animals mods, and Feverstone Wilds can eat Chicken feed, but Vanilla chicken doesn't eat that, like I left three full trough with chicken feed and there was roster and two hens, that had weight: low, byt they didn't eat any of that

💬 gndrneutralnoun, Jul 31st at 9:11 PM

So update on the cockatrices: It appears they're designed to eat from large troughs, not small troughs. So far they've been eating the chicken feed, but no "portions eaten" or "ready to lay" appears. It's entirely possible that's an issue on Feverstone's Wilds side; I was feeding them spelt grain from a large trough before, which they ate and didn't breed as well. But it'd definitely be nice to have the chicken feed be usable in a large trough for the cockatrices.

Edit: Further update: Apparently you have to tame them as chicks to be able to breed them, first. Oops! Just from a quick test the tamed adult cockatrices don't seem to be eating the chicken feed from the small trough, but I could be wrong. Edit #2: It's fine, they're eating them and laying eggs.

Thanks so much, that was fast! I'll let you know if I have any issues.

💬 Hydromancerx, Jul 31st at 2:43 AM

VulcanoLV

Please add compatiblity with FotSA: Dinornithiformes Plus. It has a bunch of flightless birds.
Thanks in advance!

💬 VulcanoLVAuthor, Jul 31st at 2:29 AM

gndrneutralnoun

Done! Let me know if there's any issues.

💬 gndrneutralnoun, Jul 30th at 8:04 PM

Hi, not to be a bother, but I'd love it if you could add compatibility for the cockatrices from Feverstone Wilds. That is all, thank you for the great mod.

💬 gndrneutralnoun, Jun 28th at 9:15 PM

I just saw! Thanks so much :)

Edit: Also you may want to report that bug to the author of the wildcraft fruits and nuts module.

💬 Falco, Jun 28th at 2:59 PM

VulcanoLV

gndrneutralnoun

Made a compatibility mod for wildcraft: fruits and nuts.

💬 Falco, Jun 27th at 6:18 PM

VulcanoLV

Chicken's don't eat this stuff, it lists a whole bunch of animals from the more animals mod, but not chickens.

I run a lot of mods, but disabling `Wildcraft: Fruits and Nuts` seems to make the chicken feed available for chickens to consume again. The other Wildcraft modules "Herbs and Spices" as well as "Trees and Shrubs" seem not to affect the chicken feed.

The problem seems to be in `\wildcraftfruit\patches\nuts-in-trough.json`

My best guess is that your patch adds the chicken feed, but then wildcraft just nukes it with the `replace`.

```json
{
"op": "replace",
"path": "/attributes/creatureDiet",
"value": {
foodCategories: ["Grain", "Protein"],
foodTags: ["fruitmash"]
},
```

you might also want to switch over to wiki.vintagestory.at/index.php/Modding:JSON_Patching#AddMerge_operation

💬 gndrneutralnoun, Jun 24th at 5:00 PM

Yes, I do.

💬 Pursec, Jun 23rd at 6:09 PM

This may be an issue from another mod patching the chickens, do you happen to run the Wildcraft fruits module?
gndrneutralnoun

💬 gndrneutralnoun, Jun 23rd at 2:29 PM

This is a great mod, but I noticed something odd on the latest version: when I put chicken feed in a small trough, it lists as being suitable feed for the animals from More Animals and the mallard ducks, but not chickens. However, I haven't been able to test if my chickens are actually eating the feed or not.

💬 VulcanoLVAuthor, Mar 24th at 4:12 AM

Hydromancerx Completely forgot termites were in the game! Its been added.

💬 Hydromancerx, Mar 21st at 4:48 PM

VulcanoLV

If you are adding worms please add termites and grubs!
Thanks in advance!

💬 VulcanoLVAuthor, Mar 21st at 9:47 AM

GreenPig Done! I want to keep this mod just related to chicken feed and I'm not very familiar with Primitive Survival, maybe ask the PS dev for a worm farm.

💬 VulcanoLVAuthor, Mar 21st at 8:58 AM

GreenPig I've never played Primitive Survival so I'll have to have a look at it, but that should be possible!

💬 GreenPig, Mar 20th at 5:24 PM

Hi! If you'll ever make a compatibility with Primitive Survival, you can add the worms as potential chicken food and maybe a worm farm.
Thank You!

💬 VulcanoLVAuthor, Mar 18th at 7:56 AM

Pallanza

Thats a good idea, I've added all the edible vegetables as recipes.

💬 Pallanza, Mar 16th at 10:09 PM

@VulcanoLV

Thanks for implementing my suggestion, if you ever want to expand on that and add additional non-grain/fruit crops that can be used to make chicken feed, I researched the various crops in Vintage Story and divided them into two groups; ones safe to feed to chickens and ones that cause health issues/kill them:

Edible

Turnips (mature plants/roots only but that isn't relevant in VS, already added by you)

Carrots

Pumpkins (use the slices instead of the entire pumpkin)

Cabbage (mature plants only but that isn't relevant in VS)

Parsnips

Toxic

Onions (will cause anemia)

Bellpeppers (everything but the fruit flesh is toxic to chickens, and the fruit isn't well liked by them anyways)

Cassava (the VS variety is the one that requires long soaking to remove cyanide concentrations and is therefore harmful/lethal to chickens, although they could eat the processed meal)

💬 Laerinok, Mar 15th at 6:43 AM

VulcanoLV

Thanks for doing it ! :)
And another thanks because I would be able to understand what you've done. I am going trying to understand how modding works. I tried to make some patches yesterday but nothing worked...

And for further updates (it doesn't need to be updated immediately as it's only is a very smal text ^^), this the french:

{
"item-chickenfeed": "Aliments pour volailles"
}

💬 VulcanoLVAuthor, Mar 15th at 4:17 AM

Laerinok Yes its intended for the feed not to spoil, I based it off the chicken pellets you'd buy at the pet store, never had that spoil unless you got water in the bag somehow.

💬 VulcanoLVAuthor, Mar 15th at 1:20 AM

Laerinok , AzuliBluespots ,

Done and done!

💬 Laerinok, Mar 14th at 4:53 PM

I was thinking the same thing than AzuliBluespot, but with ducks too from The Critter's Package 😅
Moreover I noticed that chicken feed doesn't spoil over the time whereas other feed does. Is it intended ?

💬 AzuliBluespots, Mar 14th at 4:23 PM

I know this is for chickens, but why not expand it to "birdfeed" and make it compatible with other small bird mods like "more animals"? There's pheasants, turkeys and more in there. Great idea btw.

💬 VulcanoLVAuthor, Mar 14th at 7:49 AM

Pallanza Done! Let me know if the numbers feel balanced, I'd like to add a config file in the future so people could just adjust the numbers themselves but I still gotta learn that so 🤷‍♂️.

💬 Pallanza, Mar 14th at 1:33 AM

Great mod idea, do you think you can add a second recipe for the feed that uses one grain and a turnip? Turnips are another common food given to chickens alongside grains in the form of their greens and the raw whole/grated tuber, and they're healthier for chickens compared to an all flax-diet which we can already do in base game.

💬 Bognof, Mar 13th at 7:06 AM

great mod thank you for making this. I was just wonder if you could make chicken spear im having a hard time finding flint
