Latest release (for outdated Vintage Story v1.20.3):
ButcheringPatch_1.0.4.zip
1-click install
changed every FotSA fully rotten meat that is added to this mod (so the list below) to rotten chicken, it prevents crashing the game after the meat goes bad
Adding missing butchering patches to a few FotSA mods:
https://mods.vintagestory.at/sirenia
https://mods.vintagestory.at/spheniscidae
https://mods.vintagestory.at/felinae
https://mods.vintagestory.at/elephantidae
https://mods.vintagestory.at/vombatidae
Fixed aptornithidae in the dinornithidae mod, the patch in the original mod is wrongly applied so the animals were not "butcherable".
And added a few missing translations.
Added compat for https://mods.vintagestory.at/somethinginthewater (sunfish, shark, megalodon)
Added https://mods.vintagestory.at/medievalexpansionpatch compatibility
Enjoy!~

"Do you think you could make a patch for the Legacy of the Phanerozoic series?"
Icejohn Have you tried continuing the butcher the body on the table after the blood drains? I've found I usually get the pelts from FotSA animals at that point in the process, which isn't right but seems to be how it works.
did some testing, have skinned about 18 or so elephants on all types of hooks and have yet to recieve a pelt so far, i understand that you wont always get a pelt but after about 20 i would expect at least 1. manual skinning did give a pelt 2/5 elephants

Hey! I am the author of that mod you reference there. By default, Butchering has this with Medieval Expansion, but not with the patch. What propaneko has done here is reapply the same official support but referecing the Medieval Expansion Patch's modid. This mod does not use the auroch model throughout the butchering process, but rather a generalized model to allow functionality (part of the official support). You can use this no problem, but will see the general model. I am unsure what will happen if you use both at the same time as it will depend on mod load order.
When you say "added medieval expansion patch compatibility", does this mod do exactly the same thing as https://mods.vintagestory.at/show/mod/18673 ? If so, then I can replace that one with this for my playthrough.
Thank you kindly!
Hey! Sorry for the long wait on a reply, forgot to log back into my modDB. Anyway, I think what was happening was an incompatibility between a mod we had installed, as I went through and did a big wipe of a bunch of unused mods and it started working again. Unfortunately I don't know what mod did it.
propaneko
Ah yes! I see it now. I just saw the error code and assumed it hadn't changed. It says this now for all the sea creatures:
RosstheGreat that's weird, I was able to do it without any issue.
Cuddly_Khan hmm it looks like its there
It looks like you forgot to fix the rotten stuff for the Something in the Water animals
Sorry! I meant you flat out can't pick them up when you kill them. The mammoth can only be harvested in the "Traditional" way with a knife and right clicking.
RosstheGreat weird just tested it and it works. Have you tried to destroy the hook and put it again?
Hey! apparently mammoth (Columbian Mammoth specifically) can't be put on the hook with 1.0.4
fyi getting server warning about game version, all seams to work fine just letting you know in case your not aware.
26.1.2025 09:50:36 [Warning] [butcheringcompatpatch] Dependency 'game': Failed parsing version string '1.20.x' at index 5: Expected PATCH version number, found 'x' (best guess: 1.20.0-x)
Yeah I think I have two options after testing. Changing every rotten animal/meat that this mods add to rotten chicken (something vanilla) or change it to the rotten meat from FotSA Caninae mod
(but it would then REQUIRE you to use caninae mod), cause it doesnt crash the game. No idea why it happens, maybe there is something hardcoded into the dll of butchering for the modded animals.
So if the animals patched by this rot on hooks it crashes? Good to know. I'll make sure to avoid letting that happen haha
propaneko The mod works until an animal rots on a hook. I had an elephant rot on my hook and when I took it up lights lit up all across the board and I crashed repeatedly. I had to disable the mod entirely to get in and throw it out of my inventory so it could despawn.
mod is working just reporting so it known.
bringitonwimps those are warnings, not errors, mods should still work
not sure if the error is cause of the patch or the base mod, and idk the situation of the author as he said pc was dieing.. so im leaving this in both mods as comment in case it helps

Cuddly_Khan done :P
Is compatibility for Something in the Water something that you might consider? Would love to be able to hang up a shark on a butchering hook, even if it doesn't have the shark model.
