Features:
All species have a unique pelt that can be used to craft hide, feathers and a taxidermied full body. Eggs in this pack can be hit to drop an item form that can be used in recipes, though it will reset their generation count. Eggs must be in entity form to hatch.
And a big thanks to everyone who gave feedback and assistance!
Known Bugs: The water behavior toggle currently isn't working, so penguins will often perform land behaviors in water. As such, they are currently set to head to land immediately after spawning. This will be changed when this base game feature is finalized.
A: Get a male and female adult of a given species within 10 blocks, wait until the female is ready to mate and feed her the sufficient number of portions and the male at least one. Different species require different amounts and can be found in the entity file under the multiply section. Animals can be fed either by dropping items on the ground or by using the large trough. The small trough is not supported at this time due to patching formats. Each species diet can be found in this mod's description or in their entity file under the diet section. After 10 generations, entities stop attacking the player and after 10 generations they will no longer flee the player. Only the mother's generation matters for progressing generations.
Q: Why so many animal packs? Can't you make one giant one?
A: The combined size of this series exceeds the Mod data base's file upload size limit and therefore could not be hosted on this site, making it extremely difficult for servers to use. What's more, I don't know just how large certain clade file sizes will get as new features come out and I want to ensure they don't need to be split in the future, as that may cause considerable server issues. Whenever mod packs are implemented, or if there are other resources for creating a more organized bundle, I will do so.
Q: Is this mod safe to add and remove to an existing world?
A: Yes, this mod series is safe to add and remove. Items from this mod that have been placed will be invisible or appear as question blocks if the mod is removed but can be safely broken.
They can be, check the FAQ in the future as I have the domestication section in mods that have domesticatable animals
Can they be domesticated?
Thanks for the quick response, i can't seem to get them to pick the fish up off the ground either, i'm specifically working with the macaroni penguins. I totally get not having time, im just thankful to have penguins lol. I'm not sure if it would save you time or not but expanded foods has a dry fish mash that can go into troughs, might be something to look into. Regardless thanks for your mods, they're a big highlight on the server and everyone loves running into some new animal.
They should be able to eat base game fish meat dropped on the ground as an item. I have considered making a stand alone mod for putting meat in troughs, but haven't found the time Pigfisher
i can't seem to get the penguins to eat, am i supposed to use just vanilla raw fish or is there something specific because that can't go in a large trough. Please help i want to be penguin rancher so bad lol, were using version 1.0.5
No plans to add the Great Auk at the moment, but it is a cool animal!
Nice stuff, have you considered adding the Great Auk as another animal to this? Since I've noticed you cover other extinct animals in your mods. Even if the Auk isn't technically a "Penguin". It'd be a nice nod to a bird that's rarely seen otherwise.
You'll need to drop them on the ground nearby, they can pick up food items off the ground
:O that's sick! do you just put raw fish in a trough?
Yes, you need to breed them, the foods of all my animals are listed in their stats sheet, they produce eggs! MaiaK
Hi there! I'm curious how to and if it's posible to domesticate them? What do they require? Do they produce eggs?
I think they are too loud. I wiped them out near my base. But I can see, you are aware of it. Good. I like your Fauna mods.
I suspect my headphones were the key factor, because the sounds didn't seem that loud to me until I got new ear cushions 😆
The fairy penguins height is currently at 30cm or 12 inches, near the bottom of their height range, plus their animations have them leaning forward. I'm not inclined to recalculate their movement speeds, but I'll consider it.
Glad to hear you're enjoying them!
Good to see you're planning to tweak the sound, but I'd like to throw my hat in the ring!
I absolutely love fairy penguins (aussie little blue penguins) and noted that they are EXTREMELY tiny in-game - I'm not sure about the scales for the other penguins by comparison, but fairy penguins are about 13-15 inches in height, which basically puts them slightly above human (or Seraph's) ankle. Probably closer to the middle of the shinbone.
Otherwise, I friggin' squealed with delight on finding out that my home base is a natural home for these precious guys. Just.. looking forward to not hearing dozens of stone-shattering feet plaps soon. That audio balancing issue also persists with a few of your other stone age series animals as a head's up!
Yeah, penguins are crazy loud irl. I have an audio range tweak coming to bring it down, as I'd set it to the louder penguins irl range but for all of them, should be more accurate to the mid sized penguins soon
These things are super loud.
installing this mod is great because i see these cute penguins. i will never hurt you little guys!
Do you mean the head mounts? I'm seeing that the dogs all have some incorrect GUI rotations, but the rest are looking right to me
The mounts dont seem to have models loaded into the game in 1.20 for pretty much all the animals
Thanks Yelb and Toccata!
As for elephantidae, they are one of the 62 remaining animal packs I'd like to do!
Hello, loving your mods ! Any chance for very large animals, like Elephantidae mammoth-ish ?
Just wanted to say you're a real one for adding support for combat overhaul!!
Glad you're all enjoying it!
And there are tons of cool extinct penguins out there Annastasija! Would be happy to let a modder use my assets to make extinct animals further back before my project's timerange, I'm mostly sticking to the Holocene with a few hundred years wiggle room in rare circumstances
There are lots of cool extinct penguins out there, like the Inkayacu, or The great Auk. Also that prehistroic one, Palaeeudyptes klekowskii was 7 feet tall, that would be scary lol
Amazing, thanks for the new release!
You do such amazing things. I love it.
Thanks Brick! And I have no plans to do non-avian dinosaurs. Though I try to help dinosaur modders whenever they pop up
Tentharchitect
Hello! I am greatly impressed by your work on animal packs and its quality. I am curious, do you have any plans on making dinosaurs packs?
Elephants are one of the 62 remaining animal packs I'd like to do, though no promises on where in the order it'll come out
are you going to make one for elephants since you have rhinos?
You can indeed! The king babies are big fluffers
Can I have a baby Pesto now?
WOOO!! PENGUINS!!! You're the MAN!!! WOO!!!
THANK YOU!!!
(praying for bovines next but take your time king)
PENGUINS!!!! 😍😀😀😁 I am now very very happy! I would hug you if I could!!
