I know we'll PROBABLY have an update eventually, since Lich has shown interest in that, but does it work as-is at all?

yes, I will be focusing on decoration. Like the chairs, tent, and tables. I want to add more, since there does not seem to be any other mods focusing on this :)

I really liked your idea with an awning in fashion
I would like to comment a little, there are not enough blocks like the roof slab and in general the tent feels painfully dense without a thousand holes in it
Deer are nicely done and something similar will be added in 1.19
So now the fashion is moving to a purely decorative one?

T_R_O_L_E --- yes my mod is definitely cuasing that conflict. Will be fixed when I update.
My plans of the update is removing the animals and shifting the focus towards stone age decorative blocks.
Why remove the animals? Because Tentharchitect is making significantly better animals, and in large quantity.

More than happy to leave the animals to someone who knows what they're doing, lol. Their animal mods are stunning.
I will be patching my mod to support their mods going forward.
Found a conflict with Nat's Survival Expanded mod
The ability to extract flint by hand and with the help of a paxel disappears. Only in the vanilla way
Been using this on 1.18.1 and it mostly seems to work.
It throws a few errors in the logs about the antler arrows and the antler knives (which I can craft blades for but can't actually make), but everything else I've seen/crafted in many hours of play works as intended (I think bears might be ignoring deer?).

Yeah I'm thinking it's probably an interaction with Medieval Expansion (It patching Lichen, or somesuch like @Lich said). I don't want to start a new world right now though and I suspect removing Medieval Expansion from an existing one would cause all kinds of issues, so for the time being I'll just stick with the previous version of Lichen
All good for me for 2 different saves that I updated the mod manually Lich & Liefy
I wonder if Medieval Expansion was patching my mod, that would explain the behavior. That would ultimately be something outside of my control, however.
As far as config files go -- if it's something I can do purely with .json, sure, i'll try to figure out how, but not guarentees.
Does anyone uses Lichen with Wildcraft Trees? The same kind of fence is in there but with different materials. I wonder if they interact well.
Would there be a way to control spawn rates from a config file? Is that a feature you would consider implementing?
@Edel_Recke Yeah, that's one I've got. I didn't know it caused issues with Lichen though. Wonder if it's got compatibility issues with anything else...
@Liefy: do you use Medieval expansion by Rhonen? i got very bad issues colliding with Lichen
Made a new world for 1.17.10, so no version jumping there. Updated from v1.6.1 of Lichen. I admit with the modlist I'm using items getting shuffled around into other items has been an issue before, so it's potentially related. Have had to fix stuff twice already and didn't want to do it a third time just for a relatively minor update. I can give you my modlist, if you like, since it's probably something in there causing the issue. Previous item shuffling experiences were related to In Dapped Groves, both adding and later removing it (due to incompatibility issues) caused it to happen.
Liefy That's very strange, were you version jumping? What game version did you update from, and what version of lichen did you update from? Due to how the game IDs work, that's not something that should happen. It's not like early modded minecraft where everything is attributed to a limited amount of numbers in game, so adding or removing mods will shuffle that very destructively -- VS uses a named ID system so everything has their own unique names and cannot be confused for each other. Considering my mod is JSON only (aka no extra code, just using the code of the base game to add in more content) it shouldn't have the capacity to do anything weird. I wouldn't think it was Lichen causing this...
had no issues with the update
It shuffled a bunch of stuff around for me, reverting fixed it. Antler picks turned into tines, for instance. Stuff from outside the mod was affected too but I didn't pay attention to specific items for the most part. I am using a multitude of other mods too, though.

what stuff? I didn't change any item IDs. Are you talking antlers/tines on shelves/on the ground? Just pick them up and replace them.
Seems like it's not safe to update mid-save, oof. Doesn't *break* anything, but item IDs are shifted around and stuff transforms because of it.
Thanks for the response, Lich. It must be a conflict with another mod, but I have no idea which one it could be. We use a pretty substantial modpack on our server so I guess it's hunt and peck until I find it.

PeterSanderson Pattern code N is not even in those recipie jsons so I don't understand how you're getting that error and I'm not getting it on 1.17 when I test so I really don't know what to tell you man lol.
Not sure how to track down the issue, but on my 1.17.9 server, I can no longer build the bent wood furniture- anyone else?

question here! So i have a lot of problems with the lack of sticks since everything uses so much of it, so sometimes i use bones as handles for knives and the like, is it possible to use bones to craft the knife made from the antlers of deer?

Is there any reason it wouldn't work in 1.17?
One of the first things I went looking for was a wattle fence, so it's a bonus for me that this mod also has deer and an early-game pickaxe! The wind chimes are amazing, too. I hope this gets updated! In the meantime, I have a separate install of VS just so I can play with this. :3

redownload if it's not showing up in your game, apparently VS is wildly specific about its versioning and doesn't accept "1.16.0" but rather wanted "1.16.0-pre.8"

As these were just meant to be tent themed decor blocks with just this mod alone, they are essentially meant for a static setup, yes. 😅
However, the mod-maker of Useful Stuff made a "tent bag" that can be configured in size in the config to carry a tent! Check it out. :)

@Eisenwulf I second this! Placing the blocks is so finiky it makes it horribly inefficient for anything other than a static base setup.
What this mod needs (IMO) is a tent tutorial video.
Please consider making one.

For some reason with the new update, 1.4.0, none other items or blocks showed up. The wattle fences that I previously placed showed us the untextured question block.
I love the Tents! They are perfect for building little scouting/hunting shacks. Such quality. Can't wait to see what else you add.
