Adds two new food preserving blocks for long term food storage. They require no maintenance and will always work at their full potential and will only be affected by regional food spoilage rates, great for dedicated servers.
Heres my patreon if you'd like to support me: Patreon
The two new containers are:
Ice Box- Preserves food at the following rates:
- Vegetables-50% slower decay
- Grains-75% slower decay
- Fruits-75% slower decay
- Proteins-50% slower decay
- Dairy-75% slower decay
Salt Box- Preserves food at the following rates:
- Vegetables-75% slower decay
- Grains-50% slower decay
- Fruits-50% slower decay
- Proteins-75% slower decay
- Dairy-50% slower decay
Each box has 8 slots, the same as the basket.
The best food storage in vanilla being the clay storage vessel, only has a reduced rate of 75% vegetables, and 50% for grains
The decay values can be improved further by putting the blocks in a cellar, food items with no category currently decay at their standard rate.
Includes sounds, animations and custom models for the blocks:

Would love to see this customizable or 2x as effective.
After further experimentation, raw redmeat and raw bushmeat in the salt box end up being preserved no better than any other container, but salted meat is preserved far longer in the salt box. For some reason, the game doesn't recognize the raw versions as protein? This sucks, because it means those meats still only last several days no matter where you put them. But if you find the halite to make this box, you can combine those meats with ground up halite to preserve them far longer. Luckily, you can cook meals with salted meats (not bushmeat though), they just loose a little sat. If I find a way to make raw meats last longer I'll update, but I haven't found anything yet.
Doesn't seem to seem to work with meat, but works with everything else. Meat spoilage remains unaffected in the saltbox. Looking for a workaround.
Still working good. 👌
this mod will work in 1.19+??
As far as I know, the mod still work on 1.18.15
Any chance of an update? Is this mod still working? It seems lovely
Does this mod work to preserve already made foods? Like pies and cooked meats? Or is it just for the raw ingredients?
it would be cool if the boxes had an ice or salt slot that needs to have ice or salt in to get these numbers.
maybe 1 ice last 1 day if the cellar is not well made or 4 days if it's.
Does this work with 1.17.10? :D
l33tmaan Yeah I have, but I just dont have the skills in c# yet to code it in. I was actually just thinking about adding a "temporal fridge" as a possible addon that would halt spoilage at the cost of materials and storage space for people who play on servers. I would probably end up implementing an extra slot in the gui or perhaps as an alternate gui if its easier that you fill up with salt or ice and the temporal one could run off the local temporal stablilty once I figure out how to do all of that.
A fantastic mod. Ever thought about making a version that requires maintenance?
Works fine in 1.16, should work through most major version changes in the future.
Travisplo, If your looking for a mod with that exact funtionality ZEEkea has a freezer that operates like that but also a bunch of other stuff, also I think medieval expansion has a similar ice thing for cellars, I just wanted to make a standalone/no-maintenance version of a food storage container for my own preference.
Leave it to you to make another amazing mod.
I honestly love the models they instantly caught my eye cause of how well detailed they are.
Great work! I am so going to try this. I will report any bugs etc.
Interesting idea, though it might be interesting if you could also make "fueled" version, in which you add Ice or Salt into them to keep them "running" at full efficiency.
