This mod has been discontinued due to the following issues:
1) It does not accomplish the goal it was designed to accomplish
2) There are countless glitches which will delete your items
3) There are equal amounts of glitches which duplicate your items
4) Bugs cannot be simply fixed with patches or updates
5) Foundational design rot: it's fundamentally bad
6) The mod simply isn't fun or intuitive

I'm keeping the download up but until there's a complete redesign, i'm classifying this is discontinued

Q&A

What is this?
It's a pouch.

So what's it do?
It's just like a normal inventory but with one less space

Why would I craft it then?
Here's the fun part, you can right click it to seal it

What can you do with a sealed pouch?
Put it in other inventories, of course.

Wow, that's amazing!!
I know! But it does have a drawback. Every time you unseal a pouch, it loses durability.

Oh. What happens if they run out of durability?
Nothing bad. It just becomes unsealable until you repair it on the crafting grid.

How many times can I seal the various pouches before they break?
10 for reed, 100 for pelt, 150 for linen, 200 for both leather and mining. Values subject to tweaking as needed.

And how expensive is a repair?
It's 1/3 the cost of making a new one. The mining pouch has the same repair cost as linen.

Can you put sealed pouches in other pouches?
Not really, no. They'll fit, but you can't seal pouches with sealed pouches in them.

Is it possible to program them to be nestable so you can seal pouches with pouches in them?
Easily, actually. I set up special code to prevent that from happening for balance reasons.

So what happens if I accidentally put a sealed pouch in a pouch then try to seal it?
It plays a mean sound effect at you, but otherwise nothing bad happens.

The new art is a lot better than the old art.
Yeah, they don't call it programmer art for nothing.

Who made the new pouch textures?
It was Elrick. I modified them a little bit.

I'm a modder, am I able to add my own pouchs?
No problem!! I put a lot of work in to make it so anyone can add their own pouch through JSON.

Absolutely!! Though you might want to rework the code, sound effects, and art somewhat.

How did you do the inventory colors?
It's just a JSON property, it's very easy to set. Look at the mining bag JSON for an example.

My pouch isn't sealing/unsealing, it just makes a thud at me. Why?
I had to block sealing/unsealing when the hotbar is full because of an engine glitch that deleted your items.

There are some redesign ideas I have in mind which should make the mod even better than it is today:

Instead I want to rework it so that each pouch is worth 1*tier stack points, so each stack is equal to 1 stack point, and a half stack is a half stack point etc etc (cobblestone has a stack of 64, so 1 cobblestone is a 64th of a stack point) You can put in any combination of items in as long as you don't exceed the stack value. I'm also getting rid of the "you have to put it in your inventory slot" system in favor of clicking the item into the pouch via inventory mouse and when you right click the pouch you take out the last item you put in, in order.

Had a chance to playtest the mod. Only having 10 durability on the reed pouch was not only unfun but it also made no sense compared to the rest of the balance of the mod. Now its durability scales along the progression of the rest of the pouches, being increased to from 10->50.

While I was at it I also added a modicon and finally got around to adding vanilla->pouch recipes by using the backpack and knife together.
In other words, if you are like me and made a mining backpack before the mod was created, and want to make the jump, now you can.

I forgor to add the lang files for the lumber pouch in the last update, so i've included them in this version.
EDIT: Since the reed pouch and reed-deconstruct have a similar recipe (knife and basket) put the knife over the basket to make the pouch. Anywhere else to get cattails.

Honestly only figured it out, because in the description you put right click on the world, so then I was like oh maybe it works like carrycapacity, and thats when I looked into the control settings haha. It would totally be more intuitive to just right click the slot, I got no idea if its possible or not. I hope it will be. (:

I should look into seeing if it's possible to make it function the way you described. It's clearly more intuitive and might be easier to control than having to select the hotbar slot.

@OmegaHaxors I didn't have a full hotbar though..., I had seen what you said, is it I shouldn't have anything on the hotbar? I will try the new version and see if it works. And no I was talking about as soon as I start a new save, Make a fresh pouch!, which I assume as soon as you make one it doesnt need to be repaired? because I didn't see anything indicating it was damaged x.x My problem was to make it more clear... Fresh newly created pouch, not full hotbar, put 2 items in reed pouch , pouch wont close. But I did have other mods instaled at the time and it could be interfering with ABCS so idk, Ima try the new one without any other mods and see if same problem occurs. But yes I do know how to read ^_^ 

Edit: So I just tested it again, with 0 other mods besides StepUp on, and yeah Says durability 10/10, I put 2 items in it, completely emptied my whole inventory, kept a reed basket in the first slot, Darn thing wont close acts like a regular basket :P And I was just reporting this problem so you know about it, wasn't trying to get on your nerves. and I am running 1.17.9 as well, tried it in both survival mode & wilderness mode. I really thought it might have been because of abcs cause sometimes I forget I always have that mod on haha xD but anywho (:

Edit: Oh my goodness! Ok so I saw right click, because I suppose I am an idiot because I didnt know we could actually select out backpack slots, so I had to go into control settings and find out its CTRL+1,2,3 or 4 depending on the slot, then right click! Dx

Because of a game-facing bug I can't fix, I had to make it so you can't seal or unseal a pouch if your hotbar is full.
I know it's not ideal but sadly it's the best I can do. The alternative is allow the player to potentially lose their items.
It's also possible that your pouch needs to be repaired but i'm not about to insult your intelligence by suggesting that's the case.

I wanted it to send text to the player but due to a limitation of the API that wasn't an option so I went for a sound effect instead. It's much less obvious.
But I guess I can add a warning to the lang file to better communicate the new rule, since it wasn't in previous updates.

EDIT: I'm going to edit the lang file to make it more clear since it's not explained at all anywhere else in-game.

I have the newest patch installed 1.17.9 - uninstalled all my other mods, started a fresh save, and no matter what can't close/seal the reed pouches (idk about other pouches) Idk if Im not doing something right, but I left click nothing happens and when it has stuff inside of it, it acts just like a regular hand basket and can't be placed in any other slot. :c This mod is a really cool idea though! ^_^

I had to change it because broken pouches can still hold items, they just can't be sealed.
Also redid the colors and added my own custom texturing similar to what you did in the original.
Wasn't able to fix the glitch because it's on the game's side, but I was able to work around it.

Workaround for a vanilla inventory glitch. You can no longer zip open pouchs or unzip closed pouches if there isn't a hotbar slot for them to go into.
They're supposed to either go into a valid inventory or drop as an itemstack, but for who-knows-why, if you do this to an inventory in the first slot, it deletes the item.
Since it's impossible for an inventory to know which slot it's in, you're just not allowed to do it to any of the slots. Hopefully a fix is on the way.

Eugh it was bound to happen. Pouches will delete themselves if your hotbar inventory is full. Working on a fix.
EDIT: For reasons beyond mortal comprehension, this only happens if it's the first inventory in your selection.
For now i'm just going to make a patch that prevents you from accidentally doing this, because not even God knows why this happens.
EDIT2: Amazing! You literally can't even do that because of the inventory system being a limited and flexible as a broken bone.

Just don't put your pouches into the first slot of your inventory extenders or you'll lose them.

Its alright just an old throw away Email anyway, but i agree with your saftey concern. Honestly I dont understand the first thing about modding or making a theme pack. I'm just an amature Pixel artist haha. Okay, so I think Ive found the best solution. You should be able to get them from this link. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Rq51pnfXMs5a3wqlzNSclmcZwX6ZVVzo?usp=sharing and I made it so that its as simple as swaping out the "textures" folder. I really hope this works and that you like them if not thats okay too haha. (Just tested it, works perfectly)

Yes please, though one thing that's cool is that you can upload it as your own mod (theme pack) and have this one as a dependancy.
Really i'll take anything that looks half decent over the current crap programmer art that's currently in place.

EDIT: I should probably quickly explain how theme packs work.
First you make a folder in your mods folder with the name of your theme pack, then you put a modinfo JSON with the relevant information. Optional: make a modicon png. Then you make an assets folder and inside you copy the mod's assets folder. Then you can put any edited files inside of that and it will override the assets from the original mod.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I'm kind of embarrassed that one slipped by.
