Sometimes, going out and mining is tedious, why not just grow your own ores with the temporal instability near the mantle?
Code by me, but all assets taken from the original mod, which can be found on the DB Here
Please go give some snuggles to them, as I am terrible with assets.
Currently contains a 5-stage crystal for each ore, that drops more either nuggets or the resource associated with it, as well as a decorative glass for each crystal. Each crystal will slowly grow untill it is at its final stage, in which it gets bonus drops. Crystals will grow faster the deeper they are in the world.
Does not contain the original mods 'Oblisks' or 'hearts', and does NOT affect world gen in any way.

You shouldn't need to, however, breaking and replacing the crystals will gaurented update their growtimer.
If we use this on an existing save from 1.01 would we need to replant the crystals for the new growth rate to take effect?
I finally got around to looking into the errors, can confirm that the alum and olivine are now craftable, and they should grow one stage at minimum every 12 ingame hours. Should. It works in dev. Please report issues if they arrise.
Problem is they should be growing regardless of if they are loaded, as they should be checking what time they were last loaded and compare that to current time to grow. Will look into it further.
I've managed to get it working. I thought maybe my being in Winter caused them not to grow. Still, I think it's due to them not being loaded if I'm moving too far away, and possibly the one I set up deep down was too far from me to load up as the ones I set up in the area near my base seem to grow at the same rate if not slightly slower. Thank you for your help and I apologize for any inconvenience.
Will look into the errors being reported soon TM, been a bit busy
I have the same problem as other people here, I have made a crystal cave several layers deep underground and absolutely nothing has grown, the seed crystals are still stuck at their intital stage instead of progressing into later stage. That is really unfortunate because I like the idea of being able to grow ore resources.
Hello, I love the mod too and I can confirm like CandyCaprine that the mod is fantastic in execution. Still, as they point out, those two seeds don't have to craft recipes and I have the 1.01 version, but much like R4d6, I've set up a few crystal seeds. Despite the claims below that they take 3 in-game days to grow at Sea Level, I don't know if they need sunlight or complete darkness and need to be in a "greenhouse or something during winter", but as mentioned, I've set up 3 seeds on the 96th z-Level. After 10 in-game days, they are barely at "tiny" and haven't progressed in 5 days, I set up another one on the mantle and 5 in-game days later it hasn't changed and I recently planted another one on the 10th Z-level and it's currently been 3 in-game days with no change. Is there something I'm missing? It's a great idea and I love the idea of this mod, but it seems that it doesn't seem to work for me either.
Hi, this mod is fantastic! I do have one question, however; are alum and olivine crystal seeds not meant to have crafting recipes?
I have planted crystals directly on the mantle, and even after multiple IRL days, they have not grown at all.
I will replant them and see if that fixes it, even if I planted them after the update.
If you want, I can show you screenshots on Discord.
The original mod shows the crystals growing from ore blocks. Is this how it works in your mod as well because I have a seed crystal at depths of 40 with no results.
Edit: It seems I needed to re-place them and it works now! Thank you!
Can we get some pictures of the crystals please?
An error causing gems to not grow has just hopefully been patched, users should update to 1.0.1 when possible. My bad for taking so long.
It has been a few in-game weeks, with a seed crystal in the corner of my hut, 3 blocks above sea-level, and it is still at the first stage where I can just pick it up.
@R4d6
I am aware that you need 2 crystals for 1 seed
Can be any depth to grow, takes about 3 days a stage at sea level, and lower == fasterer
Also, how deep does it need to start growing, and how long does it take to actually grow relative to depth?
The tooltip doesn't say anything.
Alright. I would like to note that one crystalized ore give you 4 crystals, but that you need 5 crystals in order to craft a seed.
R4d6 Crystalized ore has a very small chance to drop from ore blocks when mining so you have to mine until you find a crystalized variant of what you want to grow.
Oh wait, crystalized chunks are the regular stuff you mine?!
All this time I thought it was something that this mod added. But nooo, everything else just had to refer to them as "Ore Chunks", completely removing the 'crystalized part'...
No wonder I was confused...
EDIT : Wait no, I get regular chunks, not crystalized... I am more confused.
LenKagamine But... how do you get the Crystalized ore in the first place? And if this mod doesn't affect World Generation, then I can't really just "find it in the wild" like copper.
No offense, but it sounds to me like a Chicken & Egg situation. Can't start growing crystals without having a crystalized ore, but you can't make crystalized ore without having crystals.
R4d6
Crystals grow from seeds crafted with that ore and raw crystals, which your first raw crystal can come from any 'Crystalized' ore, simply Hammer ontop of Chisel ontop of Crystalized [Ore] chunk
Loop is basically:
Make Ore Crystals -> Plant underground, deep as you can -> Wait -> Harvest with chisel + hammer in offhand -> Make more Ore Crystals/process the ore.
I will probably at some point re-do the models, as I don't like the idea of just kinda taking them, and crystals will likely be more picky in the future about what they grow on/need more stuff like 'water'
I may add a handbook entry detailing this better as well.
Question : If the mod doesn't affect World-gen in any way, how are we supposed to get our hands on Crystals to turn into ores?
Beside, how does the whole gameplay loop actually work? The handbook isn't really clear on that front.
