Ok, when he gives you permission, be sure to stick it on the description of all of the parts and dm me it on discord. Since it's easier there. And once it's done and verified, you can publish the parts again.

Have you seen the Vintage Symphony mod by chance? I guess the DF soundtrack might not be varied enough to fill all possible situations, but it would give you much more control over when which individual song is supposed to play. For example, "Winter Entombs You" could be set to only play when the temperatures drop below 0 during daytime, so it would mostly play during actual winters and potentially snowy landscapes.

I play DF for 9+ years, that's what led me to stream play it on Twitch® too, as /edwinfox. One of our fortresses made it - up to Alexandra and Tarn playing it for the Halloween Contest, and we won!

That being said, I used to host Minetest (now called Luanti), a free and open-source block/voxel game/engine. Check out a mod there, called DF Caverns - it's just mind-boggling. I hope some day we have something like that on Vintage too!

That's a brilliant idea Boyarde I will absolutely have a look at adding more DF related stuff to it, like pig tails and "Underground" crops. Mushrooms would be easiest to add I think as iirc they can be grown above ground too in DF? (I don't know, I'm not a filthy knife ear! I rarely see the sun)
But further with that idea, I might be able to add other features or things from Dwarf Fortress. Whip Vine will be a priority after the basic 4 crops.

Btw another good DF adjacent mod for VS is Mushroomz, if anyone is interesting. It adds all the classic mushrooms from DF like Plump Helmets and Pigtails.

RosstheGreat DUDE YOUR MOD IS SO COOL!  Thank you so much for making it! Im gonna post it on my mod page!  Im missing 2 songs from adventure mode ost.  I have to manually convert the ost from mp3 to ogg for the audio to play on vintagestory so some things get lost in translation.  My next project is Soundsense 2012!  Ill def dm you when i get the mod put together :D

Absolute legend! I also can't wait to get the tuning cylinders. If you'd like, I know a bit of the Json modding, I can help/do the tuning cylinder setup for the songs. From what I looked at, it didn't look too bad to set them up. :D

By the way, your Part 1 mod is Client only, while all of the other mods are Client-Server, might I suggest changing that so they're all Both?
I wish to force my friends to listen to the glory of Dwarf Fortress music, because they wont play the game.


For anyone reading who hasn't played Dwarf Fortress, play it! It is one of the most amazing, and most incredibly in depth simulations ever made. Dwarf Fortress isn't a game, it's a story generator, and it's the best at it. And remember, Losing is Fun!
(It does have an incredibly steep learning curve if you want to be "good" at the "game" though, but being "good" at it is boring! 😋)

All good! Also I'm glad it adds it, every so often I much enjoy hearing some of Vintage's vanilla soundtracks.

There is currently a bug with the mod. It seems theres only 4 out of the 7 songs that will play.   Ill get it fixed in the next update! 

This mod adds music to vanila and does not replace it.  

By the way, does this *add* the music to the vanilla soundtrack? Or does it replace it?

Dwarf fortress music is hands down the best game music I've ever heard. Even old DF music was bomb. Is there any way to add these as a seperate mod to Tuning Cylinders? I have a tavern and I'd LOVE to play Drink and Industry in it with my friends! 😍
