Latest file for v1.20.1:
Cuniculture_v1.0.3.zip 1-click install

This mod makes hare farming more viable by allowing them to be fed from the small trough which can now hold dry grass, certain vegetables, and even certain wildcraft herbs if it's installed. Like other animals, hares lose their fear of the player with each generation, becoming fearless at generation 10.

The following can now be added to the small trough to feed hares.

Vanilla (Vegetables & Grass):
Dry grass(4x)
Turnip
Parsnip
Carrot
Bell Pepper
Pumpkin Slices

Wildcraft (Herbs):  (Support may return once Wildcraft updates to 1.20)
Miner's Lettuce
Sage
Thyme
Rosemary
Mint
Cilantro
Basil

Hi Aristine.  The cabbage code is broken -- it can't be placed in the small trough, however, I just fixed it.  Can I send you the fixed json file so you can update the mod?

Can you please elludidate on what you mean by "Behavior patch for hares is broken at the moment."?  What were you expecting to see that's not happening?  How does the behavior patch being broken manifest itself?

Looks like it does two things.

First, it adds foods labeled with the "grass" tag to the list of items that hares eat.

Secondly, it adds a bunch of food items to the list of things that can be placed in a small trough.  For example, carrots cannot be added to to the small trough, even though hares eat them.  The second thing that the mod does is allow you to put carrots into the small trough.

Can we get an update for 1.20.4? Behavior patch for hares is broken at the moment.

I would like it if this mod was like ChickenSit where the animals stopped freaking out around the player after 1 generation.  The movement of a large Husk or Down (why the English book was called Watership Down!) of hares can be quite hectic and cause eye or mental issues for some players.  Because Hare breeding is now a part of the vanilla game, I think the above would allow people to continue to enjoy raising hares and using your mod.

May I ask you some clarifications about what does this mod specifically adds? Isn't hare breeding already a thing in vanilla? Thanks and sorry for the bothering.

Just a heads up to change the first line in the description since it looks like it supports 1.20 now :) - thanks for the update, looking forward to putting this back in the modlist

sekelsta Good shout, fixed that.

💬 sekelsta, Jan 19th at 2:29 AM

Since vanilla added breeding info to the infobox and this mod adds breeding info to the infobox, that info now shows up twice. This can be fixed by simply removing the clientside multiply patch for hares.

I'm trying this on a multiplayer server and everything seems to be working except for the wildcraft herbs, they are not able to be added to small troughs (or large but thats not really an issue). Has there been an update that possibly broke the compatibility with this mod? We'd love to be able to use the herbs

I was able to modify the small_trough.json and update the "dependOn" and the item codes to match the reworked Wildcraft: Herbs and Spices. I'm going to post it on the DB just so my server can use it, but I will take it down as soon as you ask and I can provide you with the .json if you'd like.

This is an absolutely hare-raising experience.

💬 Aristine , Mar 27th 2024 at 5:55 AM

LazyViking Seems like the wiki is mentioning large troughs, which only works because of the 1.19 bug I mentioned that lets small animals eat from large troughs and vice versa.

My mod makes it so you can add vegetables, grass, and sometimes modded herbs to the small trough.

💬 LazyViking, Mar 26th 2024 at 4:44 PM

did your mod enter main game for your mod are now in the wiki for how to breed hares?

💬 awesomedeity, Feb 13th 2024 at 10:51 PM

Awesome, thank you. I was genuinely confused because I wasn't the first to download it and no one else had mentioned it being an issue. Aristine

Pervy_Sage
probably the throughs being patched to only work on the proper animals.

💬 Pervy_Sage, Feb 13th 2024 at 7:46 AM

What wasn't working before? It seemed to be working for me.

💬 Snowfall94, Feb 13th 2024 at 1:54 AM

I didn't know rabbit raising was a thing, but this sounds helpful when I now start a rabbit farm

💬 Aristine , Feb 13th 2024 at 1:01 AM

awesomedeity Thanks for reporting that, somehow the release got corrupted. Should be fixed now!

💬 awesomedeity, Feb 12th 2024 at 10:34 PM

Am I the only one downloading an empty folder for 1.19?

💬 Aristine , Feb 12th 2024 at 5:48 AM

💬 Shion, Apr 18th 2023 at 12:11 AM

1.18 support?

💬 Thap, Jan 1st 2023 at 7:19 PM

Cute.

💬 AzuliBluespots, Dec 30th 2022 at 1:47 PM

This is pretty nice, easy early redmeat to go along with chickens. I wonder if the feeder can be automated to any extent.

💬 Nebux, Dec 30th 2022 at 12:46 PM

i like it. just what i needed for a small pelt farm
