Latest file for Various v1.19.x:
xskills-0.7.5-dev.1191.zip 1-click install

This mod is no longer neccessary.

The original has been updated to 1.19.4! \o/

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a decompiled version of XSkills 0.7.5 that has been updated to 1.19.x with Xandu's endorsement.

Please see the original page for more information about this mod.

Remember: XLib is required for this mod to work. I have update it to 1.19, too.

Modders: This mod uses a different modid which is `xskills119`. Sorry about the weird versioning. The moddb website has strict arbitrary restrictions on versioning which doesnt allow proper semver to be utilized.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Remember, I do this stuff for myself and my family. Not you. I owe you nothing. You will receive no support for this mod. If there is a bug I'm sorry about that, but it works just fine on my machine.

Is the UI for this mod kind of locked into its current configuration?  I'd have to stumble through it since I'm absolutely not a coder, but wondering if it's possible to add a tree and skills for Rustbound Magic that gain XP from casting spells and can reduce the mana costs and cast timers, or increase the power, as levels are applied.  It seems the Survival tab has room for a Magic tab, but idk if the locations of the tabs are designated or dynamic.  Took a while to figure out where to add classes so they gain modifiers, and might have made a mistake there but I have a backup of the configs.

{Edit:} accidentally submitted blank comment.

Dont know if its this, or other mods i could be using, or that i edited the files to add some more tiers to some of the skills
but i am unable to go and get the production skills to give exp, such as cooking and pottery
havent been playing enough to test metalworking, but i assume its the same.

Found the cause, Knapster and such was doing it

💬 Iver, Feb 29th at 1:43 PM

How exactly all-rounder skill work BillyGalbreath?

💬 Buder28, Feb 27th at 8:30 PM

either that or the lib but its affecting base game recipe hud for mushroom in the cooking pot
like turnipx4 turnip x4 + random mushroom x4 dosent show has a working recipe even though it will cook
just saying
edit: another thing  xskill add steel bit when the game has steel bit now so its double but you can craft the mod steel metalbit to vanilia blistersteel so all good

Has the recipe making Jam been effected for anyone else using this mod?

People on my server are now saying they need 0.3L Honey / 0.3L Honey / 1 Berry / 1 Berry instead of 0.2L Honey / 0.2L Honey / 1 Berry / 1 Berry as shown in both the game files and the in-game guide.
Also for a 6 serving portion it is requiring 1.3L Honey / 1.3L Honey / 6 Berry / 6 Berry instead of the expected 1.2L Honey / 1.2L Honey / 6 Berry / 6 Berry.
No mods installed (very few and none related to cooking) affect the jam recipe file directly so my only guess is that some of the behind the scenes math for xskills is indirectly affecting this recipe.

Thank you for any confirmation of this issue, feedback, or help.

Having an issue on our server

We're using prospect together and this mod, and the overlay's not working what so ever. Has anyone had that happen with this mod and prospect together active?

💬 sdkenny, Feb 11th at 10:08 PM

Thank you!  Anyone find a fix for the cooking pots doing 11 servings instead of 12?

💬 devdog, Feb 8th at 11:08 PM

Working great, thank you! Sidebar: You sure to be popular. I wish I had a stalker!

Sty2000 Joziva sit down lol, you're embarrassing yourselves. Too many armchair lawyers in the kitchen imo.

💬 BillyGalbreathAuthor, Feb 7th at 6:31 PM

:O That's genius DrBubba! Thank you for that ^_^

💬 DrBubba, Feb 7th at 5:51 PM

Hey, I found a quasi-fix for the window resizing itself over the place, BillyGalbreath

Set the window to Moveable and it won't jump when you swap through tabs.

💬 MorysDrecht, Feb 6th at 1:01 AM

Thanks for bringing this to 1.19. Having a lot of fun with it

💬 xCoiotex, Feb 3rd at 5:00 AM

Vallen take the feedback from the people here, some folks really wants a mod like this in the official game, it could be a "optional option for gameplay" when creating a world, so it doesnt bother people that want to play without this feature and with it!

💬 VallenModerator, Feb 2nd at 3:13 PM

Let's all try to be civil here. There's no need to be rude to each other. The matter is under review. Until it's resolved, please chill. If you want to continue chilling afterwards, that's cool too.

💬 NukoSan, Feb 2nd at 1:12 PM

At the end of the day, I hope that everybody will relax, BillyGalbreath I hope you won't take the general toxicity of people who failed to contribute anything to the mod community. I do hope this mod makes it to the game at least as an option. Does anyone know what's up with Xandu?

💬 Joziva, Feb 2nd at 11:56 AM

BillyGalbreath

With that kind of thinking, you'll be the reason why modders ultimately stop sharring information altogether and make this community become toxic like minecraft.

💬 NukoSan, Feb 2nd at 11:27 AM

BillyGalbreath thank you for your work kind sir, thanks to you I am back to wasting my time in VS :-), the community needs more peeps like you, thank you for updating this mod, and for the patience with some people... Sty2000 - have you thought for a second to maybe not post anything?

💬 Sty2000, Feb 2nd at 1:08 AM

i didn't mean to come across as accusational this time. i'm sorry that i did. i was legitimately just curious and maybe jumped to the conclusion you didn't ask because of experiences elsewhere. also your response to DrBubba made it seem like you didn't plan on maintaining it

💬 DrBubba, Feb 2nd at 12:34 AM

Makes total sense, mate.  No worries. :)  Thanks for the reply!

💬 BillyGalbreathAuthor, Feb 2nd at 12:00 AM

What makes you think I haven't Sty2000?

I really don't think I should be explaining myself to you, but maybe it'll satisfy your odd obsession with me and this mod.

I've got a single response from him in discord from weeks ago, which showed he has little to no urgency in doing the update himself (if ever). I've tried to continue that conversation (even asked him to post the code on github), to no avail. But there is good news. He finally accepted my days old friend request in Discord about 8 hours ago. I've messaged him again in DM right after that, but still waiting on reply.

💬 Sty2000, Feb 1st at 11:28 PM

probably a dumb question, but why don't you ask for permission to maintain the mod in xandu's absence? from what other people have been telling me he still responds to dms and probably wouldn't be adverse to the idea, and as a benefit you get people like me to stop complaining that you posted a rip on the db. because now you have permission

💬 BillyGalbreathAuthor, Feb 1st at 10:58 PM

DrBubba I totally understand that frustration. It's also bothered me for awhile, too ^_^

However, I am not the maintainer of this mod so I wont be fixing any bugs or making any changes. I just wanted to get it working in 1.19.x for my server (and ya'll get to benefit from that lol)

💬 Joziva, Feb 1st at 10:48 PM

Edel_Recke https://www.legalzoom.com/articles/how-much-does-it-cost-to-get-a-copyright You don't have to pay for getting a copyright, don't spread misinformation please. There's too many links and a simple call just to call in to your local office to see if it's free or not (which it is).

💬 DrBubba, Feb 1st at 9:37 PM

Hey, BillyGalbreath

First off, thank you SO MUCH for taking this mod up.

Minor, minor, minor request, but when you're in here prowling around, can you do whatever needs to be done to set the anchor point for the Options Window to the upper left corner so that swapping between tabs causes the window to move and shift around so much?

💬 Josyph, Feb 1st at 9:18 PM

I too can confirm that I am unable to open my skills menu.

💬 Sty2000, Feb 1st at 8:27 PM

if some people aren't able to open up the skills menu there's something going on

Edit: furthermore a lot of the mods that this was compatible with are getting overhauled so compatibility will be an issue moving forward i'm sure

💬 BillyGalbreathAuthor, Feb 1st at 7:15 PM

Sty2000 What you mean? Everything works exactly as it should.

💬 Sty2000, Feb 1st at 7:14 PM

maybe a rewrite is neccesary to get it to work on the newer version?

💬 Sashkaa, Feb 1st at 2:04 PM

D2Icarus thanks i know how to read logs, but those are only information i got from logs. There is no errors and yet i'm not able to access skills menu. I have in control menu Xskills hotbar switch - set up on P. But nothing happens when i click it.

💬 D2Icarus, Feb 1st at 1:41 PM

Sashkaa Unlesss I'm mistaken, those are built in patches for other mods like Medieval Expansion and Feverstone Wilds. It's just the console printing out that those patches aren't being loaded, most likely because you're not running those mods. So I'm pretty sure they can be safely ignored.

💬 BillyGalbreathAuthor, Feb 1st at 1:39 PM

Sashkaa It's just some debug messages that appear in the debug log file.

I'll show you how to read it.

1.2.2024 12:54:31.658 [VerboseDebug] Patch 3 in xskills:patches/farming.json: File wildcraft:blocktypes/plant/berry/berrybush.json not found

  1. This first line printed at 12:54 AM on Februrary 1, 2024.
  2. It is a VerboseDebug log, which just means it's logging something that does not show up in console (aka, it's not important)
  3. patch #3 in the XSkills farming.json patch wants to patch something in the berrybush.json file of the WildCraft mod, but the WildCraft mod is not installed on your server.

This is normal, and you will see it for a lot of mods. It just means this mod has compatibility with other mods, but you dont have them installed so there is nothing for this mod to do. Nothing to be alarmed about ^_^

💬 Sashkaa, Feb 1st at 12:58 PM

Thanks for an update, unfortunately i have an issue when running on a server, can someone take a look and explain what can cause it? Fresh installation of server. Just 2 additional mods that should't interfere. I did not do any changes in th configuration files. I'm not using any of those modes.

@Sty2000 for copyrights, you have to apply and PAY for this. Nobody has copyrights, if you don't apply at authorities...

yes, it may be bold. On the other hand, various pre versions have been published for MONTHS (sic!). Every author would have had enough time to fulfill his "duties".
Maybe the original author has no interest anymore. So should be wait forever?

Code oblige!

P.S.. Should be official ingame material since 1.17 anyway 😅

We know this is a temporary fix, thanks for your work and for linking back to the original.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!! Vintage Story just isn't the same without this mod, I've been agonizing over the wait for an update!!!!

There are other mods that had been updated by people who did not originally create them, as well, and chose to make an update for the community, linking to the original, especially when the original mod author chose to stop updating/coding the mod for a variety of reasons. Those who update mods we love, still refer to the original mod, I say "Thank you" to them. They took time out of their days to update them for more current versions.

BillyGalbreath

Thank you for updating this to the current version. Greatly appreciated and keep up the good work, my dude.

>A person took a free product and updated it to a more current version so that it could be used.
>He immediately said that the original work was not his.
>He indicated the original author and provided a link to him.
>He didn’t even give a hint of a desire to make money from this.

TREASON! TREASON! TREASON! TREASON!

AAAALAAAAAAAAARM!

THERE'S THEFT HERE! CALL THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY AND TYRONE PERSONALLY TO BAN THE THIEVES OF OTHERS' INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY!!!

💬 xCoiotex, Feb 1st at 2:10 AM

That's very nice of you! Thanks for doing this :DD

💬 BillyGalbreathAuthor, Feb 1st at 2:00 AM

xCoiotex Everything is right where it should be, so no need to worry. The configurations are still in /ModConfig/XLeveling/ and the saved player data is still in the /Saves/XLeveling/ directories. Once Xandu's official update is ready all you have to do is delete my zip and install theirs. \o/

💬 xCoiotex, Feb 1st at 1:56 AM

Imo this could even help Xandu with his version to port to 1.19.x if both modders agrees to work on this, in the end everyone that wants to play with this mod would win!

What I'm worried about, is downloading this mod, using it, and when xandu releases his version, how would we transition all the progress from this to the other one since they have different modid? Dunno if that can scramble something in the process

💬 Joziva, Feb 1st at 1:00 AM

The same argument could be applied to art and yet, copyright laws still apply.

So you can save your breath.

💬 Foomonchoo, Feb 1st at 12:50 AM

This argument was sussed out more than a decade ago with Sim City 4 mods. People would upload a tree or park bench asset, then someone would use that asset to make a park building. The park mod would require separate downloads of both the tree and bench files. This quickly became a shitshow as mods became more complex, requiring sometimes several dozen separate downloads across multiple sites for a single apartment building mod. People would trade personally cultivated and functional modpacks in private messages like child porn at a politician's house party.

Then one day a modder had had enough, and started uploading mods with all the necessary assets in a single files. One mod, one file. asset credits in the file description.

The ensuing shitstorm over 'stolen intellectual property' was so immense that the largest community site for SC4 mods split into two sites, SC4Devotion.com continued to require multiple downloads. The Simtropolis.com in the new manner. The butthurt was so great that members of the latter retroactively went through half a decade of their mods and made brand new assets to remove all dependencies on the old guard.

SC4Devotion is the smaller site with the shittier mods these days. The irony is that to get anything done they periodically put together 'Common Dependency Packs", where assets would be bundled together anyways.

tl;dr: If you have uploaded a mod for free and put no limitations on access you have implicitly given permission to others to use it however they see fit. Giving credit where it's due is simply common courtesy.

💬 Joziva, Feb 1st at 12:45 AM

You guys heckling the one person whose actually telling ya'll that this isn't right is pretty messed up. This mod shouldn't be here. He didn't get permission, he didn't even credit Xandu. He should actually be reported in the VS discord which I'm going to do. Just as that one art/mod thieving dude did, he's likely to get banned for such criminal actions.

Also stealing isn't "harmless".

Not only that, two weeks isn't an excuse. It's not even in release versions. Ridiculous to go to such lengths to do this.

💬 MadGnome, Feb 1st at 12:26 AM

Thanks for doing the update for this Billy, in the absence of the original mod author.  The mod's been working great, no issues with it yet while using it on a 1.19.3 server.

💬 HarrenHeart, Feb 1st at 12:17 AM

Sty2000 is correct. This entirely depends on the terms of the license the original code is released under. In the absence of a license it would default to ARR. The question is will the original author excerise those rights one way or another.

💬 Sharkie, Feb 1st at 12:17 AM

Sty2000 what do you mean 2 weeks since their last post? His activity feed literally says last year in August. Do you know what year it is buddy? Anyways, thank you Billy for taking the time to at least give a temp fix for people to still enjoy the work of Xandu.

I'm not going to chill out, proper credit is not a free pass on stealing someone else's work. there's a reason copyright laws exist and the source code was not made public most likely for a reason, if billy wanted to he could have reverse engineered the code and made his own work. that would have been acceptable even if it was based on the original, furthermore it's been less than 2 weeks since xandu last posted. this isn't okay just because people want it it's theft of someone elses work

💬 Mendall, Jan 31st at 11:31 PM

Sty2000 chill out dude. Billy gave proper credit to the actual author of the mod. Asked for no compensation. And made his code available to all. This isn't theft, it's just lending a hand to us folks waiting on all their must-have mods to update before we start our 1.19 worlds. When the proper author (who we all bow to in reverence. For this must have mod) gets his update done. We will all be downloading it, and this kindly offered patch will have served its purpose. To billy, ignore the hate please, and thanks for the effort. I can finally start my new world.

💬 Sty2000, Jan 31st at 11:25 PM

you all seem to think that stealing code is a good thing if you admit to stealing it. if you admit to stealing a car should you be able to keep said car and not go to jail?

💬 ManManGuy10, Jan 31st at 10:35 PM

@sty2000

Definitely dont avoid this mod. It is harmless to update someones mod for them if they do not do it themselves. I dont know what is going on with the original author, but I imagine once he updates his mod to 1.19, there will be no use for this mod and it will be removed or no one will use it. Billy is not asking for donations, and went through the trouble of using decompiled code to get this working. I personally beleive that the original author of xskills is done updateing the mod aswell, no updates on it since 1.18.5, this is harmless and far from code theft.

Sty2000

The man wrote in black and white that this was not his mod and he simply updated the old version so that it would work on the current version of the game. He indicated links to the original mod and, even more, indicated that a full description of the functionality of this mod is located there. What kind of slander is this out of the blue? Why are you behaving like this? In any case, when the author of the original mod updates to 1.19, this particular mod will lose its relevance, since it is just a plug at that time until the original is updated. I would also understand if the author asked you for a donation or somehow tried to monetize the mod, but exactly as it looks now, it is a harmless quick fix for such an inconvenience as the original mod that takes a long time to update.

💬 Sty2000, Jan 31st at 6:56 PM

i reccomend people avoid this mod, the original author is still making the mod and code theft is serious

💬 Sty2000, Jan 31st at 5:45 PM

did you even get permission to do this? or is it just a stolen mod

💬 DrBubba, Jan 31st at 4:33 PM

LEGEND!

💬 OpPointBaker, Jan 31st at 2:23 PM

Any willingness to update Xandu's Inventory Tweaks?

💬 xCoiotex, Jan 31st at 12:48 PM

No way! How? You just mad a build for 1.19.x? Did you have to update anything? is there a changelog?

💬 Mackeroni, Jan 31st at 12:18 PM

Can it be? Are the legends true?
