As of 01/01/24 I will not provide support for this mod. This means I will not answer questions or push updates. The mod will most likely work beyond 1.19.
Tired of jaggies and rugged terrain? Dislike the new terrain gen? Like high height worlds?
Then this mod is for you!
Tested mainly on 512 and 1024 height worlds (altough it still works on default height), terrain is much smoother, prettier to look at, and more traversable than vanilla. Creating a new world is heavily recommended.
Avoid updating the mod on existing worlds once applied, to avoid ugly chunk seams (or worse) on new generated chunks.
For servers: Once you rent/host a server, the server may do a first start with no mods on, generating a world with default settings. Adding the mod at this stage will cause bad chunk seams. What you should do is: generate a single player world with all the parameters you wish and any mods you want enabled, then upload this world and the mods to the server.
Note: This mod is not infallible. There may still be floating islands or weirdness, but it should be much less likely.
Not compatible with other landform mods!

Hey, I've been noticing some confusion in threads about compatibility between worldgen mods vs landform mods. It seems like due to phrasing some folks think landform mods aren't compatible with all other types of world gen. I'm posting this message in all landform mods, asking if we could standardize our warning to 'not compatible with other landform mods' so maybe you can reduce confusion.
-Thanks!
Thank you so much, Cheeki! It seems to work great!
This mod does not touch rock strata or ores at all, just landforms. It should work fine with Geology Additions.
Hello,
Does the mod alter the rock strata/ore distribution or rarity? Would it affect mods such as Geology Additions? Thank you!
You will not be forced to update the mod, no. Sticking with a version of the mod through updates won't be an issue.
Let's say the server updates to the future 1.20, and the mod becomes obsolete, would I be forced to update the mod, would that cause a problem?
My discord is the_cheeki, feel free to add me / dm me or whatever, I will answer when I can
For future readers: the mod now has a thread on the official discord under the mods section, if you prefer using that.
I can't find you on discord, what's your nickname?
I made this mod originally to play with my friends on a server, and it worked fine. I do not believe the mod will break ever since it replaces the landforms file with the modded one, and even if new landforms get introduced with an update they should be overwritten, so unless very drastic changes happen to the world generation where every worldgen mod would break, everything should be fine.
If somehow worldgen is changed in the future to make this mod incompatible, the chunks that have been already generated will be fine, and at most things will break when generating new chunks. (ugly chunk seams)
For server usage, I suggest generating a single player world with all the parameters you want and the mod enabled and upload that world to the server, as the server may generate the first chunks of the world without any mods once you rent/purchase it.
If needed I can clarify or provide more information.
Hello! So would it be risky to put it on a server? Because if an update arrives in the future where the mod stops working, could the server be harmed?
Do you recommend using this mod on servers? Because my community and I are very interested in using it
The mod will likely work with 1.19 with no issues, there are no changes to worldgen (landforms specifically) in the changelog, and I tested the latest prerelease (prerelease 4) and everything was fine.
Of course, I advise you to back up your save file before switching versions as you may never know when things are gonna break.
Hello brother, good night! Will the mod continue to run after the game is updated? I asked that, because that.
"Avoid updating the mod on existing worlds after it has been applied"
I like this mod the best of all the terrain mods I've tried. I'm using the default 256 world height. IMO, it's a huge improvement over vanilla.
Thanks for the feedback;
I noticed the 256 height worlds can be very flat at times, if you are playing at that height it is to be expected. The mod is mainly aimed at world heights above that to fix very bad worldgen issues. Making the parameters tunable is out of scope of the mod, and not something I would know how to do either.
Increasing upheaval rate may make your world less flat but it will come with it's own set of problems, mainly very stretched bumps in terrain. You could try messing around with it.
Feedback
I liked what this mod did. It greatly smoothed out the world, making it way more common to not be frustrated in the early game by a bad spawn. But, I also feel like the worlds are now too flat. I would have liked to be able to tweak the settings in some way, to maybe 50% of the effect. Like, if I could average the heights between this mod and unmodded, I would. Looking for that perfect balance.
I suggest sticking with defaults and height between 256-1024, but any worldgen setting, even the upcoming one, will work. Landform distribution is all RNG, so it may be a while until you see a specific one.
Never mind I just found the mountains, and they're amazing, not a jaggie spike bit in site great mod
I made a new world to try this out and so far really impressive, but I'm not seeing any mountains at all. I'm not sure if it is the settings I used when starting my game or if I just haven't traveled far enough yet, what would you say are the best world settings, so you get some of everything except the jagged spikie mess.
Thanks for the answer, sounds like I'm starting a new world, I want to try this out.
For myself i have testet it with alot of other Mods and it just made the World more Natural generated!
Big thanks for this awsome Mod!
Any mod that adds ruins, plants, critters, structures will work. A mod that adds new biomes could be incompatible, as it will most likely also add a new landform type for the biome. I will work on trying to make this mod compatible with other landform formations in the near future. As far as my experience goes, if a mod is incompatible with this one, it should tell you in the mod menu, so it's easy to test it out.
As for oceans, they work as they should. They retain .17 behavior, meaning that sometimes you get really deep holes, even more so in 512 or more height worlds. I am not sure how to tweak this yet. Another current issue is that coastlines can be a bit funky with specific landform types, but most of the time you have normal generation.
Edit: as of v1.2 the crossed out part is fixed
Do mods that add more ruins, plant, animals and land types work with this mod. Or will it break other mods that modify the world. If not, this might be the best mod ever, I loathe floating islands and unnatural looking mountain formations. But I use a lot of other mods that change the world in one way or another. Creatures and critters, wildcraft, wildcraft trees, better ruins, better traders, you get the idea. Any problem with mods of this sort that anyone knows about. Also does this still allow the new oceans, I really like the oceans.
The mod does not touch landcover or upheaval rate values, so it will work with any world generation settings.
Does the mod completely sidestep the world gen options like upheaval rate, landcover, ocean cover, etc or does it incorporate the values?
Aye, done that!
Nice to see others doing landform mods! Do you mind specifying that you replace the landform file and this isn't compatible with the other landform mods?
If only this came out a few days earlier xD
I did not think of that! I am not able to delete the current downloads, but will definitely add a version number in the zip name in the future.
edit: ok you can edit them, it has been done
Can u name the Downloads with versions ?
rn its always the same.
Good Mod!
I have tried to no avail, it seems like the patches are being applied (at least log file says so) but nothing changes in the world generation after regenerating chunks. Keeping the mod as it is for now
Its not that important, but its nicer if you overwrite with patches so other mods could add new landforms or use standard values without breaking. You could just throw it in the ModMaker.exe it makes automatic patches. If its to much effort thats totally fine and understandable!
Mostly a lot of trial and error, regenerating chunks until I got good enough results, replacing new values with old values made the terrain even worse so that had to be fixed.
I could look into using the patch method, I had trouble trying to make this work in the first place but I guess I can l look into it. Could I ask why? I am aware of potential incompatibilities, but I assume it's incompatibilities with other worldgen mods?
Thanks a lot! How did you do it? I tried with raising the sea-level but that didn't work!
Also could you add it as patches instead of writing over game-domain? :)
