Mod is intended for large servers with lots of deforestation and is not at all balanced for singleplayer (though you're totally free to use it in singleplayer of course).
From my time spent playing on multiplayer servers I've noticed that over-time forests very quickly get deforested. Either due to people cutting down trees without shearing the leaves for seeds, or just not having enough seeds to reforest land. This is especially problematic when multiple people on a server want to build with hard to propagate wood such as ebony. This mod just applies a patch to increase the droprate of seeds from leaves.
You can adjust the drop rates by just changing the amounts in assets\wlts\patches. Mod is entirely server-side.
Non-Branchy Leaves: 0.01 - 0.05 ⇾ 0.09
Branchy Leaves: 0.01 - 0.15 ⇾ 0.2
Narrow Leaves: 0.16 ⇾ 0.35
Bamboo: 0.08 ⇾ 0.15
Depending on the tree (some have more leaves than others, resulting in more seeds on avg), you can expect about 2-4 seeds per tree!

Im probably the wrong one in this scenario. Not sure how many tree seeds to expect when cutting down trees, but when cutting birch/pine/larch, I have a BARELY positive seed collection (as in i have like 1-2 seeds left over after cutting down and replanting 7 trees). and this fluctuates. 0 seeds to 3 seeds are all possible according to my flawed memory. what should I be expecting? are my expectations too high?
The mod definitely works with breaking leaf blocks
I thought it did work with cutting down trees normally, though I think it's a reduced rate. I know for certain it works with shears or individual leaves, I'll take a look at it BebRav3
This doesnt seem to work when you fell the entire tree. I havent seen any seed increases when i cut down rarer trees. Is that intentional? does the mod only function when breaking individual leaves? can i change that?.
NVM. packaged mod wrong.
NVM. no improvement on cutting down trees after correctly packaging mods
update 3: idk anymore.
doesn't seem to effect Wildcraft: Trees in 1.19, unfortunately.
This appears to be working fine for me in 1.19. The mod manager doesn't complain about it either
I would also love to see this updated to 1.19, for what it's worth. It once again feels like a bug, to be simply unable to propagate many tree species.
Bonjour, allez-vous mettre à jour ce mod vers la 1.19.3 ? Merci d'avance
This is a great mod even if it is vanilla only. I have not even tried getting seeds from the wildcraft trees, so I wouldn't know the difference if it did. But as for "If it doesn't work I can update it to include those leaves!" don't bite off more than you intend, wildcraft has a LOT OF TREES.
You have to open the zip itself, you can then either just edit the patch directly or unzip and rezip it. The patches list off each tree type individually so it should be easy to read. Hope that helps! Mobius
Cool! And just one more question, when I add the mod to a server, I can't find the "assets\wlts\patches" you describe... I can go to assets/survival/patches, but inside of there is no file that allows me to adjust the mod. I'm using g-portal as a host with filezilla if that helps.
I will have to check to see if this is compatible with wildcraft trees. It depends under what leaf catargory wildcraft uses. The mod does include a change to any leaves under * meaning all others, so it sholuld work but no guarntees till I check to make sure. If it doesn't work I can update it to include those leaves! How compatible is this with other mods related to trees? Like wildcraft trees? :0
I do not understand nor have I ever understood how making tree seeds easy to get was a game balance issue anywhere, single player or server.
I don't want to decimate a hole beautiful forest of redwoods every time I need that wood and make my game world that much less attractive, so let me cut down one tree then grow my own. If I'm willing to wait for the trees to grow just to make a sustainable choice, why should I not be able to. I will be using this in my SP world and until someone can explain to me why it's any more game breaking for me to plant ebony than it is for me to plant pine trees. I will not except that it is in any way breaking game balance as long as I still have to make the trek to where the trees grow to collect the seeds in the first place, not a bit of game content has been lost, and a forest has been saved.
So you sir are an environmental fricken hero for single-handedly saving the forests of VS.
I do have one question though does this work with wildcraft trees as well or just vanilla
