This mod rewrites a part of the world generation to immerge you in an alpine scenery.

What should you expect from this mod:

  • Mountains!
  • Endless mountains, you won't get to another biome by walking away.
  • For a better immersion, the top layer is always made of granite. For a full Vintage Story experience, you will find a layer of other rocks below the surface.
  • The way the world generation is done breaks the halite vanilla spawn, so don't trust the prospecting pickaxe about it. You will instead find halite pillars by visiting caves.
  • You can play around with the global forestation if you need more forests.
  • The Mountain size is scaled along the X and Z axis with the world height. I wouldn't recommend going above 300 to avoid artifacts.
  • A full experience with this mod starts at a render distance beyond 600 blocs (sorry potato guys 😕).
  • This mod may silence many other mods that change the world gen parameters.

Using this mod with an old world will make weird things/break it. Make a new one!

Known issues:

  • Rivers are drunk.
  • Weird white pixels on map on rivers.

This mod made with the 18.x .NET7 version of the game.

Have fun 🙂

Can we have an option to change the top layer or to add multiple variants? I want to add Dolomite in my top layer :D

I tried to make a new world in 1.19.4 and it made standard vanilla mountains. I use the rivers mod. Or are there any specific settings I should use for landform scale, landcover etc?

Does this work with current version?

0.1.1 should fix the missing coal

💬 ZelfiorAuthor, Oct 20th 2023 at 8:07 PM

Aspendosia, it seems coals don't spawn in granite, it explains it all, i will it a bit for the next version.

MarcAFK, Not as it is done, but i got a few idea that could make it better, and allow what you propose

This is really nice. Would it be possible to tweak the worldgen so it occasionally produces these mountians instead of only making the alpine? I havent messed with worldgen mods before but I really love what this does and would like to have it somehow integrate with the regular features, perhaps even 50/50

💬 Aspendosia, Oct 20th 2023 at 9:36 AM

I had others (copper, iron, tin, quartz, olivine) but no coal (black or brown). I'll roll another world and see what happens there as I do like the aesthetic.

Edit: tried a new world, getting brown coal but no black, not even deep down. Love the little rivers.

Edit: took this mod out of the pack, and black coal returns. Not sure what it doesn't like, but black coal seems like it. Hope that helps.

Aspendosia that's not supposed to be, is there any other ore you didn't find? I checked Halite and Olivine because they spawn in particular conditions. I will check if i can find coal during the worldgen

Interesting mod. I like the change to worldgen to a specific biome. Not sure if this is a mod clash or this mod working as intended, but even with a scanner mod I cannot find any coal in my map?

It’s funny that in the generation there appear like “rivers” without a flow, and I found only 8 blocks in size, so the mod deserves a place in the niche of world generation, maybe someone will be interested in surviving like this
