Better Jonas Devices
Currently in the game, Jonas devices are cool-looking, very hard to create and almost utterly useless.
This mod attempts to make these machines a little bit more powerful, to compensate for the cumbersome crafting process.
Base Return Teleporter
- No longer gets destroyed. Instead it teleports with you
- Requires temporal gear to recharge
Rift Ward
- Emits light
- Actively destroys rifts in 64 blocks radius
- Restores temporal stability in 64 block radius
- Can be picked up without losing fuel
- Base-game rift supression field extended to 128 blocks
Night Vision Mask
- Clear and well-lit view, with only a small cosmetic overlay to indicate that the mask is active. No more eye-burning green!
- Highlights animated entites in 64 blocks radius
Compatibility
This mod overrides base game code using Harmony. It's recommended to create a backup when adding this mod to an untested version of the game.

Config
Config is located under VintageStoryData/ModConfig/betterjonasdevices.json
To disable area effects just set range value to 0
Supression is vanilla mechanic when rift just becomes small and harmless in range of device
Destruction is mod mechanic which actively removes rifts in range.
Restoration fully replenishes temporal stability for players in range every 5 seconds.

Hi, is there a time requirement for the rift ward to destroy nearby rifts? I tried placing the rift ward at point blank yesterday for a minute or so and the rift didn't disappear. It had fuel and was activated of course.
it doesnt seem to generate the config file. also is there a way to keep the green overlay with the other change intact?
Is there any way to configure how many temporal gears the the Teleport Home Device uses, or a max range setting for it?
Pervy_Sage You're right. Just tested disabling Flexible tools and it makes my drifters require harvesting again. Strange. I must have activated the mods in a different order back then. Could have sworn I turned Jonas devices off and on and noticed the behavior, but I'm probable misremembering. Thank you very much!
Careful if using the Base Return Teleportor and your return block is located on claimed land, like a trader. Unless you can enter creative mode, you will NOT be able to pick up the discharged Base Return Teleporter.
Vanadium You sure you don't have flexible tools installed? That mod changes drifter drops and makes them drop all their loot. And it doesn't mention anything about changes to drifters in it's discription.
This is still working great in 1.19.4.

Activating this mod causes killed drifters to drop their loot on the ground instead of needing to harvest them with a knife. They also start dropping animal hides. Is this intentional behavior? I am running a large modlist so it could also be a conflict.
It does not create a config file inside a servers ModConfig folder.
would you be able to make the rift ward not require gears?.... i may of built my event area in a unstable area xD

Guimoute yeah, what's also expected is that the game is supposed to use yellow warning for outdated mods, and it doesnt do that for some reason for this specific mod. I've been confused cause of that too and wanted to report a "bug" just as well. But then I noticed that there wasnt a 1.19 release in the first place and everything fell into place. lol
RikeiR You're using a 1.18 mod on an unstable 1.19, that's expected.
This mod causes the game to crash after ver 1.19.

Edit: it looks like the config does not load on a server. it does in single player
I really like the idea of fixing the NV helmet's terrible rendering effect. Think you could make a client mod with just that change?

The mod is tested on 1.18.13 now.
If none of your mods alter behaviour of Jonas devices, it should be fine
Also enabling and disabling mod is completely safe, so you can experiment with your modpack if you are not sure.
Anyone try this on 1.18.13 yet? Also, how does it fare with a large mod list (100-130 mods)?
hello, as you state in your description i would like some config options. rift ward rift destruction radius, stability restoration radius and rift suppression field radius. night vision mask highlight on/off and radius.
