if you already have a version of VSMPL past 1.5.0.0 the launcher will say there is an update available if not you will need to manually get this update and remove any old launcher you have and data due to the differences between 1.4 and 1.5 major versions

Major Changes
WARNING
All Mod Packs are required to be updated to the new format old formats will no longer work this has been a overhaul of how the Launcher handles ModPacks and there is now no INIs everything is Json making things better going forward
You can find the new Templates in the Creators\Templates folder ClientModList.json there has been no changes as it was already a Json file
For this Update IF you already have the launcher it will not detect a new update as it was not compatable with the New installer so Please uninstall your current installation and Delete all data before installing v1.5 and adding in your Mod Packs using the new Json system so please make sure any servers you are part of or mod packs you use have been updated first to utilize the new formats for the modpacks
Changes For Creators of mod packs that need to be made for this version of the launcher
1; ModConfig.zip is no longer needed just put the ModConfig folder directly in your modpack zip 2; VSMPLModpack.ini needs changing to the new VSMPLModpack.json and the new entries in that file added
Sorry if this Update causes issue but its all part of the improvements we are making to the Launcher in order to bring it to linux at some point in the future and improve upon it further as we head towards 2.0.0.0 that will bring the multiplatform update and a website for mod pack creators to upload there Packs to allowing users to browse User made Modpacks

- Added Themes (Can be changed in the settings menu)
- Mod Pack makers can now set a theme for there mod pack in there VSMPLModpack.json file users need to have Enabled Mod Pack as a theme to use the Mod Packs Theme
- Cleaned up the UI and optimized it more now smoother running
- Added a verification check when the mod packs are launched to stop cheater from adding mods that are not part of the mod pack any found mods will be deleted that dont belong to that mod pack so no Xray mods allowed unless already in the mod pack
- Many more under the hood code optmizations too many to list all here
More updates will follow sorry for any issues this update will cause to creators and players alike but sadley there was no other way to make these changes and keep the old way of doing things.

I am doing a full ReWrite of the program so can support linux and make it run alot faster using less resources but it will use .Net 9 and all been well will no longer need admin privalages to install mod packs but will see how that works when i get to that stage with it Mod Packs will have a refactor also and have there own file extensions rather than .zip to make things easier going forward
Will also be updating the Mod Pack Configurator to all been well be able to just scroll through mods and select them from the site to be included in the mod pack but will have to see what is avialble from the sites API to be able to do that while also saying if updates are available making it faster to update mod packs based on what version fo the mods you want to use in the pack
So v2.0.0.0 WIll be the big update im working on
@Magmabot16 AVG is a VERY VERY VEEEEERY bad antivirus, use ESET NOD or just windows defender.
Why does this require admin privlages to run?
Trying to install but AVG is flagging as malware. After adding exception still recieving error stating tha proccess needs elevation.
I installed this, wasnt what i tought and then i couldnt uninstall it and whenever i tried it made my whole pc slow down to crawl, couldnt even unpause the AV. I managed to delete the folder and its registry entry but it still shows up in my installed programs and i cant do anything with it, cant remove it or anything
Had to manually remove everything related to it on files and on the registry. Win 10.
I Coded this software on Windows 11 and have no experienced the issues your having mod packs are stored in zip files and the Mod Pack Configurator will zip them up for you using the name supplied in the VSMPLModpack.json all value editable within the Mod Pack Configurator
if you have any issues sending me the mod pack via discord i can take a look at how you have it setup and go from there ChocolateLovely
Another concern:
When you click Save Mod Pack, it doesn't always update the appropriate json files.
Takeaways from Discord:
Back up your mod pack before clicking "Package Mod." There will not be a confirmation window and if there's an error you'll lose everything.
The 'Open Mod Pack' button is fundamentally broken in at least Windows 11. It requires a zip file, and will spit out an I/O error.
It is suggested that placing your ClientModList.json and VSMPLModpack.json into C:\Program Files\DeltaStrium\Vintage Story Mod Pack Launcher\Creators\Mod Pack\Open will cause the Mod Configurator to load the appropriate files when started. However, it does not. At least not in Windows 11.
I'm at a complete loss over where to go from here; and at this point, I'd suggest waiting a while, for the bugs to get worked out.
I will add more ways to manage mod packs with new versions
will have an option for just having them within the mod pack file itself rather than using links to download mods from the the site i did it that way so mod authors knew how many downloads there mods was getting but i can make it an option at some point

A_British_Lass I believe you can host your local mods on Google Drive or Dropbox and generate a URL that way, if you're still looking for a work around :)

Not a problem at all will keep enhancing the launcher with new features too for now working on the Mod Pack Configurator to replace the mod list configurator will make it quicker and easier to create the modpacks thats for sure Aerra

Just an FYI for v1.5.0.0 our website is still showing instructions for the 1.4.3.2 version please follow the template on how to setup a mod pack for now until i get the website update tomorrow with the new way of doing JSON files for the mod packs themselves :D

If I want to use this to create a local modpack for my SP/LAN player world, how would I go about it? I would appreciate if you made a video tutorial on how your application can work as a singleplayer modpack maker/launcher?
I wish to keep my mod packs separate and have a vanilla client handy, should we want to test vanilla gameplay, or when game bugs out (more often than anyone here wants to acknowlege and standard line is "remove the mods and test it").

Glad it worked as intended but i would like to let you know the issues with the progress bar should be fixed now but V1.4 will be very different to this and act in a very different way Have implimented most of the changes in the Planned Features section so the UI is Completely different now.
allowing to Add Mod Packs to the launcher and enable them to install being able to update them with ease with a click of a button should make the process easier for players to just grab the Launcher and server owners give the link to there modpack :D

I have tried it and it works perfectly, I see a lot of use in this and the fact that you can customize the appearance seems wonderful to me, with this you can create mod packs for less experienced users, but to make a complaint, a folder of mods would be nice lang to translate the output messages.
Oh and I almost forgot, but when the installation is finished, a visual error remains in the loading bar despite having finished the installation correctly.
