giantgouramis_102.zip 1-click install

Adds four species of giant gourami that spawn in different freshwater environments to your world. They can be caught and transported alive using a bug net. They can also be killed by standard means, providing raw fish. This mod includes the common giant gourami (Osphronemus goramy), the redtail giant gourami (O. laticlavius), the elephant-ear gourami (O. exodon), and the Bornean giant gourami (O. septemfasciatus).

Note: This mod requires the mod Bug Net Compatibility (https://mods.vintagestory.at/bugnetcompatibility) to function properly. Issues may occur if that mod is not also installed.

Anyone know if this mod will be updated and how if it works well?

💬 Wizard76, Aug 13th 2023 at 9:54 PM

I don't know if this mod caused it or not, sadly. I haven't experienced any crashes but I also have yet to test my mods on versions older than the ones they were released for.

💬 Wizard76, Aug 12th 2023 at 11:43 PM

I had a crash (1.18.5) that wouldnt even let me load the world. Although, I play with a lot of mods.... so no idea the cause.

It should work with 1.18.5. I haven't specifically tested it with that version but as far as I know none of the changes made to VS between 1.18.5 and 1.18.7 would affect this mod. With that said, if you find any issues, let me know.

Does anyone know if this works with 1.18.5?
Would love to add it, but Im doing a Youtube series on VS [modded ofc] and cant update yet due to some mods Im using havent updated.

Oh wow cool. I had no idea, this game is already so complex. Makes sense about the oceans, hope they figure out the generation of those

I haven't added any saltwater creatures because ocean spawn conditions are currently a bit wonky, so I'm hoping they get fixed soon. Many of my animals have nocturnal/diurnal sleep cycles already, and some behaviors - like frogs croaking - only happen at certain times of day.

💬 ProlePal, Jul 31st 2023 at 10:44 PM

I was also thinking about like implimenting nocturnal and dinural animals and animal sleep but that's also just a random idea. I like the ecology of this game a lot!

Well there is also seemingly a lack of nonvertebrate sea life. I don't know if sea urchins or sea stars are possible but those would be cool and crustaceans too. Can't forget cephlapods like squids and octopuses. Those are just my ideas though, no worries

💬 ProlePal, Jul 31st 2023 at 10:37 PM

Yeah I was thinking about that. Pretty much every primate is arboreal so that would be difficult to consider and impliment

I'll think about it, but climbing behavior can be a bit buggy at the moment and I am not yet adding any mammals. I have thought about primates though, and if I did decide to tackle any mammals those might be the ones I would go with.

💬 ProlePal, Jul 31st 2023 at 9:12 PM

I love your mods they are so great. This game has literally no primates whatsoever. No apes, no lemurs, no monkeys, no tarsiers. I was wondering if you could make a primate mod.
