thanks to Rangelost for the fantastic mod

you can't change pre-existing translocator distance.

but the new ones you fix up will take the config you set.

In version 1.22, the JSON file mentioned in Kaisentlaia’s comment is not generated, making it impossible to configure the settings and, consequently, to use the mod. It looks like I’ll have to wait for an update or a forked version.

Luckily I still have the json file, it's pretty simple:

  "distance_min": 400,
  "distance_max": 8000
}

You can create a translocatorconfig.json file inside %AppData%\Roaming\VintagestoryData\ModConfig then copy and paste this json inside it, and edit it to your liking. I changed my values but from a quick google search 400 and 8000 should be the defaults. It looks like it's still working fine even in 1.22 after adding the confing file and editing modinfo.json. Enjoy :)

For who's wondering, like I was, how the mod works, I experimented a little and figured it out:

  1. download the .zip file
  2. edit the modinfo.json file inside the .zip file, changing the version to the current one (i.e. 1.19.0)
    "dependencies": {
        "game": "1.19.0"
    }
  3. copy the edited .zip file inside your vintagestory/Mods folder
  4. restart the game if you're playing/hosting locally, or restart the server if you're installing the mod on a server
  5. go to vintagestory/ModConfig/ and open the newly generated translocatorconfig.json file 
  6. edit the distance_min and distance_max values to your preferred range
  7. save the file and I guess restart the game/server to be sure the new config gets loaded

Hi Speedrider, love the mod but how exactly do I 'set the config' to my preferences? I am new to modifying the game. Thanks a lot

Thank you!  I was really bummed out when I learned just how short the vanilla distance was. Kind makes it seem like repairing the translocators are a waste of gears. Might as well just walk there on foot.  😝
