Latest file for v1.19.8:
mostlyharmless1.1.0.zip 1-click install

Tested OK with 1.19.x

Provides a mode somewhere between Passive and Hostile. Recommend having rifts disabled to entirely prevent surface drifter spawns, and Hostility set to Aggressive, the mod will then tune the animals and drifters to be mostly harmless.

Drifters
Removed crawler animations
Modified throwing cooldowns
    From a throw every 1 - 10 seconds
    To a throw every 30 - 60 seconds
Max drifter spawns reduced:
    normal: 14 to 7
    deep: 8 to 4
    tainted: 7 to 3
    corrupt: 6 to 2
    nightmare: 5 to 1
Normal drifters now spawn deeper and (hopefully) rarely at cave entrances (0.7 - 0.9 from 0.85 - 2); this effectively removes surface drifters from the game, except during temporal storms.

Bears
No longer actively seek players
Will only attack if player is one block away

Wolves
No longer actively seek players unless attacked
Will only attack if you hit them or they take damage

Hyenas
Aggro range reduced

@dotyerts Not yet, I believe I will need to convert it to a code mod, it's planned but no ETA.

@cowdragons I'm glad you enjoy it, thank you for commenting!

Hi is there a config attached so we can enable/disable things?

hey its me again
ive tried the mod and it seems wolves are not working as intended
i tested it in creative and bears are working fine but wolves will attack me if i get close but in the description it says they are neutral now

💬 Tuga1308, Jun 19th 2023 at 11:00 AM

would you maybe make the ammount of blocks it takes for a bear to attack a player bigger? like maybe 5-10 ?
I think 1 block is way too small
also wolves should be agressive  imo
i know this might not be what you want for the mod but i hope you consider the feedback
the way the mod is made right now just makes the game too easy instead of creating a nice balance between bears and wolves being killing machines and bears and wolves being dangerous creatures.

@nim Oh, when I say 'they', I mean the rifts, not the drifters! After some more testing though I've noticed that no drifters spawn from the rifts at all, so the rifts still mysteriously appearing is not really any issue. If anything, it might actually be good for spicing up the surface a bit since surface mobs are less hostile now! :D That aside, this mod is perfect, thank you!

oh lovelly.. by the name I thought this mod made it "baby mode" - that is, disabled aggression entirely. Nice to see it make the world a bit less hostile. I've died to stupid situations regarding wolves and bears far too many times

Hi Cuiwi, thanks for the feedback! I've lowered their maximum spawn height a little more, I haven't seen any on the surface whilst testing!

Ohhh this mod is JUST what I was looking for! Something I've noticed since installing the mod though is that even though I have rifts disabled completely, they still appear? Even changing the setting again in the console does nothing after closing and re-opening the world. I haven't tested anything extensively yet, but I thought I'd mention it here in case anyone else has noticed the same issue?
