Adds eight species of pond frogs that spawn in different environments to your world. They can be caught and transported alive using a bug net, and both male and female frogs are included. This mod includes the northern red-legged frog (Rana aurora), the California red-legged frog (R. draytonii), the foothill yellow-legged frog (R. boylii), the Sierra Nevada yellow-legged frog (R. sierrae), the mountain yellow-legged frog (R. muscosa), the Columbia spotted frog (R. luteiventris), the Oregon spotted frog (R. pretiosa), and the Cascades frog (R. cascadae).
This mod is one of two that add species from the genus Rana. The other is Old World Pond Frogs. Both of these mods require version 1.0.1 or higher of Bug Net Compatibility.
Credit to Benboncan and the Pacific Southwest Region USFWS for some of the sound effects used. If you have an audio recording of one of these species that you would like to see used in the mod, let me know.
This mod was previously known as Pond Frogs III, and that is still the ID it uses.

There are no food items added by this mod.
i love the amount of frogs but have a strange question does this mod add any kind of frog meat (legs or just a meat item) to the game?
Lich
I've thought about them and they are definitely on the list of possibilities!
your series is great. any plans on making aquatic turtles?
Thanks! I'll test it some more as well. I only tried it once. It's possible that another mod is interacting with it. I will try to check the logs next time it happens and let you know!
SecretFoxfire
I haven't yet encountered that issue, I will test the mod and try to replicate it as soon as I can. It is possible that it is unrelated to the mod, but if I can find something that I can fix to make it less likely to happen I will update the mod and let you know.
Thanks for making the frogs killable! Unfortunately sometimes it is necessary. However, I discovered that after killing one of the frogs, if I tried to butcher it (to remove the corpse, I know they don't drop anything), it crashed my client. Not sure why or if that happens to everyone, but thought I would let you know!
Moon_Dew
These frogs are not commonly eaten IRL as far as I know, the ones that are are usually larger species than most of those in the genus Rana.
Glad you finally made these thing killable. Now how about making them drop some frog legs on occassion?
Moon_Dew
I can further decrease the cap. I do not use many mods, so thank you for informing me about this. The frogs in these mods cannot be eaten as I do not believe they are commonly eaten species (likely due to being too small for that).
Hieronymus They are a little high IMHO, especially when you have all three pond frog mods installed. By themselves it wouldn't be that much of a problem, but on a multiplayer server or a heavily modded singleplayer game it eventually causes massive lag and server crashes.
Also, can these frogs be eaten?
SecretFoxfire
There are individual limits for each genus, but they might be too high. I'll look into that.
Is there any chance of setting some kind of limit on spawns across all these frog/gecko mods? Having several of them on a server caused so much lag we had to remove them. :( Or if you created a single mod containing all of the various critters with the spawn rates configured to account for how many different ones there are, that would work as well.
SecretFoxfire
One trick to finding my creatures is to wait in one area for a while. That may already be what you are doing, but waiting in one specific location will increase the likelihood of local creatures making an appearance. With that said, conditions in your world may not be favorable for spawning the species I have added so far, and I do keep spawn rates relatively low to decrease the negative impact on performance.
SecretFoxfire There are no actual biomes, just areas that have various precipitation, percent of forest etc. etc.
Thank you for all these lovely little mods! I love stumbling across a pond full of these little guys. They seem to be quite rare though. Is there a list anywhere of the types of biomes we can expect to find the various kinds of frogs and geckos?

Which mods? If you are referring to my mods, all mods created by me are compatible with each other. If you are asking whether my mods are compatible with those created by someone else, I do not know.
It IS okay to combine the frog/wildlife mods... you know?
