you should do cattails for flint tools and then the higher up it goes the better it needs, like rope or twine, then maybe clay or mortar? I love this idea, also maybe a way to whittle the stick to the shape of a handle? I know this is all hard to do, just some suggestions though, if you could knap sticks, like 1-5 pixels hanging off of a relatively straight stick to break off and then a row of pixels at the top to make a notch for the tool head, that would be freakin awesome
