This small mod adds two functions:
1. It keeps track of players deaths (on server as well) and creates local file (called deathcounter.txt, located in %appdata%\roaming\vintagestoryData) with only one string - the number of player deaths. So during the stream you can output it in an overlay.
2. To view your Top-5 of deaths, use /dc command (privilege is .Chat).
3. If player dies, a WayPoint is created automatically, and Top-5 is also sent to player.
4. Creation of WayPoint is customizable with the config file (%appdata%\roaming\vintagestoryData\ModConfig\StreamDCConfig.json). You can choose whether to create the waypoint at all, or change it's color and icon.

I'm curious if that's been fixed?

One solution would be to turn off the mod when playing your other saves. Another is a separate installation of VS that you only use for streaming. A third, more complicated option, would be to go into the txt file and change it manually.
I don't know if this is still being worked on but it seems that the death counter is universal for the entire game installation and not per save. This is great if you have a single save that you play for a stream and no other save in that installation, but if you have multiple saves (ie. one for stream and one for personal play) it adds all deaths across every save you've made to the counter.
