Do you want more diverse molds while staying true to the spirit and mechanics of the game? This mod is for you!

Dev Update : Almost 4000 downloads soon!

The update for the large molds is taking me a bit more time than expected. There are a lot of changes, and I’m implementing a new crafting mechanic for this type of mold in a vanilla-friendly style. However, I don’t want to rush my work, so I’m taking the necessary time to ensure everything is well-polished. I hope that once the update is released, it will meet your expectations and be something you’ll enjoy !
When I have a stable snapshot version, it will be available in the snapshot branch on my GitHub for testing and feedback.
Thank you so much for the (almost) 4000 downloads – it truly warms my heart! 🙂❤️

Indeed, the Vanilla More Molds project aims to add new varieties of molds to expand the arsenal of your forge, all while staying true to the base game (mechanics, smelting logic, crafting).

The mod also seeks to give Fire Clay additional value by allowing the creation of advanced ingot molds for mass production

FAQ :

Will you add new tool molds?

- In theory, I could, but adding extra tool molds would break the use of the forge, so it's not planned. However, adding more utilitarian molds, like large ingot molds for example, is planned!

Can I translate the mod into another language?

- The mod is currently available in English, Chinese, Russian and French, but if you have any other suggestions, I’d be happy to hear them. You can submit your translations via GitHub ( link in the 'Source' tab ).

Is there a config file?

- No, not yet. And if there ever is one, it would be for features that wouldn’t break the vanilla aspect of the game.

I can't manage to pour molten copper into the hoop mold!

- It's normal, copper hoops don't exist in the game :)

...

Future plan :

  • Reinforced mold (protect from bad weather)
  • Color mold compared to the clay used
  • Special storage rack for ingot molds
  • More uses of fireclay
  • Compatibility with others mods
  • Keep the mod up to date :3

I’m open to suggestions, as long as they stay within the theme of the mod.

Incompatibility :

No news, good news 🤣

Noted, noted! I’ll see what I can do with that idea!

It should normally work, but there's an update coming soon.. just in case :P

💬 Ducky_, 1 day ago

Does this work with the current version?

💬 Shrapnel, May 4th at 8:34 AM

Not a mold but would love to see a clay working recipe for 4 jugs at a time, its the only recipe that fits in a 4th a block that does not have one. Edit: Been playing abit more and a fireclay tall mold for 4 Rods maybe nice to have also.

that sucks, thanks for telling me though!

💬 Nachie, Apr 6th at 7:02 AM

Vynk that's vanilla, if you let a mold get wet and break you lose somewhere around a quarter of your molten metal.

💬 Vynk, Apr 6th at 6:53 AM

tried cooling down a heavy ingot mold with a bucket of water, (after remembering something about a watering can being able to cool down molds)
rip 3 ingots worth of metal. dunno where it went, just poof'd as the mold disentergrated.
while i'm upset i lost the metal, its not a huge loss.. just kinda wonder where it went.
thanks for the molds btw. (oh! minor ps, i've not been able to stack ingots from this mod, with vanilla ingots, dunno if this is a mod conflict, or a bug on my end.)

My mod doesn't add that yet! I'm working on the revamp of special molds for version 1.2.

Where is the shears mold?

Hey I was the 4000th download!

Alright, thank you for your feedback!
I’ll still look into adding native support and the possibility to configure it.
Having some flexibility is always interesting for us players! :P

Okay so it seems like X-Skills works with the mod just fine. It recognizes the ingot mods as ingot molds (and is not affected by the talent), and the tool molds do get the less molten metal need. I guess I can say that this mod is compatible with X-Skills just fine.

I’m really glad you like it! 🙂

I’m planning to add a .config file soon, so you’ll be able to customize the mod to your needs and enable only the molds you want!

I’m also sure you’ll enjoy the upcoming update, which will overhaul the industrial molds’ functionality.
This mod will be regularly updated—I fully intend to keep it up to date with future versions! 😉

Hi!
That’s a great question. For now, I haven’t made any compatibility patches with other mods, so I can’t say for sure whether it works or not.
I think it depends on how X-Skill interacts with molds. VanillaMoreMolds uses the vanilla ToolMold functions, so if X-Skill applies its perks based on actions involving those functions, it should work fine.
However, to be certain, testing would be necessary.

It’s not the first time I’ve heard about this mod, and I’ve been thinking about working on an integration. It should be doable, especially when I eventually add a config file. 🙂

💬 DerpyChariZard14, Feb 19th at 7:12 AM

I'm curious: Does this mod work xskills? I just wanna make sure the ingot molds aren't affected by one talent where you need less molten metal to fill a cast (The talent only affects tool molds)

💬 LaDestitute, Feb 19th at 6:18 AM

Thank you for this mod. I've been waiting for some 1.19 mold mods to update and this might be a good replacement. As much as I want a scythe mold in this too, a mold for saws and nails and strips is great.

So first of all, thank you very much, it makes me happy to know that people like my mod :)
Secondly, I completely agree, it’s tricky to find the right balance. At the moment, I’m working on the next update (not version 1.1.0, which just adds a few bug fixes and full support for version 1.20.0, but the next one: version 1.2.0). In this upcoming update, there will be major changes to the special mold. I’m thinking about ways to make them more costly while still keeping them accessible (I’m aiming for mid-game). I’ve been considering using the forge to create them, but I still need to think it through. I really like the idea of durability; I think it should be possible, but I’ll have to see if I actually have the skills to pull it off :)

In any case, thank you again! If you have any other feedback or ideas, there’s a GitHub page for the project or an official forum post. Even though I’m the developer, I like the idea of everyone contributing their ideas while staying true to the spirit of the game :3

I love this idea (mostly because the storage of ingot molds is horrible and they end up having to go into a chest or baske, and I much prefer the immersive actions to the gui), but I feel like they already break the forge with the amount of things you can make.
If you had a version with only the ingot molds or if you could do that witha config file to toggle the items, then I'd be playing with this mod on every single world bc I hate the clutter of ingot molds

Idk how much more work/difficult this would be, but I have a suggestion that could really make this mod a staple: a great balancing mechanic could be that forged tools break blocks faster/do more damage and/or have more durabilty. That way you can pretty much add as many molds as you want without the risk of making the forge obsolete.

I'm also a sucker for the forge and I find it very satisfying/relaxing so I am biased as hell.

Kirch

Good idea, I'll keep that in mind for the redesign of the special molds for the next update :)

💬 Kirch, Jan 15th at 12:54 AM

if I can suggest, it would be amazing to have a mold for ring for the chain mail

💬 Zack_a_Riz , Jan 14th at 4:13 AM

Noa3

Thank you so much!
I'm currently preparing the next update, which is likely to be a major one, with the addition of new special molds and a redesign of the model and how they're made :)
I'll make sure it's compatible with the current version of the mod, so nothing breaks in your games or servers :)

💬 Noa3, Jan 13th at 7:19 AM

Thanks you for making this mod, i like it very much

Snowfious

Don't worry, there's no problem at all :3

💬 Snowfious, Jan 12th at 2:10 PM

Zack_a_Riz ... Wow, I should of looked closer and just pulled up the Handbook instead of assuming lol

💬 Zack_a_Riz , Jan 12th at 12:49 PM

Snowfious

It's normal that copper hoops don't exist in the game, it's like trying to create flint ingots xD!

💬 Snowfious, Jan 12th at 1:43 AM

It would seem the "Hoop Mold" isn't working correctly. I cannot pour copper into it at all.

💬 Zack_a_Riz , Jan 8th at 2:32 PM

Laerino

Yes, I had the idea too, it should be in the next update. As for the reinforced molds, it won't break the vanilla mechanics because it will be a new item for the 'late game.' These will be specific molds with a crafting recipe, so they won't replace the basic molds. :)

But yes, I also think the config file will be important!

💬 Zack_a_Riz , Jan 8th at 2:28 PM

Xerog

I do plan to update this, including the model of the mold in question. However, my goal is for this mold to be used multiple times for mass production. My intention is not to replace the forging mechanics, but rather to help with mass production when there are many items to craft. For example, I’m thinking about windmill parts, which require nails and bands!

💬 Laerinok, Jan 8th at 1:28 PM

Salut,

Do you plan to make large mold for plates, like the large ingot mold? (I like the choice for x6, x8 or x10 ingots)

I’m curious and testing the mod, but I already had the MoreMold mod, which adds all these molds (except the saw and the scythe) and works very well (as long as you manually add red clay to the recipe for version 1.20).

However, a config file would be a very big "plus"! There are molds or features we might not want, like the "Reinforced mold (protects from bad weather" (which, in my opinion, goes against the vanilla game). Being able to enable/disable specific molds would be perfect!

💬 Xerog, Jan 8th at 7:20 AM

With the nails and strips why not just put it at 100 units and make the 4 like when you beat it out on the anvil?
