What

This mod just removes the extra-creepy sound FX of the rifts themselves. The temporal drain SFX isn't affected, so you'll hear your temporal stability draining away when you're near any rifts.

As an asset system mod it's client-side only.

Why

Silent Rifts probably has a limited audience. It's either to add some extra challenge with or without invisible rifts, or it's a QoL fix for those who can't stand the creepy, popping sound of temporal rifts.

How

It's a simple asset replacer. The rift sound effect file is swapped for a silent file of the same length using the normal asset-modding system. Soundfile compression means it's tiny.
