To place the quern on top of the chute, do the following:

1. Place the chute and rotate it as you want.
2. Place dirt blocks all around the chute.
3. Now place a dirt block on top of the chute.
4. Place the quern on top of the dirt block.
5. Break the dirt block below the quern. The quern will drop onto the chute.
6. Break the other dirt blocks around the chute.
7. Place your chests and power as desired.
8. Win!

EDIT: This was tested on 1.20.4 Stable.  Should also work for 1.20.5 and 1.20.6

How did you place the quern on top of the chute? It says "Needs solid ground" for me. And removing a support block from beneath destroys the quern.

Oh thank god for this mod. It's such a pain in the ass to automate the quern in vanilla, this not only saves hours of gameplay but a ton of ores as well. Definitely should be in vanilla. 

The chute below is not working for me, at least. It says that the quern has to be on a solid block

anyone confirm if this works in stable? just want to make sure before adding it to a server.

Nice mod, I feel like inverting the output and input would make more sense?, I mean input above with the output sideways or on the bottom.
