Latest release (for outdated Vintage Story v1.20.0-pre - v1.20.6):
BetterFPCamera v1.3.0.zip
1-click install
This mod enhances first person immersion by introducing a more dynamic and interesting camera!
- Dynamic Camera Tilt: Subtle camera tilt that responds to your current movement direction. The camera will also tilt based on the direction of incoming damage!
- Damage-Based Screenshake: Feel the impact of hits with screenshake that scales with the amount of damage taken!
- Enhanced Headbob: A more polished headbobbing animation that simulates horizontal movement!
- Expanded Screenshake: Experience additional immersion with screenshake when placing or destroying blocks, firing bows, throwing spears, and when dropping/throwing out items!
- Improved Player Death Camera: The player's hand model is now hidden to prevent clipping issues, the player can no longer rotate left or right after dying, and a new view roll effect simulates the player lying on the ground!
Should work fine with immersive first person mode enabled, and should not affect the third person camera in any way
Uses a configuration file that you may modify if you wish to change anything!
Reported to be compatible with the Bullseye mod!

Hey, love the mod! I noticed today that distant player nametags jump all over the screen when moving around. ...Just a minor thing I noticed that I thought I should share; although I understand it might be harder than it's worth to fix. Regardless, great mod!
Thx for the update of the mod !! <3
Does anyone know why this mods zeroes my fps from time to time?
Amazing mod, pairs great with verticality climbing/crawling mod
Great mod, thank you.
Insane, this looks and feels so good! Outstanding work :)
Vari_Ares Sorry for the wait, just released a new update that should work for the latest game version! Thanks for the kind words!
Hi, the mod is broken for 1.20 can u fix it please ? I LOVE IT SO MUCH !!! <3
In love with this. Thank you for making this mod. Could I request a seperate config line for strafing roll? I prefer having forwards and backwards movement remain default, and only affect the camera on left/right strafing!
Zanklev Hmm, yeah I think I'll reverse the tilting and add an option in the mod config for people who may prefer the way is currently is now
Looks great but it would probably be better if it tilted into your turn instead of away from it
Note for everyone, if u want the head to tilt in the direction of where your going put a negavtive valvue in the tilt strength, in the config. Dont know if this affects the other kinds of tilts.
I essentially tested out the mod before it was published here. I like it a lot as it makes movement feel a bit more dynamic and as someone who plays in immersive first person mode from time to time, I felt no obstructions in terms of camera movement messing up the player model or vice versa.
If you are a fan of retro FPS cameras, such as the first person feel of Quake games, I think the mod is a perfect addition to your game 😁
RuneScholar Glad to hear! I did work directly with camera matrices in the code to ensure that this mod would likely work on most versions of the game and with other mods
I had a compatibility concern, so I went ahead and tested it, and would just like to report that the mod seems to have no incompatibilities with the Bullseye mod.
MRGOOSE Yeah, in retrospect that probably would have been a good idea!
can you add a video so we can know what it looks like?
