Note that many of these changes were inspired by existing mods for the game, but all were written from scratch and tweaked to my liking. As such, this is mostly for personal usage, but feel free to try it if you like the ideas. Please report any bugs or mistakes you encounter; if any are game-breaking, simply remove the mod, as there are no worldgen changes as of now. Here's a list of changes:
AGRICULTURE / FOOD
- Tree seed drop rate increased (same value for all trees for now)
- Cheese satiety improved (cottage 250, ched/blue 500)
- Fruit tree root chance increased to 85%
- Fruit tree graft chance increased to 70%
- Composting time reduced to 10 days
- Composting yield doubled to 32
HUNTING / ANIMAL PRODUCTS
- Carcass mining hastened
- Hides no longer rot
- Hares always drop 1 small hide
- Leatherworking fluid requirements changed (values from simplified leatherworking mod)
- All leatherworking processes now take 24 hours
SMITHING / COOKING
- Notable fuel burn times increased modestly
- Steel bits can be resmelted at a high temperature
BUILDING
- Ashlar block non-mortar-based recipe created (4:1 bricks-to-blocks)
- Ashlar block mortar-based recipe yield doubled to 4
- Dry stone recipe yield doubled to 2
- Packed and arid dirt can be converted back into low fert soil
- Mudbricks always drop when mined
- Mudbrick slabs can be crafted from blocks with a saw
- 2x4 gate recipe requires 4 nails and strips rather than 10
DECOR / FURNITURE
- All crates can hold 25 slots worth of items (same as standardcrates mod)
- Vertical racks no longer require an adjacent block face
- Candles no longer fall when airborne (to make chiseling candleholders painless)
- Torch holder variants provided for most metals
TOOLS / MISC ITEMS
- Wrench durability increased significantly for every tier
- Sticks can be crafted from firewood with a knife
- Temporal gears stack to 32
- Shields have 100% active and 0% passive block chance
- Sacks and backpacks can be recycled with a knife (at some loss)
- Twine can be unraveled back into fibers
- Buckets stack to 5 (idea yoinked from Guimoute's mod)

rosysyn jsyk, there's a mod called Fields of Salt, and it adds the ability to turn water/seawater or something into salt by just evaporating it. it's not terribly unbalanced, though I haven't used it, since you need a lot of water for any meaningful amount of salt and that can get annoying. it also takes a while, iirc.
rosysyn All of the tweaks in the mod are a result of me going "huh, that's annoying", but I use Expanded Foods on basically every world which makes preservation more varied. Now that you mention it, I may well add a patch for it or make a separate mod. Thanks :-] (and yeah, agreed about salt. maybe I'll do water filtration at some point)
This is a great lil compilation of tweaks! Surprised to see animal fat drop rates unchanged though - that was the first thing I changed on my server, as cooking (and preserving food!) without a consistent source of fat was painful... I won't get started on salt, either.
I haven't made time to add configuration to the mod, but I did just release an update to nerf the most powerful changes: fuel and leatherworking times. Fuel is still much longer-lasting than vanilla (I find vanilla burn times ridiculous) but won't completely disrupt game balance anymore. Leatherworking times have all been doubled from 12 to 24 hours.
I looked into Maltiez's configuration library, and apparently it can be used without code, so I'm going to work on implementing that as an optional dependency. Also, I'm open to balancing suggestions :-]
AzuliBluespots I would quite like to do this, although I'm not versed in C# or the game's API, so I'm not sure how difficult that would be. Everything should be pretty easy to change (or remove) if you intend to use it in singleplayer, but I know that's still not an ideal solution. I'll look into solutions when I get a chance.
Any chance to make this configurable? That's a nice list, but a few of them feel a bit too cheaty. Not much, just a bit.
