ItemRecycle-VS1.19.3_v0.4.0.zip 1-click install

Summary:

This mod is my first mod for Vintage Story. This mod is mostly intended for use on the Vector Online Gaming Vintage Story server. The focus is to make non-renewable item crafts, such as those that contain metal, able to be recycled for non-renewable materials back.

Prerequisites:

This mod works best with, but does not require XSkills. This mod was balanced with XSkills in mind to try and avoid any net gain (free material) loops when considering a smith with Metal Recovery level 3 doing the items creation work.

Usage & Formula:

To recycle an item, place a chisel in the crafting grid above the item you want to break down to metal bits. Only the metal will be returned.

The formula for calculating returns is as follows:

[20 bits (1 ingot worth)] - [how many metal bits are returned during smithing (with XSkills installed and a smith with Metal Recovery level 3)] = [metal bits gained when recyling the item].

Multiple items per ingot smiths such as the 9 arrowheads will have the recovery results divided by the amount of items created per ingot and rounded down to the nearest whole number.

Metal bits returned per item when broken back down:

Recipes:

Arrow: 1
Axe: 18
Blackguard Shortsword: 14
Chisel: 7
Cleaver: 17
Falx: 19
Hammer: 19
Hoe: 5
Knife: 8
Pickaxe: 11
Prospecting Pick: 7
Saw: 10
Scythe: 10
Shears: 11
Shovel: 17
Spear: 15

* All tool and weaponheads can be broken down as well.

Planned Additions:

- Metal Accessories
- Metal Shields

Use at your own risk! I make no guarantees of future support, but all i did was add recipes that should work through any version that does not change the crafting system. This mod was only ever uploaded with the intention of making the Vector Online Gaming Vintage Story server auto-update clients without issue.

@Deszeraeth Thank you, it seems to work just fine on 1.18.5

Strawberry_Moon
There should be no harm in trying it since all it does is add recipes, not custom items. Just make a back up of your game save or server before adding or removing the mod if you are worried. Since the recipes used information given on the wiki for version 1.16 it should work that far back. Once again though, use at your own risk.

Does anyone know if this mod will work with older versions of VS. 1.18.15 for example?

Pervy_Sage The results per item are listed above in the description now and will be the same regardless if XSkills is installed or not. If someone knows a way for me to create an in-game command that toggled between multiple different folders of recipes i would include that in this mod.

Deszeraeth So is that balance with XSkills included if XSkills isn't include? Aka, does one get back all the would if the tool broke normall if they don't have XSkills installed?

Bobosaw It is working now. I have to stress that i made this mod mostly for use for Vector Online Gaming. Right now it is great for recycling metal tools and some metal weapons. My focus has been on recovering portions of non-renewables with balance geared towards those who also have XSkills mod installed so there is not an infinite loop with a net gain (free materials).

Hey man. This seems like a super interesting mod. Hopefully you get it working soon!
