Recommended download (for Vintage Story v1.20.x):
stainedbeams 1.2.1.zip
1-click install
Features:
Adds three darker variants of support beams to the game.
Stained support beams are crafted by sealing any support beams in a barrel with weak tannin.
Dark stained support beams are crafted by sealing any support beams in a barrel with strong tannin, or stained beams in weak tannin once more.
Black support beam are crafted by sealing any support beams in a barrel with black dye, or dark stained beams in strong tannin once more.
Note: the fourth beams in the images (the lightest ones) are ebony wood beams, the darkest wood beams in the vanilla game.
-with the latest release, the block used by the beams has been changed.
On the first game join Vintage Story will ask you to remap your old stained beams to the new ones.
On the second join the beams will have been replaced.
-stained beams now correctly support rock stability again.
-stained beams are now just variants of the vanilla blocktype, previously they were their own block.
fixed the blocktype used by the beams
blocks are still the same as in v1.2.0, remapping still only required for blocks before v1.2.0
the basegame uses a wrongly named.json (su-ppp-ortbeam instead of su-pp-ortbeam) that I renamed locally by accident and did not notice.
mod now correctly points to "suppportbeam" - will update again once the basegame fixes the name.

I love the colors. Could we get a version of this but uses diffrent types of wood with the color being based off of the wood type? Then with the colors we can't get with diffrent wood we can dye. Only have to make the oak wood version stainable, as its known to be one of the best to take a stain.
Alright that's fair, suppose I was caught up by the idea of a scaling slider of "really darK stain" to "no stain" and didn't factor in that weak tannin would just simply not be dark enough to work past a point.
Dragonknight951 In my head it feels a bit off to get to black stain by applying another light coat with weak tannin. Taking your scale as a base I would say black dye and stain is 4 points, so 2 layers of strong tannin are needed, while weak tannin can only get you so far and won´t make a dark stained beam even darker.
I feel like the black ones could probably get away with being either Normal + dye, Stained + strong tannin or Dark stained + weak tannin instead of just Normal + dye or Dark stained + strong tannin. Make it a sliding scale basically.
Normal board: 0 stain points
Stained: 1 stain points
Dark stained: 2 stain points
Black: 3 stain points
1 stain point per weak tannin, 2 stain points per strong tannin(double strength both in how you make it and how it's used), 3 stain points per black dye.
thank you Rapidash It took some time for me to get back to the game/modding. Issue was found and resolved, and the size of the beams in the inventory/handbook were updates to match the others.
When interacting with the empty space under the 'created by' section in the handbook for each beam, crashes the game. 1.19.8 SP creative.
