The scope:

My current plan is implementing a map system that relies less on in-game UI and more on tools. Ideally the new map will be displayed on a handheld (or not) piece of paper or a book. Regarding the charting of the map I'm still unsure but the two main options are (which could both be included perhaps) would be:

    1. Automatically mapping areas around you except sort of like the current in-game map but providing less information.
    2. Giving the player all the tools to draw his own map from scratch (such implementation would require a lot of work to create something similiar to "drawing board" system.

For those who know, the feel should remind you of the minecraft Antique Atlas mod, but way more feature-complete and grounded in the actual in-game world.

It's a very ambitious plan and my skills with coding are rather limited so I'm unsure on how I will go about on about this.

Once the basis for the actual map is laid I plan to start adding proper mapping tools that could help you use the sun (sundials?) or similiar. Such systems could help remove the other unrealistic element of the UI: the coordinates. It's important to note that this is not the main scope of the mod and will likely either be a separate addon or disableable via config.

Michaloid as it stands this is just an idea I had a year ago, haven't put any work into it and don't plan to for the time being... I'm focused on creating more decorative blocks for the game and improving my modding skills through that... but maybe one day 👀

Even though the second option would be fire, for your sake i would do the first, but if you have enough motivation to do the second, then trying won't hurt i guess.
