Cheese making is second only to steel making for comlpexity yet, in the end, an entire barrel of milk yields two wheels of cheese that together supply barely more than one sat bar of value. That makes cheese almost worthless for return on investment. This mod is the first step to correcting that imbalance. The mod adjusts the sat values as follows:
Slice of cheese = 750 (both cheddar and blue)
1l of mllk = 200 (equal to fruit juice)
1l of cottage cheese = 300 (to reward time and salt cost)
Also increases the sat values of select fruit to eliminate penalties:
Cranberries = 80 (like other fruit)
Saguaro = 80 (It's hard to find and can't be farmed)
The second step of this campaign will be to increase the yield of a barrel to five wheels with the same total salt cost. That is a work in progress.
This mod must be installed on your server only (or your client machine if solo play). The mod only adjusts asset files with no code involved yet.
Let me know if you enjoy this mod. The values selected can be endlessly debated so make your own adjustments if you disagree with mine. Please don't debate them here.

cranberries have a lower sat value as other berries have shorter spoilage times. Let the berries be.
otherwise, much needed

More troubling, I don't think you can salt 25l to make a single wheel. The ratios for recipes should always multiply and divide reasonably. They don't. 5 wheels at 10l per wheel would make the ratios much better and reward the pain of cheesemaking. The aging for cheese is also very broken and first counts down days and then starts showing negative days and takes forever to age out.
Thank you for your attention and concern for cheese! Cheese is most definitely a high density food and your numbers make way more sense for a quarter wheel of cheese. I love your idea of 5 wheels per barrel. May also solve the current problem when trying to work with half barrels, apparently you can't salt 5L of curdled milk to get cottage cheese.
Sheogorath would be proud. Great addition!
Noted but the storage time is still very short and I don't agree with the tradeoff. Saguaro fruit heal 1hp but they are too rare and perishable for that buff to matter much.
note, cranberries had lower sat to cover their bonus of doubled spoilage time*
