Sands of Time changes the world generation of deserts in Vintage Story.

In the real world we do have colorful beaches and deserts although relatively speaking they are very very rare compared to all the rest, which due to erosion and breakdown over time tend to all be that rather recognizable "yellow". This is because it has been reduced to a silica bearing sand, not all silica sands are the same which leads to variations in those yellow and even red hues but generally speaking they can be categorized as silica. What this mod aims to do is bring the world generation of deserts (both cold and hot) into line with that real world expectation.

  • Adds several layers of sandstone sand to deserts.
  • As altitude climbs the sand layers thin out.
  • Mineral sand layers rest below the sandstone sand.
  • As altitude dips below sea level the layers thin out to emulate errosion.

Changes: 1.0.1

  • Sands of Time is now a patch so it will (hopefully) avoid conflict with other world generation mods.

Roadmap:

  • Allow more silica sand types other than just sandstone sand.
  • Allow rare variation of deserts which can be entirely mineral sand (Colored Deserts).
