Latest file for v1.19.4-rc.1:
updatedtexturesandmodels_0.8.6.zip 1-click install

this is a realism-themed texture pack for vintage story. among many things it gives each stone type a detailed and unique texture that is faithful to their real life counterparts, and it also includes new 3D models for various crops, cacti, roofing types, leather backpacks, chests, querns, and so on.

this texture pack does not at this time account for any assets added by other installed mods, and any other mods that utilize the vanilla assets that this pack changes might do so in a manner that is not elegant to those mods

Trying to use this mod with https://mods.vintagestory.at/sortablestorage but the textures look all wrong. Any way to make it work with that?

EDIT: The guy who makes Sortable Storage has fixed it in the latest release (2.2.2).

💬 Bone_D, Feb 17th at 9:46 PM

I like it great job!

💬 rynaAuthor, Feb 15th at 8:21 PM

Iver no i recommend just never using this texture pack alongside other mods basically

💬 Iver, Feb 15th at 4:17 PM

It seems there is a problem with Natural Trail mod paths. It seems very ugly. Like there is no texture or something with it. Is compatibility with this mod planned ryna?

💬 rynaAuthor, Feb 15th at 3:07 AM

Iver most people do not like the appearance of this texture pack so its not really for the vanilla audience. but yea the 1.19.4 version is backwards compatible AFAIK because the mod itself only requests 1.19.0

💬 Iver, Feb 14th at 2:23 PM

Maybe another candidate for incorporating into vanilla Tyron

💬 Iver, Feb 14th at 2:21 PM

Is 1.19.4 version backward compatible to 1.19.3 ryna?

💬 DrBubba, Feb 5th at 8:34 PM

It's just a texture thing, ryna.  The textures for their chests are all grey checkerboards with your mod active.  It's far from critical, but I wasn't sure if this was something you would need to fix or something they would need to fix.  To some degree, the grey chests look decent against my cobblestone walls since they kind of blend in, but it also makes things less "pretty", so...damned if you do, damned if you don't!  🤣

💬 rynaAuthor, Feb 5th at 3:15 AM

DrBubba hello drbubba. so whats the problem with Sortable Storage? this mod changes the 3D models that chests/trunks use, ive never heard of Sortable Storage but if they also have their own custom chest models then theres definitely gonna be a conflict

💬 DrBubba, Feb 3rd at 5:58 PM

ryna

Loving this mod and wondering, based on your comments in the notes, how one would go about getting your textures to play nicely with, for example, chests from Sortable Storage?  Is that something that this mod needs to change or something the other mods needs to do?  Just trying to wrap my head around i, if you could help explain it.  Thanks, mate!  I have a hard time playing without this mod because of how much I love your plant/crop texture changes.

Donovar vanilla only has blue clay + fire clay

💬 Donovar, Jan 19th at 2:36 AM

The Brown and Red clay in soil isnt covered by it, pretty sure those are base game just not implemented

💬 rynaAuthor, Jan 19th at 2:10 AM

Donovar a config file would require code and i dont know or condone any computer languages. this texture pack is known to visually clash with other asset-heavy mods and i dont recommend pairing them. Which vanilla things does it conflict with?

💬 Donovar, Jan 19th at 12:11 AM

Could you include a config file to possibly pick textures and models to implement. As of now some of the new updated models and textures can conflict heavily with other mods and even some vanilla things.

💬 rynaAuthor, Jan 9th at 1:20 PM

iodide i dont have a clue what any of that means

💬 iodide, Dec 20th 2023 at 12:11 AM

FYI ryna, i installed the mod using the 1-click install and on launch the game identified an unnamed missing mod called '<4>game@1.19.0-pre.9...'. When I tried to go through the autoresolve, it was unable to download it, and because of the name I can't figure out whats missing.

💬 rynaAuthor, Nov 17th 2023 at 9:49 AM

Botaxalim if it's only improved models that u seek, i believe the vanilla artist will improve everything in time. for 1.19 she has remodeled a couple big things, and im sure she will continue to go over everything

💬 Botaxalim, Nov 17th 2023 at 8:51 AM

i wish there version only enhance model/shapes , love ur plants, roof, bag and container stuff, but somehow the texture is out of the world (grass, wood ect)
tried to fiddle around with deleting some files in the (/patches) mods, but doest work well

💬 rynaAuthor, Nov 17th 2023 at 4:21 AM

Annastasija in that case all we can do is repeat the mantra that ted was right

💬 Annastasija, Nov 17th 2023 at 2:00 AM

I am using 1.18 but I got the older version to match it and it still shows nothing, I tried a different texture pack and it works .... almost fine. Not sure what I've done wrong.

💬 rynaAuthor, Nov 16th 2023 at 2:34 PM

Annastasija ur probably just on 1.18. the latest version of the texture pack requires 1.19 which i don't recommend actually playing until they officially release it.

💬 Annastasija, Nov 15th 2023 at 3:06 AM

Am I being dumb, I load this like a normal mod but nothing changes... What am I doing wrong?

💬 Annastasija, Nov 12th 2023 at 7:15 AM

@Ryna Thank you <3

💬 rynaAuthor, Nov 10th 2023 at 1:07 AM

Annastasija yes. the grass texture will be removed, it will use the vanilla asset as of the next version which i will be uploading in time for the 1.19 update. the next version will also include a fancy new model for chests & trunks.

edit: i posted a 1.19 pre release version but i'll post again later for the full release as i am expecting more asset changes

💬 Annastasija, Nov 9th 2023 at 3:28 AM

can we get a version with less noisy grass blocks, more smooth like vanilla. I have bad eyes and it makes things hard to see. I also like the smoother vanilla <3

💬 rynaAuthor, Aug 11th 2023 at 3:02 PM

adres4t the stone path model is just a file in the mod's shape folder so u can definitely open the folder and extract it, but i believe that model also references a non-vanilla texture so don't forget to pair that with it

💬 adres4t, Aug 7th 2023 at 9:48 PM

Hi. Is there a way to use the stone path shape clientside? Anyone knows?

💬 rynaAuthor, May 10th 2023 at 10:20 PM

beloved Runehawk

💬 RuneScholar, May 10th 2023 at 8:04 AM

I'm glad to see you're still developing this, Ryna, even while the game adds more things for you to texture and model.

💬 rynaAuthor, Apr 25th 2023 at 8:34 PM

Mendall the stone textures in this pack (and subsequently their respective gravels and sands) are also not the same color as their vanilla versions, so if you were to use the modded stone textures alongside the vanilla sand textures there would be a major mismatch

💬 Mendall, Apr 25th 2023 at 6:31 PM

"Sand being chisel-able at all seems questionable" this I have to agree with. But I will use what I got too nonetheless.

As for "I'm not interested in a hybrid project" I say that's cool to each his own. But "and there is no infrastructure to create one" is the important part.

That is the thing I really wanted an answer to. I just wanted to know if there was a way we, the end user, could pick and choose. If not, no biggie. Thanks for the answer.

The textures still look great, good work.

💬 rynaAuthor, Apr 25th 2023 at 10:18 AM

Mendall Yanazake im not interested in a hybrid product like that, and there's no infrastructure to create one. as for the sand thing, it's only used as a chisel material in vanilla because the vanilla sand texture is close enough to being a flat colored block. if it had a wave pattern on it or anything evoking sand it's going to be a lot less usable as an entry in a color palette. the main reason im not compelled to optimize sand for it's role as a chisel material is because sand being chiselable at all seems questionable.

💬 AzuliBluespots, Apr 24th 2023 at 10:24 AM

Mendall

I kinda asked about that before, but no direct answer.

💬 Mendall, Apr 17th 2023 at 9:14 PM

Is there a way in this pack to pick and choose to use some but not all.  While all the textures look great some of them are not practical, the sand for instance. Sand is used by chiselers to represent a lot of things. but the texture you chose is way to busy for it to be used for much. so I’m torn. I sure would love to have those sweet plant textures, and those amazing baskets Etc... but not so much the sand and roof tiles. (another texture that I use for other things in chiseling projects). Also do the log shave a debarked version. Over all though your art style is beautiful. Great work.

Caliber76 it works on my end but ive reuploaded it with a possible solution. let me know if it works

💬 Caliber76, Apr 5th 2023 at 8:26 AM

this mod currently DOES NOT work for 1.18 rc2.

💬 rynaAuthor, Mar 19th 2023 at 1:19 AM

Craluminum i'll make some educated guesses about what that means and then if it still functions i'll upload it

💬 DanaCraluminum, Mar 18th 2023 at 11:10 AM

Could you please move all patches into mod domain instead game domain? Otherwise it should definitely conflict with mods that have the same names of patches

💬 Taraknore, Dec 11th 2022 at 3:11 PM
So first of all a big compliment - the mod looks very good -
but what should perhaps be adjusted sit - the structure of the wooden plank blocks -
the vanilla system looks better there, because all the planks here are only linear and the same size. Furthermore,
the "old wood" is unfortunately much too light. I would get darker here, that's what the old wood made out
💬 rynaAuthor, Nov 29th 2022 at 6:59 PM

Pheargrimm thank you for the compliment pheargrimm

💬 Pheargrimm, Nov 29th 2022 at 3:31 AM

Damn your mod is good looking, nicely done man, nicely done.

💬 Jimzawy, Nov 13th 2022 at 8:14 AM

ryna  I'd gladly download anything from someone who's working tirelessly and has a sense of humor as good as yours, I am still in my first playthrough, checking the full vanilla experience plus some semi vanilla QOL mods, before doing an overhaul, though I hope hard worked mods like yours eventually become "Canon"

💬 rynaAuthor, Nov 12th 2022 at 10:09 PM

Jimzawy I have updated the mod.. pray I do not update it further.

Also what do you mean by "safely", there's nothing safe about this. If you download this file you become mine.

💬 Jimzawy, Nov 12th 2022 at 8:28 PM

Yo, ryna, I'm following your mod, waiting till most "interations" are done so I can install it safely, ease up on the hourly updates dude, what are you? Adobe? J.K., keep up the good work 😀

💬 rynaAuthor, Nov 8th 2022 at 12:42 AM

OmegaHaxors yeah, seems pretty simple, that's how the wiki described it as well. i tried overwriting files for Wildcraft (modid: wildcraft), nothing would register ingame. IDK what the issue was but it had to be something stupid.

💬 OmegaHaxors, Nov 7th 2022 at 9:52 PM

ryna
Since the wiki isn't very clear i'll explain it better:

First you go to your mod's assets/[modid] folder (if there isn't one, make one)
Create a new folder there called "compatibility" (make sure to spell it right)
Now create a folder within that with the name of the modid you want to work with
Everything within that folder works just like your mod's assets folder.

So to replace a texture from the mod "foomod" you would put your assets here: assets/yourmod/compatibility/foomod/textures
If you want to replace a model from the mod "barmod" you would put your assets here: assets/yourmod/compatibility/barmod/shapes

You can also use JSON tags within the game folder to do advanced filtering, such as only load assets if a mod is NOT installed, but that's not really something you need to worry about.
EDIT: Since you're overriding assets you might need to put it in assets/game instead of assets/[modid] not quite sure how that interaction works.

💬 rynaAuthor, Nov 7th 2022 at 3:00 PM

OmegaHaxors that looks like exactly what i need and it sounds incredibly simple but it is not working for me, and it is probably some trivial mistake. I spent about an hour on it though.

💬 OmegaHaxors, Nov 7th 2022 at 4:18 AM

You can add assets for mods by putting them in the "compatibility" folder. They'll only load if the relevant mod is also loaded.
Just treat it like modifing the base game with the exception being that it's in the "compatibility" folder instead of the game folder.

You can use the wiki for an example of what I mean by this.

💬 rynaAuthor, Nov 6th 2022 at 12:55 PM

Runehawk thanks for letting me know, Wildcraft is generally soft-incompatible right now since it adds new game content that is textured in the style of itself or vanilla so I wouldn't overall recommend using this texture pack with it yet even if there weren't hard-incompatibilities as well- but once I figure out how to override the files of other installed mods, Wildcraft is definitely be on the list of mods I intend to support.

💬 RuneScholar, Nov 6th 2022 at 7:36 AM

Enjoying the textures, but there is a compatibility issue with the Wildcraft mod. That mod's textures rely on the vanilla textures fore berry bushes. The berry bushes from Wildcraft, therefore, appear constantly in the empty phase, never showing the flowering or berry textures, although they are in those states. It's a small incompatibility, but I thought I'd share it.

Tressym

I had no idea Minecraft had this kind of stuff, I was thinking more along the lines of how Oblivion and Skyrim achieve it through a mod manager. It 's still a zip file in a way, but it has a script which the mod manager reads and lets you pick what you want from the mod. Problem is, since there are some model replacements, things might get messy. I'm REALLY not sure how this game works internally compared to Elder Scrolls, so I'm not sure it's possible without generating maybe a new file on the fly for whatever you picked needs to be in a json file or whatever might be the file with block/entity/tool data

💬 rynaAuthor, Nov 5th 2022 at 2:40 PM

Tressym it's intentionally required on the server for a few reasons that technically affect gameplay in small ways, such as the modifcation of clayforming recipes in order to stay on parity with the new models, or the modification of cull-faces as you mentioned, and other general patches that get applied to the cosmetic parameters of "blocktypes" files. It will never be a client-side mod, and I agree that this is unfortunate.

💬 Tressym, Nov 5th 2022 at 6:02 AM

ryna

What Craluminum means by "add version to mod archive name" is that you add a version number to the file you upload, so that the Files tab will show a list of past uploads, older versions of the mod and their changelogs. For example, naming the file "updated_testures_and_models_1.0", then the next version you upload is named "updated_testures_and_models_1.1" and so on.

By the way, I've tried to use this mod, picked and choose what I want to use from the files, but have run into some issues. Singleplayer, the mod works fine. In multiplayer, it turns off completely. I had to go into modinfo.json and change "requiredOnServer" from true to false just to get some of the content to work, but some models still refuse to load. Some models load just fine, like the new berry bushes. Others refuse to load the new model and just use vanilla, like the reeds. One model that I liked unfortunately caused some issues, which was the quern. The model loads fine, but the top face of any block it is placed on will cull (appear invisible), showing the skybox through the floor on its' four corners. It does not do this in single player, which is just really strange.

I've disabled the mod for now and have just given up using it for Multiplayer, which is too bad.

💬 Tressym, Nov 5th 2022 at 5:53 AM

Craluminum

Modular means that they can pick and choose what to use or not use in a texture pack (textures, models, etc) in a way that is simple for the average player and doesn't require picking through files. Minecraft is known to have some modular texture packs like that, but the only ones I know of host their own custom website that allows them to set it up in a way that makes it simple for individuals to pick and choose what they want. Not sure how it would be achieved here.

💬 DanaCraluminum, Nov 5th 2022 at 12:31 AM

Yanazake

What do you mean by "modular mod"?

💬 AzuliBluespots, Nov 4th 2022 at 11:56 PM

Dang, imagine if this was modular. Not sure if Vintage mods can be that modular tho.

💬 rynaAuthor, Nov 3rd 2022 at 11:16 AM

Craluminum i seen ur wood barrels mod. so it looks like thats a mod that adds content in the form of wood-specific barrel variants, which is something i could definitely add built-in support for if they have both our mods installed at the same time, but there's a list of questions that stem from that pertaining to how the game interprets the merge. Would it be my barrels that simply come in more texture variants, or would your barrel model replace mine but have my textures on it? Also, idk what "add version to mod archive name" means, so i'll probably DM you on discord in relation to both these questions

💬 DanaCraluminum, Nov 3rd 2022 at 10:43 AM

Have you seen barrel models in my Wood Barrels mod? Also, could you add version to the mod archive name?

💬 rynaAuthor, Nov 2nd 2022 at 10:11 PM

l33tmaan grass and rock textures are safe to delete, its generally safe to delete the texture files from anything that i havent also changed the model of

💬 l33tmaan, Nov 2nd 2022 at 9:57 PM

How easy is it to pick and choose the stuff from here? I like the new models for a lot of the stuff, but I cannot stand the grass or rock textures. Is it as simple as just removing them from the file or will that make my game explode?

💬 macoto_hino, Nov 2nd 2022 at 9:48 PM

It is certainly important to have the same square as the rest of the block, considering the chiseling.
When mod users want something new, mod makers also need something new. It's difficult.😅

💬 rynaAuthor, Nov 2nd 2022 at 9:00 PM

macoto_hino rounded tree trunks would be very cool but it wouldn't be compatible with chiseling, unless the models were specifically 'voxel-rounded' as opposed to simple 45-degree sloped/perfect-octagon models. i think voxel-rounded tree trunks would probably be bad for both aesthetic reasons as well as performance reasons, and implementing them would probaby require code as well..

💬 rynaAuthor, Nov 2nd 2022 at 8:51 PM

the 2D cattails were the spark that started the pack, and this is just one of the positive effects they have had on me. you should see what those things were doing to me the other day

💬 macoto_hino, Nov 2nd 2022 at 8:34 PM

That's a damn good mod!
Now if only the tree trunks were rounded, even better!😆
