Latest release (for outdated Vintage Story v1.20.0 - v1.20.4):
pewter_1.2.3.zip  1-click install

Pewter

NOTE: As of v1.2.0, Gold and Silver tableware has been moved into a separate addon.

Overview

Adds pewter as an alloy and craftable metal tableware. The alloy mixture of Pewter is:

  • Tin (80-95%)
  • Lead (5-10%)
  • Copper (1-5%)

Items added that can be made of pewter are:

  • Crocks
    • Holds 6 servings instead of 4. Must be assembled from parts that are casted separately.
  • Bowls
  • Jugs
    • Holds 5 liters instead of 3.
  • Candle lamp
    • Similar to oil lamps, created with a pewter bowl and candle.
  • Candelabra
    • Provides light level of 14 and can be placed on walls and floors.

Addons

Mods are available that add other metal variants of tableware; these mods rely on Pewter being installed:

These addons are JSON only, so it is possible for others to create similar addons for other metal types. Let me know if you need help creating your own.

Future Plans

  • Watering can.
  • Flask or cup.

Known Issues

  • Candelabras placed before v1.1.2 will be broken by remaps included in v1.1.2; I recommend breaking them and picking them up prior to migrating to v1.1.2 and beyond in older worlds.
  • Please post any bugs found here.

I assume neither this nor it's addons will be back-ported to 1.19.8 for those who prefer to stick to it to use mods that haven't updated and/or for performance reasons(I'm in both catagories).

Nevermind, decided to test if they work in 1.19.8 despite not being marked as compatible and they seem to work fine, at least effectively on their own

💬 LunaGore, 5 days ago

Any plans on making chandeliers?

💬 Kida_Mei, May 4th at 3:14 AM

Would absolutely love to see copper versions of these, like the gold/silver/brass additions! :)

💬 Ragolution, Apr 17th at 3:03 PM

The_Red_God
Make a crock mold and pour pewter into it. You also need a lid mold to make lids. Then you craft the base+lid together to complete the crock.

💬 The_Red_God, Apr 13th at 9:05 PM

how do i make the crock?

💬 Faeldray, Mar 31st at 5:11 PM

May I make a suggestion? A metal cooking pot that holds more ingredients/servings (like 12 instead of 6). Art of Cooking already has one but it adds a bunch of other stuff too and I feel that this pot would fit right in with the rest of the mod.

💬 Hatrune_Cubic, Mar 11th at 6:37 AM

Thanks!

💬 Zach2039 , Mar 10th at 11:14 PM

Hatrune_Cubic

They should be included in each addon as a patch to the recipes and block types, to enable them and have them be craftable; let me look to see if I missed something. Thanks for the heads up!

EDIT: Should be fixed in Pewter in v1.2.2, and all addons v1.0.1; candelabra recipe outputs should use `attributes` similar to how lantern recipes are done in vanilla.

💬 Hatrune_Cubic, Mar 10th at 6:21 AM

Hey Zach! I have found out while creating my mod with support to your that your addons for silver gold electrum and brass doesnt have recipes for candelabras, or at least not in handbook. Is it a bug or u didnt put em yet?

💬 Tigerfang, Mar 5th at 10:04 AM

On the topic of the metal bowls, I think 1.5 servings might be the magic number, if possible. That way a crock still fills 4 bowls.

💬 Yarro, Mar 4th at 4:09 PM

Would it be possible to have the different metal types enabled/disabled via a config option? I dislike adding more mods than I have to tbh.

💬 Joblerone, Feb 27th at 11:20 PM

if you're still taking suggestions - every time I see the un-lidded pewter crock, i keep thinking of it as a cooking pot. is it possible to make a recipe that converts one to the other so we can have food visually appear inside it like we can with cooking pots? i wouldn't be asking for an Art-of-Cooking style upgrade in capacity, just a different visual style we could use for the same tasks (though it would end up being more work on you, since residue-covered cooking pots are a thing)

Are you available on Discord? My Discord handle is the same as my username on ModDB. If you could send your world file and logs, I can try to debug.

I'm worried the remaps I included in v1.1.2 to migrate candlelamps and candelabras are not working with the latter quite right.

💬 Ket, Feb 27th at 5:52 PM

Seconding the '?' block problem, except we never updated to 1.2.0, only 1.1.2. Affected blocks are wall mounted pewter candleabras. the bowl+candle on the wall and every other item we've made are unaffected.
Additonally: they were fine yesterday, we haven't made any changes/updates since the 21st.

💬 Zach2039 , Feb 26th at 7:21 PM

KromaVeli

Must have missed it; will fix later today.

EDIT: Fixed with v1.2.1

💬 KromaVeli, Feb 26th at 4:52 PM

а кувшины? их нельзя разобрать!

💬 Thranos, Feb 26th at 4:27 AM

It was outright named something along the lines of "Unknown Item", where my pewter candle bowls were up on the wall. Unsure what happened, and they didn't revert when I rolled back the version either. Really odd, and possibly not related to the mod considering that. Thanks for the feedback regardless.

💬 Zach2039 , Feb 26th at 12:08 AM

Thranos

What are the block ids you are seeing on the "?" blocks? If it was gold and silver tableware, you'll need to install the addon for those metal types. It should still use the same block ids after the addon is installed, so there shouldn't be a need to remap.

💬 Thranos, Feb 25th at 11:03 PM

After updating to the new, modular version, I've been left with [?] blocks in my save that crash me when I attempt to break them. How would I go about fixing this?

💬 Caervec, Feb 25th at 4:59 AM

Would it be possible to get compatibility with Cut the Fat? Namely, being able to seal the crocks with the smaller pieces of fat from this mod.

💬 jhaury, Feb 24th at 11:15 PM

Thanks!

💬 Zach2039 , Feb 24th at 11:08 PM

Bowl and crock lid molds are now rackable in v1.2.0.

Aeonsteel

With the recent v1.2.0 release, metal tableware made from anything but Pewter has been moved into separate addons; you can find the Electrum addon here.

KromaVeli

All tableware is now recyclable into metal bits with v1.2.0, similar to how vanilla does metal recycling.

💬 jhaury, Feb 24th at 5:55 PM

It seems like the molds this mod adds to the game arent fully implemented as they cannot be stored in a vertical rack. Would this be something its possible to fix?

💬 Aeonsteel, Feb 22nd at 12:53 AM

Are there plans to add Electrum items, considering you added both Silver and Gold variants?

💬 KromaVeli, Feb 19th at 3:12 PM

добавьте пожалуйста вазможность разберать на кусочки с помощью зубила

💬 Ragolution, Feb 19th at 4:39 AM

Before you posted the update, a server restart seemed to solve the problem. I'm gonna guess something got caught in memory.

💬 Zach2039 , Feb 19th at 4:08 AM

Ragolution

I could not reproduce the gold candelabra crafting issue, though I did add a remaps file that should fix missing blocks. Give the new v1.1.2 a try on your world, and it should prompt you to remap blocks over to new ids.

💬 Ragolution, Feb 18th at 10:00 AM

One minor bug, crafting a gold candelabra produces one with a silver texture in-hand. This seems to only happen with one you've crafted. If you spawn it from creative, it still works correctly, and placing it still places it as gold.

Additionally, updating the mod seems to have broken all the placed pewter stuff I had in the world.

💬 Ragolution, Feb 18th at 4:47 AM

God bless you coderman

💬 Zach2039 , Feb 17th at 7:59 PM

Ragolution

Gold and silver variants are now available in v1.20.x-1.1.0; I thought to split them into their own mod, but that would have taken refactoring and patching via an addon which was a bit too much overhead.

EDIT: v1.20.x-1.1.1 released just now has a fix for gold and silver crocks not fillable from meal pots; sorry about that.

EDIT2: v1.20.x-1.2.0 now relies on an addon to add gold and silver variants; hopefully this helps reduce item clutter and allows a bit of control over what metal tableware is craftable.

💬 GrumpyOldMan1066, Feb 17th at 6:23 PM

My seraph continually throws himself off of cliffs or into bears' mouths even before I installed this mod, so I'm not sure I could tell the difference if he had lead poisoning.  :P

💬 DarkThoughts, Feb 17th at 5:36 PM

Thranos

Are they..? Vanilla VS does not have much lead ware, especially nothing you'd eat or drink out of. And I think lead poisoning is something that usually accumulates over time.

💬 NotQuiteNil, Feb 17th at 2:52 AM

Well if that isn't perfect timing. I literally just realized I forgot to track this mod when I downloaded it, and not five minutes later you've released an update.

💬 Thranos, Feb 10th at 8:28 PM

Good thing Seraphs are immune to lead poisoning!

💬 Ragolution, Feb 9th at 7:06 PM

Asking a little bit of a lot here, but would it be possible to make silver and gold bowls and crocks, too? It seems anathema since the mod is called 'pewter' but a few of my players have been clamouring for gold/silver candelabras and gold crocks to flaunt their wealth.

💬 Yarro, Feb 7th at 11:59 PM

Hi! This has quite possibly become one of my favorite mods, and I never knew how much I wanted bigger crocks until now. Keep up the good work, and thanks a ton!

💬 CKitt, Feb 7th at 9:37 PM

By all means, do what you believe to be correct! I can't, at all, fault any of your judgement so far. This mod perfectly fits vanilla, while adding a few nice options! It's entered my permanent modpack, so to speak.

💬 Zach2039 , Feb 2nd at 9:00 PM

CKitt

Originally, I had the bowls holding 2 servings; I couldn't get the scaling right to make it look like the bowl was larger and holding more food than the clay version, so I reverted it back to 1 before release. I could change the serving size back to 2, though I'd want to first try to tweak the scaling again or add another type of larger bowl.

💬 CKitt, Jan 31st at 3:38 PM

Zach2039

I absolutely adore this mod! I look forward to the watering can, and anything else you may add in the future. 👍 Any thoughts on making the bowl work like the porcelain ones in Bricklayers, where it holds 2 servings instead of 1?

You really nailed the muted silvery shine on the jug texture, as well. When the light catches it just right? Marvelous!

💬 GERMANIC_BOSTIL, Dec 29th 2024 at 3:19 PM

Waddup my N word, thoughts on releasing for 1.19 ?

💬 Zach2039 , Dec 24th 2024 at 3:05 AM

ZachJack1998

I can add compatibility for More Candles. For EF/ACA, I am using this mod on a private server that also runs EF/ACA and haven't run into any major issues; I can explore ACA resources to make sure I am doing everything on my end I can do for compat, just to be safe.

💬 ZachJack1998, Dec 22nd 2024 at 4:30 PM

Will this work with Expanded Foods/A Culinary Artillery? And with More Candles?

💬 radfast, Dec 22nd 2024 at 1:51 PM

Well done, this mod looks beautiful

💬 The_Red_God, Dec 20th 2024 at 11:00 PM

Lovely lead poisoning <3

💬 SniperGecko, Dec 20th 2024 at 9:56 PM

Love the idea of Pewter!!

Since Pewter is so soft irl; perhaps the ability to craft Pewter Lanterns using 2 ingots rather than plates would be worth it (accessing some simpler lanterns without smithing)
With that softness in mind; potentially able to turn any pewter object into bits using a hammer instead of a chisel

Perhaps also a Pewter Dinner Plate? Similar to bowls but holds 1.5x over bowls

Lastly; a smithable Pewter Figurine (9 ingots) that is nearly a block in size that Drifters, Shivers and Bowtorns will react to similar to if they had low health; but only effective for a few blocks? The thought is that its a non-rusting metal that is large and gray; and the rot creatures may feel uncomfortable by seeing it. It then gives Pewter a massive use (and an argument for using so much tin to make it)

💬 Vogi, Dec 20th 2024 at 9:54 PM

Really nice mod! Love the models and texture of pewter
