After some more testing, it works in SP, I suspect the friends server I am joining with its many mods one of them must be responsible for something overwriting the behaviour. Wish I knew what it was -.- .

So this doesn't revert the hands back to pre-1.19 hands?  It just hides the hands but the new motions for the hand items are the same?

Big thanks. Gonna try it out and hopefully it would feel right. The new hands kinda annoy me. I wish there was a setting to use old way of hand render. In fact it similar to the immersive first person view thing (which has its own toggle box in the settings!), however new hands somehow looks much worse than immersive mode. If immersive first person didnt have headache inducing head bobbing that you cannot disable i'd prefer it over new render.
