This mod is obsolete. Mushroom damage values were changed so that, other than the deathcap, none are deadly.

I've died twice in my world: once to a sheep, and once to a mushroom. This mod is for anyone hoping to prevent a similar experience. All mushroom damage is reduced. Deathcaps usually inflict 40 damage (more than 2× player health) but this mod brings that down to 10 (⅔ player health), and all other mushrooms will do less damage too.

I am assuming that you got a mushroom, saw something like "death cap" or "funeral bell" and thought... oh this seems safe. Couldn't you just... not eat the mushrooms that kill you?

croqaz the mod isn't made for newer versions. This is because, in addition to me being lazy, the game team updated the damage values of mushrooms and I feel that this mod is no longer needed. However, this mod was very easy to make, and if you have a suggestion for the damage values, I'd be happy to do it.
