Does this play nice with "XSkill Fork" for the skills that increase harvest rates and enemy loot drop amounts?
Does this affect enemy drop rates? I had like 6 surface drifters drop temporal gears within a few hours of eachother. If not, dang I got that luck on me.
Also, there seems to be a bug where enemy corpses will sometimes instantly dissapear when you click to harvest them, skipping the actual animation. Small issue, but a bit immersion breaking with how common it is.
Other than that, a new must have mod for me!
The mod does not change drop rates. It simply bypasses the UI window - it's a very simple mod, just a few lines of code.
I haven't experienced the animation issue nor heard of it reported before, but if there are specific NPCs or scenarios where it can be replicated, let me know and I'll try to reproduce.
@egocarib I haven't found many temporal gears since making this comment, so I guess I really was just extremely lucky there for a bit lol.
For the animation issue, my guess is that its a vanilla bug with how skinning is handled. If you whack a drifter corpse with a Falx once or twice, it will get destroyed. So I imagine there are edge cases where the corpse receives damage right as it dies, or damage somehow overflows onto the corpse from the killing blow. So when you go to skin them, it either updates the corpses state, or there was only a sliver of health left on the corpse, so it appears to be skinned instantly.
Idk anything about how skinning works under the hood, so this is all just a guess. Either way, I dont think its an issue with your mod, just some vanilla jank being made more apparent. Still, I can try to do some testing when I get around to playing again.
That bug happens to me in vanilla, nothing to do with mods. Funnily enough it's the whole reason this mod got my attention because it seemed like a workaround to the annoyance of drifters getting instantly skinned but still having to deal with corpse inventory.
Absolutely essential mod!
Working well on 1.22 for me! Thank you egocarib this is exactly what I needed :)
kirtini egocarib Working on the full release?
thanks for the update! :]
thank you so much! i was so worried i'd have to leave this behind when i switched to the new update
Added a new version of the mod for VS 1.22+
Enjoy!
I updated the 1.0.3 mod file to officially mark that it works on 1.21.*
Hopefully that resolves any issues with "updaters", though I don't use them.
Will test on 1.22 this weekend to determine if a new version of the mod is needed. It probably will be necessary to recompile due to the net 10 upgrade.
Works fine on 1.21.6, but updaters etc. will state this mod has issues / is not compatible with 1.21.x series. Author should really do their due diligence. Otherwise, users may want to consider mods https://mods.vintagestory.at/rustdrops or https://mods.vintagestory.at/show/mod/17311 instead.
I can confirm this DOES work on 1.21.5. Have been using it on private server for months.
Hey guys, asking if this mod still works for 1.21.6? Also, does this mod work with Butchering by CaptainOats?
please make 1.21.5 version
Still works for me on the latest patch.
is here possible do not harvest monsters with knife? cause it isnt beast which flesh we wanna take..
Dosent work on 1.21.1 for me.
Does anyone know whether dead rust monsters can be destroyed in vanilla by hitting their corpse? I have only tested with this mod installed and it destroying the corpse on hit does not happen every time. I am not sure whether that's due to the mod or to EntityBehaviorRipHarvestable.
Edit: it seems like it fails to destroy the corpse when it was hit once during the death animation. It must be a vanilla bug.
Absolutely lovely mod! I'm reporting a small bug where there are times that (if there's no drops) and I start the cutting animation it instantly breaks the mob. There is no time spent actually cutting.
osayra works fine for me
does this still work for 1.21.1?
- It works great for me as well, forgot to edit my comment
dorn284, rc.2 - Fixed: Attacking drifters/shivers/bowtorn with a falx would sometimes open their inventory on death.
But. But most likely there is another condition.Falx is still tearing corpses apart.
⭕ Feature: Monster autoharvest! The falx now extracts 1 drop per hit with a 25% chance from drifters, shivers and bowtorns (overall drop rate remains unchanged). There is a reason a falx blade is curved!
⬆️ This is most likely the reason.
@dorn284 I think the latest update is doing that.
Anyone else having it where when they hit a mob, the mob sometimes drops their drop?
Or where a killed entity just suddenly deletes its own body, like it was harvested?
Or where sometimes the body is there, and its instantly harveted?
I'm not sure what is causing it, because the only thing I have that touches loot should be this mod... Unless Rustbound magic somehow is affecting things.
Ive checked modded creatures and works with them as well. JUST to clarify for others cause its missing in description, THIS MOD WILL WORK WITH ANY CREATURE THAT USES VANILLA HARVESTING MECHANIC, so basically every creature mod out there...
1.21.0-pre.3 still works.
Very simple and very useful after a serious fight.
My favorite mod. I can't play for a long time without it. Thanks for this mod.😻
I've tested and confirmed the mod works with Bowtorn and Shivers. There is probably an incompatibility with another mod you are using. Any mod that uses the normal game inventory and drop system will be compatible with this mod.
It's possible that significant overhaul mods that add unconventional methods of item dropping or other ways of overriding creature inventory behavior may not work with this mod.
I have noticed that it does not seem to work with Shivers and Bowtorns, only the Drifters. Do you know of any specific mods it may conflict with? Combat Overhaul? Level UP? Just wondering if it might be conflicting with something.
RomixERR - I don't use XSkills, but this mod uses the base game's item drop code to drop items. If XSkills has its own custom code used to generate item drops, it's possible the two mods won't work together as expected.
wojtek16 - This mod works with any base game creature and most modded creatures.
Just making sure, this works with shivers and the other guys? lol
The mod does not work properly with the Marauder skill in Xskills. Tier 0 mobs without mod sometimes give a rusty or temporal gear when cutting. With your mod they give extremely rarely. Conducted tests on 120 drifters 0 tier.
tauceti2114 Make sure you fully uninstalled any previous version(s) of the mod that you were using. That error generally means another copy of the mod is floating around somewhere
If this hasn't been tested with Butchering mod I will give it a go and see if it causes any odd behavior.
I have skinned a rabbit successfully with the way butchering mod provides.
Field dressing a dead rabbit works as presented by this mod.
Picking up a dead rabbit and relocating its body dissables harvesting. (I believe this is because picking it up "gives" the carcass over to the butchering mod and it is no longer a vanilla entity)
Still working fine in 1.20
Good to hear. I'll test and release a verified update after the official 1.20 version drops just to be sure.
I can confirm with some confidence that this mod does work with 1.20rc1. It's a must-have!
egocarib Hi! Nice mod! Are you planning to update this to 1.20? Thanks in advance!
An issue I just ran into in the base game that this mod amplifies: Auto-pickup will place temporal gears in your off-hand even if you have plenty of space in your main inventory. Considering that this then changes the default knife behavior to using the gear as opposed to butchering a corpse, you can see how this becomes an issue in hectic situations like a temporal storm.
Not sure if it's within the scope of the mod to change that behavior, or if it should be a suggestion for the base game. It's ultimately still an issue there, but the loot inventory screen makes it a little bit harder to miss.
Blows my mind that this isn't vanilla content yet.
Pretty sure the latest version will work on any 1.19.* version, but let me know if that's not the case.
Will it work on 1.19.3 egocarib?
MimiKitty It will work exactly like vanilla with any bonuses or other effects. This mod simply bypasses the inventory UI window and changes nothing else.
does this change which traits get bonuses for looting it? does loot bonus work on it or does harvest bonus work in it?
Just here to mention the issue people were having with fish, if its winter and you have harsh winters enabled fish micght spawn with lower weight, as fish only drop one piece of fish it means sometimes you get nothing if the fish is underweight. Its a vanilla issue and has nothing to do with any mods.
do i still need to go though the harfsting amashion or just right click with a knife ?
Crash 1/5 times...
Will this work in 1.18.8 (.net 7)??
The mod in its current state is better than the proposed changes, because the loot should spawn idle at the corpse's location and not be tossed with momentum from the player's location.
egocarib My idea is:
All of this can be done client side, client won't even notice that window is opened and closed
Craluminum - The source is GNU license, so technically you may do as you please. However, if you want my opinion, I think it would be more respectful to submit a merge request to the original repository so that I can update this version with your proposed change and add you as a contributor.
If i fork it and make it client side, can i upload it by almost the same name?
Craytone - you'd have to ask the XSkills author or figure that out yourself. XSkills isn't open source so I can't easily check what it does, and I don't use it.
Can you confirm if XSkills is compatible with the skills bonus rewards?
This mod is wonderful, especially in tense moments (temporal storms, caves) where you want to loot drifters fast and not waste time in the GUI. Good job!
DonZekane - Looks like it's normal for fish to have no meat sometimes. I tested both with and without the mod and I get some with meat and some empty both ways.
More generally speaking, the mod doesn't alter creature drops at all, it just bypasses the inventory GUI, so nothing should change from vanilla.
Killed like 3 fish in a row and got no... well, fish. I'm using the commoner class and don't have any mods or settings that would alter drops. Unless vanilla (unmodded game) has a chance to just not drop any fish from fish, I've just found a bug.
would it at all be possible for an individual client to toggle this off in a multiplayer server?
Sorry, I misunderstood how the mod works. Used one that makes mobs drop items right after death (without harvesting), and thought this one works the same way.
It should already only work for the player. Only the player can harvest corpses as far as I'm aware.
Can this be set to work for only certain enemies/creatures or only for the ones killed by the player?
