Welcome to Harpwner's Mechanical Revolution!
This mod aims to expand the current mechanical power system by adding more methods of generating power (that are balanced! No water wheels!) and adding more utility to the systems.
This build contains the Aeolipile, an old Greek steam toy which can be used for very low torque mechanical power, and a Watt Engine, the a very slow atmospheric steam engine that produces much more torque than anything in the game!

Gepard thanks for the idea. Given the current state of mechanical power, I am not sure this is possible, but I can certainly give this a try soon.
JTippetts sorry for not replying sooner. I did not intend for any paths to be hard coded, and will have to fix that. Is it causing any issues during gameplay?
I have been absent for a bit. I've been moving around a lot, and have actually swapped out my C drive recently. Because of this, some of my local changes have either been lost or are on a separate drive, so it's going to take me some time to get back into the swing of things. I have also pursued some side projects in the mean time on the new system as not to fall out of work completely! Expect some updates as soon as I can get my development environment back up and running.

I've been waiting for a mod like this, which adds an "ancient steam engine". Respect, but the fact that you can't stack these engines in a row bothers me a bit.
The flywheel is connected to the swingarm by two racks, but it could be rigidly connected using a bearing.
It could be a different crafting. Thanks to this, it would be possible to connect the flywheels one after the other.
I am sending an advanced sketch made in Paint 😋
P.S Can you create the large wooden cogwheel but vertically?
@Harpwner I've downloaded and installed the mod (can't really try anything yet since I'm still early in the game, but I'm eager to try it out) but I've noticed a few "Texture not found" errors in the log for the Watt Engine parts lever_arm, bracket_item, flywheel_section and piston_casing due to hard coded full paths to textures in the base game (eg "brass1": "/Users/HARPWNER/AppData/Roaming/Vintagestory/assets/survival/textures/block/metal/sheet/brass1" ).
Ratchet I can try to post one, but be aware there is a handbook entry for the Watt Engine.
Harpwner Any chance of getting a tutorial video posted someplace? I love this idea of another power source other than windmill but like others have stated, looks a bit confusing. Thanks in advance.
love this new update, watt engine is awesome and makes you work resouce wise
Figured out what was causing that issue, going to put a bugfix update out in a moment.
this new update mess with the vanilla boilers as you can't place wine in the boiler nor make fire under it
A mod video would be nice...unfortunately I don't understand how to set it up and use it. But maybe I'm just too stupid
The source on GitHub doesn't seem to have JSON assets, I can't contribute because of this😥
Posting an update now with a Watt Engine handbook entry, will be refined further in the future.
What are the names of the items themselves? "Watt Engine" doesn't bring up anything. We've found the flywheel but we can't figure out what the other items are.
It would be great if you make all items in the mod GroundStorable, e.g. to allow to lean them against walls like every vanilla tool does
Is it possible to make an Aeolipile that works vertically? I think this would look great underneath one of my powered mixing bowls. ;)
Looks dope.
Went ahead and reversed the Aeolipile direction, that way it meshes with the windmill instead of fighting it.
You should replace the two copper ingots in the recipe with the soldering iron (6 durability) and 6 soldier.
Hmm, this seems like a perfect companion for my autosifter mod.
I'll be sure to give this a shout-out on my page.
