fairstickrecipe-1.2.0.zip 1-click install

Saw + firewood = 1 stick.

Saw + 3 boards = 1 stick.

Saw + log + axe = 4 sticks.

Why not more? I think it makes the game too easy.

Why a saw instead of just an axe? I think it makes the early game too easy.

*DISCLAIMER* If you are trying to make wooden paths, put the saw in any other crafting slot but the top. If you put it in the top, the crafting recipe for sticks will be prioritized and you will waste your boards.

Definitely agree that if there was some "knapping" of boards/logs/whatever a higher yield of sticks would be justifiable. Like you said, in-grid is to easy for a high yield. Maybe I'll try and make that my next mod :) Thanks for the idea.

Also, thank you for the reference. Will 100% check it out and attempt a fix with the conflict!

Oh also this mod could be referenced for the grid/ path situation and will help with a lot of mods that conflict with recipes

just an fyi

I'd like to say I appreciate this mod the way it is, 1 stick for a log.. There are mods like dappled grove that I would be ok with the ratio because the processs required is immersive, but i do not like the stack of sticks for an axe mechanic.  there is a mod for that already out there anyway, and this is the only conversion mod i will use do to the 1 to 1 ratio.  If you ever add an actually in game immersive mechanic for cutting that takes some grinding in the loop I could see the justification of better return. as is in grid I think this is perfect.

Thanks for the mod!

Good point, but I like having the option to use materials you already have readily available. Usually you have a stockpile of logs or firewood somewhere in your chests, so if you don't feel like going out and using the shears you can just use the saw and be done with it. All personal preference, really. BirthdaySkeleton

I feel like by the time you have a saw to make sticks, you would have already solved your stick crisis with shears, no? I understand not wanting to ruin the grind of the start of a world, but by the time youre able to craft sticks, you normally have an abundance of them anyway. QuandaleNigel

DUCATISLO I don't agree, I think allowing an axe to craft sticks negates the slow grind of the start of a world, making it so you skip an essential part of the early progression: running around looking for stuff when you need it. By the time you have a saw, you should be established enough that running around and looking for sticks isn't an essential part of your daily routine, but an annoyance getting in the way of what you want to do. I wanted to be able to craft sticks without getting rid of that early struggle, and without giving myself so many sticks that it trivializes the gameplay loop. That's my line of reasoning for the mod being the way it is :)

If you prefer, you can go into the /VintageStory/Mods/fairstickrecipe-x.x.x folder, then click through /assets/fairstickrecipe/recipes/grid/, where you should see "stickrecipe.json". Double click that to edit; if you don't have a text editor already chosen you can just choose Notepad. Click to the right of "code": "game:stick" and place a comma (it should look like this -> "code": "game:stick",), then press enter to create a new line. Type "quantity": X, where X is however many sticks you want crafted from one firewood and a saw (in your case, 4, so "quantity": 4). That should do it for you! (After mod ver. 1.1.1: for the log and axe recipes, just change the values of "quantity" that are already there to your preference. No need to add anything besides what I said before).

Hope this helps!

id say make it 2 for axe and 4 for the saw

just saying

💬 QuandaleNigelAuthor, Dec 10th 2024 at 7:49 AM

Should be fixed now

Foxs, thanks for letting me know! Glad you enjoy the mod.

Mithbot open fairstickrecipe-1.0.0.zip, there will be a folder inside, open the folder, copy the contents (assets, modinfo, modicon), go back outside the folder (inside the zip file) and paste it.
The mod owner uploaded it wrong.

QuandaleNigel Could you fix it? Great and balanced mod btw.
