What is this?
It's a bike.
Why does it go in the inventory booster slot?
It's too large to fit into your inventory.
Can you place it?
Yes! It's ground-storable!
How fast is it?

Actually, yes! I wanted to add slots but didn't feel like modelling a basket on it.

Yeah it would, in fact, all inventory boosters can be ground-placed!

Only if you take E.T. with you.

Maybe, but it would cost some sort of fuel.

It's like a regular bike it's twice as fast.

You can buy a gold bike from Luxuries traders for 50 gears.
That's REALLY expensive!
And to think, it's selling for a loss.
Is it any better than the Deluxe bike?
Not at all, but it does make for a pretty nice flex.
These are just recolored normal bikes.

Why don't the better bikes have inventories?
Because of a glitch that allows empty bikes to go in inventories.
Could I add my own bike?/I don't like the values. Please add a config :(
You can make any block/item a bike with the "biketopspeed" attribute in JSON.

Rework in process: Bike will be upgraded to Better Bike, and you will be able to properly ride them as a vehicle.
WASD to move. You move twice as fast forward as you do reverse, and your steering gets tighter the faster you go.
Space to jump, this has a cooldown. While midair you get the ability to move your handlebars freely allowing for hairpin turns.
Sprint to wheelie: This will make you go faster but jump half a block instead of a full block. You also lose the ability to steer.
Riding Music: Going on a bike plays a medievalized cover of the Pokemon bike theme. I checked, it's legal.

Hunger Drain: Speeding up and jumping should cost hunger points.
Drifting: If you land from a jump with your handlebars at an angle, you will enter a drift.
Mini Turbo: Hold a drift for a certain amount of time and when you let go you get a speed bonus.
Bunny Hop: You jump with no cooldown if you stay put while in a wheelie. This has no purpose but it lets you spin quite fast.
Face Planter: Colliding with an enemy or rock will deal damage to the bike, the enemy, and will launch you off the bike.
Advanced Bikes: Better controls, and faster. Crafting exclusive to the clockmaker, but can be purcased from a trader.
Mach Bike: Very fast and weak drift but poor steering and a bad jump. Not ideal for exploring but great for flat terrain.
Mountain Bike: Relatively slow but amazing jump and handling with sharp drifting.
Extra-Terrestrial Bike: A friendly drifter in your bike basket allows you to fly. [Creative only]
Needs Falx Blades on the wheels, like an ancient chariot, to insta-kill mobs and auto-slice 'em up for their loot on the way past... I'd ride THAT for a dollar! LOL
Ran a server with about nine other folks with this mod. After coming to grips with it, I cannot fathom playing the game ever again without this robust tool in hand. 10/10 would bike again.
Well I didn't end up doing that. What I did end up doing was defining bike bonuses in JSON.
Now instead of relying on a hard-coded method, it just checks for the existance of the "biketopspeed" attribute tag.
This also means that non-coders can adjust the balance of the existing bikes or add their own simply through a single JSON tag.
Considering nerfing the bike to slow you down (by 20%) while worn but not selected, and only apply the full speed bonus while you are being boosted by a path.
You would only get a small speed increase (10% and 20%) while riding on non-path/paver surfaces. Still faster than running but not just a free massive speed bonus.
The current implimentation makes exploring new areas too easy and the speed bonus is a bit too high in hilly terrain where it's more annoying to deal with speed.

This mod is actually *why* I made lantern. The tiny light range made it hard to travel at any reasonable speed without bumping into things.
My design philosophy is to act boldly and cause problems, and then come up with creative solution to those problems. It leads to the most interesting development.
OMG, now I CAN add lantern to bike?
Luxury/Deluxe bikes will now produce light at range if lantern is installed.

Finally, something to spend all my worthless gears on other than filling my stone huts with chandeliers.
Seriously tho, great mod.
I find that jumping is a little too powerful and going up blocks is annoying.
If I ever decide to redo this I would give bikes auto-step and disable/nerf jumping.
Would also give it some time to get on/get off so you can't use it to chase down animals.

new update adds two new bikes.
Deluxe Bike: It contains a light and goes really fast. Made of steel and can only be made by the Clockmaker.
Luxury Bike: Gaudy and tasteless. It's a deluxe bike which you can buy from a Luxuries trader for 50 gears.
Weird mechanics but props for putting this together!
