Does what it says on the tin.

The game considers any enclosed space up to 14x14x14 blocks in size a room. A room can be a greenhouse or a cellar (or both). In vanilla, cellars are rooms that are at most 7x7x7 blocks in size. This mod simply removes that size restriction.

There is also a new debug command to show the status of the room you are currently in: /debug rooms status
This will display the size, cellar rating, and whether the room is a valid greenhouse.

Compatibility

A Note on Compatibility:

This mod works by setting the IsSmallRoom property of all Room objects to true. In vanilla, this property is only used for checking whether a room is a cellar. If another mod relies on this property for something, that functionality will also end up applying to all rooms.

Dust_Eh if you use planks, the room will probably not register as a cellar.  Planks are very poor insulating blocks. You have to use some kind of stone or dirt for the walls, floor and ceiling.

Also check your door type. Sleek and crude doors will not seal the room. Solid doors, iron doors and trapdoors will seal the room.

"You are not meant to hoard things"

...What? Did.. did you never make it past autumn? You know an entire mechanic is using fat to seal and hoard food for winter when animals are scarce correct?

💬 MikeisaGoob, Mar 8th at 5:28 PM

LunaGore You know there are more interesting building structures than a series of fucking cubes right? Also I have no clue what the fuck youre talking about in the second part of your comment but im gonna take a guess you dont play the game at all otherwise you wouldnt make stupid dipshit comments like that. Newsflash storing grain and vegetables underground neither defeats nor replaces the need to get meat and dairy both for my diet and crafting dumbass.

Jamac did you find anyting on the custom room size front?

💬 LunaGore, Feb 25th at 7:49 PM

MikeisaGoob You know you can put doors between cellar cubes right? You're not really meant to hoard things otherwise it defeats the purpose of going out and hunting or breeding animals.

Ive made a fully enclosed box and ran the command to check and its still showing Red, none of my rooms are rooms appartently. is this a mod issue? because im pretty sure that the 5x5x5 box that is a complete box should be a room and im eiter missing something or an idiot. Please help im about to crash out

Unbelievable I even have to mod this in. What kind of idiot game dev limits cellars to a tiny 7x7 cube in a game where they are a core gameplay mechanic is beyond me.

Lord_Zys Doors decrease cellar rating, and by a greater amount when open. See this wiki page for an explanation of the mechanic.

Greetings! In the creative world, I decided to test the cellars on different sizes. I used the /debug rooms status and /debug rooms hi command`s in vanilla and got the following results:
The room is 13x3x11
 cellar rating 100%
The room is 7x3x7
 cellar rating 100%
The room is 7x3x14
 cellar rating 100%
Room 7x3x14 (with a partition and an open door in the middle dividing it into two rooms 7x3x6 and 7x3x7)
cellar rating 96.6% and 96.2%
I'm a bit confused by this)😅

Snowfious Glad you like it! And thanks for the suggestion, but I don't plan on adding any new functionality into this mod. The vanilla game has no concept of what is a "house" vs a cellar other than the size limit. If you built a house that is within the 7x7x7 in vanilla, the game will always consider it a cellar.

💬 Snowfious, Jan 27th at 1:34 AM

Hi there, while I do enjoy this mod, you might want to look into somehow making it check either walls, roofs, etc., to make it a "house" instead of a cellar. I have a house, that is within the 14x14x14, but it shows it as a cellar.

💬 Jamac , Jan 21st at 12:10 AM

Updated the mod - just added a new debug command to check room status

💬 Jamac , Jan 20th at 10:15 PM

I just verified, this still works fine on 1.20.1

💬 Javes, Jan 20th at 5:23 AM

I hope this doesnt require an update for 1.20.

💬 Jamac , Nov 25th 2024 at 10:33 AM

ThirtySix C41N good suggestion - I'll see if it's possible to change max room size. If so then I think my goal would be to have all the max sizes configurable by the user, since it will affect performance.

💬 ThirtySix, Nov 24th 2024 at 4:16 AM

would it be possible to add the ability to make larger rooms as well? feel kinda hampered with it, feeling forced to make small rooms or not get an insulated room

💬 C41N, Aug 11th 2024 at 1:06 PM

Can you make a mod to make bigger rooms?

💬 Mendall, Jun 1st 2024 at 4:23 PM

So I can make one big room out of glass and have a home, a cellar, and a green house all in one ;)

💬 Chavajoth, Jun 1st 2024 at 6:29 AM

Oh, I see. Thank you!

💬 Jamac , Jun 1st 2024 at 3:11 AM

Both, I guess. The game considers any enclosed space up to 14x14x14 blocks a "room", and by default any room with a volume less than 150 blocks is a cellar. This just removes the volume restriction, so any room is a cellar.

💬 Chavajoth, Jun 1st 2024 at 2:48 AM

Wait... does it make cellars bigger, or does it make anything a cellar?
