Overview

(kind of) As it says on the tin. Made this mod for our multiplayer server but it should be useful for anyone.

Allows in-barrel crafting of dough by disabling vanilla ale barrel recipes and then adding custom barrel recipes for flour -> dough -> ale.

Recipe

Recipe ratio is exactly the same as vanilla crafting with buckets or bowls, 1:1 water:flour ratio gives you 1 dough; however, the water is not consumed.

You can only process up to 50 flour into dough at a time in the barrel.

Like with limewater, sealing not required and the recipe happens instantly.

After the flour becomes dough, the dough can be sealed to convert into ale if desired.

Other

May add more screenshots later. Very rough mod icon as thumbnail here because I slapped this together in 10 minutes.

This mod should be backwards compatible as far back as whenever the applicable flours/doughs and barrel recipe system have worked the way they do, but I can't test this, so the stated version compatibilities are 1.19.* and 1.20.*

2.0.0

  • Disable vanilla ale from flour barrel recipes
  • Making dough from flour with water in a barrel will not consume the water, meaning that a water-filled barrel can be continuously used for making dough
  • Made dough craftable into cider/ale in the barrel with the vanilla water:ale ratios; once dough is made in a barrel, it can then be sealed with no extra effort to turn into ale

- Initial release adding the main feature

Note: do not use this version! It is effectively non-functional, but leaving it here for posterity.

Mackeroni

There isn't one I'm afraid. You could potentially just go into the mod's patch and change the recipe as a stopgap.

I could add something eventually, but it's not at the top of my mind right now unfortunately.

Is there a config to enable the water being consumed? Why, yes! I AM a masochist.

Thanks, this is really just a quick patch though. Lithocraft is my main mod, which I spend most of my modding development time on.

1.20 is still a while away from a full release though and it will take mod devs a while before major mods are properly ready for 1.20; I myself will likely stick with 1.19 for a while for that reason.

I only added compatibility for it on this mod because I feel fairly confident that it will work fine. I agree that auto-updating mods would be a useful feature to have at times, but I would honestly prefer to have saveable/loaded mod profiles even before that. 😆 FireFrost

Thanks for the update!

It was a vanilla thing I missed. Will upload a fix imminently that creates a reasonable workaround.

2.0.0 is now released and fixes my oversight by creating a workaround.

Now with the mod, flour + water in a barrel makes the dough as expected, but does not consume the water. The dough can then be sealed in the barrel to turn into ale, then consuming the water, so that a process still exists for creating ale indirectly from flour.

niiice! Good immersion mod! Thanks a lot!

Realised while playtesting this together with EF that flour with water can be turned to ale in that case (unless it's a vanilla thing I missed) but either way I'll try to find a resolution for this at some point.

Thank you for making this!

First release. It literally adds one recipe file. If you somehow come across any issues, please do leave a comment.

If there are any new modded flours/doughs that aren't covered by this, I would probably be willing to add a patch for compatibility.
