Latest file for v1.20.0-rc.1:
autoatlas-1.1.1.zip
1-click install
Temporarily increase the texture atlas size and max # of animated elements.
The atlas size and animated element limits are configurable in ModConfig/autoatlas.json
.
Config options:
Key | Default value |
MaxAtlasSize |
8192 |
MaxAnimatedElements |
230 |
Does not permanently change the game's settings, and does not require restarting the game so it works when auto-downloaded before joining a server too.

I adjusted this to hard set Max animated Elements to 230. https://mods.vintagestory.at/show/mod/16652 .
I had an issue installing it on the server side, and several clients' default settings were 56, preventing them from joining.
Thank you for taking the time to put this together. I look forward to seeing a patched version so I can deprecate mine.
MaxAnimatedElements default value should be updated to 230 for game version 1.20+
Users of this mod may be able to fix that in
ModConfig/autoatlas.json
if the mod author doesn't release a 1.20 updateAbsolutely perfect, thank you for this mod!

Can we have a version of the mod that sets it up to 4096 instead of 8192?
Just for my friends with potato PCs that just need a little extra atlass size.
NOTE: We are running 1.19.7, and found out this mod fixed a lot of crashing for my friends that have a new install of the game, and a lower atlass size by default.

I just used it to solve an issue that I'm figuring was that I had too many mods adding too many textures, so they were showing up wrong/offset/shared on blocks. This seems to have fixed it!
is this still useful in v 1.19 onward?
It recreates the texture atlas at the bigger size when the mod loads, theres no fancy texture magic. It should be equivalent performance wise to setting the atlas size using the game's config.
Does this cause a certain stutter sometimes? Just curious if it's this reworking the textures in the background or something else.
