Latest file for v1.17.8:
arrowrecovery.zip 1-click install

A 1-line fix which makes it so that arrows will drop 2.22 metal bits when they break, allowing you to recycle the metal into more arrows.
The drop rate was set where it was set so that on average you won't gain or lose any metal by recyling your arrows, it will be recovered.
If you have a smithing recipe which makes more than 9 arrows per ingot, you might want to tweak the return rate down a bit or you'll get overunity.

Flint and Stone arrows obviously won't give any drops because there is no such thing as a flint or stone metal bits but if you add metal bits of those types it will work.
Steel bits can't be smelted into steel ingots because I guess the developers forgor to add steel recycling in the bloomery like they did with iron.

just saying this work has of 1.19.3 and 1.19.4
if you want the arrowhead instead
replace the line with this "code": "arrowhead-{material}",

but kinda un needed since you can craft blister steel with the steelbit

IvanZS
The idea was to have it drop metal so that you would have to go through the effort of recycling them.
It's a single-line change if you want to make them drop arrowheads instead, just redirect the drops from 2.2 Metal Bits to 1 Arrowhead.

IvanZS makes a great poin just make it drop the head, then it will work with all arrows. truth to tell I always (even late game) only use stone arrows so I dont feel any need to try and find them. there too cheep to bother with. just carry a lot of them and let them fall where they may and move on.

Instead of dropping metal bits, the broken arrows can drop the metal arrow heads? It is usually the arrow shaft which breaks...
