This Mod contains various assets for building churches, temples, mosques, synagogues. There is more to come!

If you want to play this mod with vintage story 1.20 i recommend starting a new world and use version 2.10 (release imminent) of this mod. All versions below 2.10 are NOT compatible with vintage story 1.20. If you want to transfer your world from 1.19.8 to 1.20 and already used this mod, here is the guide how to proceed:

HOW TO UPDATE YOUR WORLD FOR 1.20 USING THIS MOD:

Update Age of Confession to 2.0.8 and launch your world in 1.19.8. Remove/recylce the following blocks: All roof blocks (from this mod), all narrow windows, all build component items, all wooden shingles, most of the torah ark curtains. You can see what blocks needs to be removed by looking at them, since there is a block description for all these blocks. 

Update your game and update the mod to version 2.10.

Regarding the memory consumption: I really dig into this and still don't know 100% what causes this issue. But the problem is really dependent on the system you are using. I can run the mod with 24GB Ram. I played this mod on my server with >100 mods over a year. There IS a massive increase in GPU and CPU usage due to the large amount of blocks this mod adds, but NOTHING i can fix. My understanding is, that this game can't handle such large mods very good currently (large= high block count). I burned out trying to find a workaround for this. So, whats the take away from it? You'll need a good setup to run this mod. Not only RAM but a good GPU too.

 

Erun I'm glad you found a workaround yourself. The build time of 2.5 seconds is hard coded currently, but you are right, i should make a config for all those things. I'm taking a break from modding right now though

hope the little pully on the side of the huge bell will work with roation someday takes a good while to ring it

also the huge bell feels a little small but LOVE the look of them! going to build a bell tower in my town to be anoying or to warn of temp storms

After extensive testing, and loading my 136 mods 1 by 1 this is the conclusion:

 

With this mod installed - RAM usage 26GB average.

With this mod uninstalled - RAM usage 12GB average.

 

I really hope this issue is resolved in future updates.

I have to join the chorus because I had no idea: this mod easily doubles the RAM that VS uses and if you are running a server, this mod alone eats up more resources than 111 other mods.  I thought VS was just memory demanding as it was recommended by a friend as a cool mod.  You wouldn't expect it, this seems to just be a decor mod, how much memory could it possibly use?  Well, we also had memory leaks on the client before which seem to have also disappeared.  So it might just be a memory leak causing these issues, but people would have trouble joining the server, especially on less than 16GB of RAM, and the same server now can use more mods and less memory.

To change the decay rate of roofing:

On Linux: unpack
.config/VintagestoryData/Mods/AgeOfConfession_2.1.4

 

name folder the same way:
.config/VintagestoryData/Mods/AgeOfConfession_2.1.4 (remove packed files, folder may be unpacked, it will still work as with any other mod)

Now modify
.config/VintagestoryData/Mods/AgeOfConfession_2.1.4/assets/confession/itemtypes/part/aocshingle.json

To change the decay rate:

here the thing is a lil bit more tricky as there are many recipes.
I had to find all the rafter recipes taking 4 planks as an ingridient and replace input/output quantities:

Hi there.
At the beginning great mod. I really do appreciate the amount of work one has to put into making such scale modification. Additionally it's almost always pro publico bono. Thanks for developing it.
I have a request tho (maybe quite a big one)
Can some config be added?
The rafters are craftable max by 4 (as far as I got at least.). To cover my castle with it... i need like 15 stacks. Good damn luck crafting it by 4 and then having to drag the book back on it's place... It's simply bad...
Yeah, VS is grindy but I respect my wrists.

Maybe instead of the recipe of crafting 4, 64 may be craftable? or at least 16? Maybe it can be put into the config?

Second thing is the aplication of shingles on the rafters. It takes time and a long one (not sure how long but feels like few seconds). Again puting it on anything bigger than a privy is a nightmare... Can it be configurable?

Third thing is aging of the stuff. The shingles will rot in two years.
Do I wanna go through all of that every two years of my game... Ok those are two years but even once is too much in bigger scale...
It made the roofs totally unusable for me... and it all can be configurable to be at least a bit less grindy...

Right now i've switched on another mod for roofs which i pity a lot :/

I'm not sure why, definitely could be because I am on 1.20.4, but this mod eats up 10gb of ram all on its own. I feel like that must be a memory leak or something. Just letting know.

Gate 3x3 (Oak, haven't tried the other variants of wood) has a bug with an invisible wall when you try to go from left or right side through it

This mod causes a tremendously high usage of ram, during my tests, the base ram usage of the game was about 7-8gb of ram, while using this mod doubles the ram usage to 16gb and after a few minutes of gameplay may often reach 29gb of ram used, in my case my PC has 32gb of ram which then causes the game to become unstable and freeze once in a while.

Is there any way to purge this mod entirely from a world? I believe it's causing a massive ram usage issue even after removing the mod from client and server, even though it wasnt used at all and no blocks were placed.

Do churches spawn naturally in the world? how are you supposed to get the double door gates? it says to break them with no recipie for crafting

There is a weird collision problem with the 3 by 3 gates, if you try to pass through an open gate inbetween two blocks it will block you completely despite there being nothing in the way. Passing through while inline with a block works however.

Having the same issue as @Annastasija . I tried loading this mod on my multiplayer server and was unable to connect. Also tried loadin it in a personal save and it would not let me load in.

Annastasija Try hosting the server on a different device. This mod takes a lot of ram, the server is probably overloading.

So, strange bug, This mod will not let my partner connect to our lan games, It just sits on the connecting to client instance, I have tested it multiple times with and without other mods. there is no error messages or anything, they just can't connect. It works fine on solo games though. No idea what the problem could be

Just thought I'd comment to let you know about a potential glitch I've been running into in 1.20.1. Occasionally some of the roofs I build lose their shingles for some reason? Only small sections.

 

Also, some types of wood gables are no longer able to be made for some reason? Including pine wood ones, the slanted gables.

very pretty decoration mod! the new roofing especially looks very nice and the underside of the roofing having detail is great to see, although i wish the book wasn't as expensive to craft, as it would be nicer to have earlier in the game.

bonus issue i found, the narrow door's opening animation goes in the opposite direction of it's hitbox (i did not check any other doors, not sure if it applies to anything else)
that door ain't right

Death_Angel make sure you place a narrow door (comes with this mod) inside the gap of the archway. The position of the door has changed slightly since the screenshot was made though.

I like this mod but you're missing a piece for Judaism. It's called a Bimah. It's the place you lay the Torah after removing it from the Ark (which you already have). It would be difficult to build an accurate synagogue evn in the middle ages without it.

Due to an engine limitation, I had to make a compromise. The collision box of a block cannot be outside its perimeter. On the one hand, I wanted to reduce clipping with the arches and at the same time keep the collision box easily accessible. That's why the door opens outwards and the collision box opens inwards. I think it's a better solution than before. At the moment I see no other solution than to rewrite the door class completely, which I will have to do one day to make three block wide doors. This is the interim solution

Love the mod! However, there is one thing with the doors that bugs me. If you open the vanilla doors, the "visible door" as well as the "interactable part of the door" open in the same direction. So you can always interact with the door while looking at it. The doors from your mod look like they are opening to one side, but the (invisible) part that you interact with opens to the opposite side. That means you actively have to look at the door hinge or just the opposite block from where the door opend to to close it again. Hope my attempt on explaining is somewhat clear.

Hey! I absolutely love your mod. However, the sheer size of it seems a bit indigestible for running it in multiplayer when I tried to add it to my gf's server. It would invariably result in loading times exceeding 30 minutes for me, so I figured I'd like to ask you for permission for making modular versions of your mod.
Of course, I could do it for personal use, but would you be alright if I uploaded the modules to the VSMDB by myself? For example, a standalone fork with just the arches, named something like ChaosPrinzessin's Arches, another one for roofs, etc

VincenzoDiNeva The crash is probably not directly related to this mod. Vintage story with mods consumes significantly more resources than without mods, especially this mod, as it adds a lot of new blocks. However, there are also other causes for a ‘System.OutOfMemoryException’. Please follow the link I sent you in the Discord forum. The snow roof error has nothing to do with this.  The bug a little more precise: Steep roofs consist of two blocks, whereby the lower one cannot currently receive a snow level (because there is a block above it)

Beautiful cosmetic mod, lots of great details and effort. I'm a bit disappointed that big gothic archways clip when doors are used with them, but it's not that bad. Overall really cool things to see in game!

Hi, sorry for the long answer to a simple question. The roofs are currently undergoing a complete overhaul. In principle, however, the roofs will at least require copper technology. It's not just about realism, but also about keeping the game challenging. Compared to clay shingle roofs, the wooden roof is significantly cheaper and easier to produce. That's why I'm trying to make it a little more difficult to get started with wooden roofs.

To get debarked logs, I recommend the ancient tools mod from Taska. There are also many other mods that do this, so I wouldn't want to write my own recipe. In the future, shingles for three roof blocks will be obtained from one log.

Maestro I think that would fit well. Asian-style roofs and archways are planned. I'm currently reworking all the existing roofs and unfortunately that's more complicated than I thought. Once this transformation is complete, I can simply add new roof shapes.

 

Dirty_Wizard Pagan religions have already been requested several times. I have collected a few ideas. Unfortunately, the next update will not contain anything like this except for special cellar hatches/trapdoors (pagan blood rituals must of course take place in the cellar). Two fictional religions with a connection to the vintage story are also planned. The Dave cult already has two items in the current version.

Oweyan No, that's not right. There should be a creative category called 'Age of Confession' in the current version. Also look on the right side of the creative GUI, since it's overlooked easily. If you still can't find it, please contact me on discord by clicking on 'Homepage' on this site.

 

The_Ancient_One This mod doesn't 'add' religions. Quote of the mod description: "This Mod contains various assets for building churches, temples, mosques, synagogues". A version without the religion specific items (9) would be possible BUT require a lot of work i don't like to invest. I could make the religious items optional when i add a mod config file at some point, but not in the next release. I have the mod enabled but none of the stuff is showing up in creative menu. It shows up in the handbook but not the creative menu, Is this intentional?

Emberborn I changed my mind after thinking about it for some time now. At first i thought the gothic arches had to be a higher technology level than the round arches hence the harder to get materials used in the recipe. But now i think about a recipe with cobblestone and polished rock that are not too cheap but allow gothic cobblestone and polished rock variants.

Really enjoying having these window options and door arches! I ended up completely redoing my base to include them. At some point, will all of the items have both cobble and ashlar block borders (I'm using cobbled walls, so the largest window looked odd with the ashlar at the top)? I would also love to see a rose window in this mod's style to complete a cathedral aesthetic. Thanks for all of your work on this - it's really beautiful.

Herr_und_Meister   Hi! I did not find any arches with missing recipe. Please list the archways you could not craft. Make sure, you have the latest version of the mod. When you have other mods installed, please send me your modlist. The inner wooden roof parts are coming, please be patient. Keep in mind, that they are not airtight and provide no sufficient shelter during winter. This is on purpose. Thanks for your feedback

SpacemanSpliff I'm glad you like it. I uploaded a hotifx. I'll rework the collision shapes and the room sealing behavior in the future, but for now all archways (even the open ones) are handled as solid block. i know this is quite a dirty fix, but i didn't have much time.

Unfortunate bug when working with this in survival, the Narrow Glass panels used for the arches are not counting towards sealing a space and calling it a room, can you please provide a fix?

It seems that most of the small archways are missing the recipe for crafting in survival mode. And the wooden roof is missing the inner edges. Would be awesome if you could add these. Thank you!

Shroom_Ghost Sadly that applies to all my roofs right now, as they have no snow layer. But they are coming with the version im working on (v.2.0).

Alatyr That is a really nice idea, that would be awesome. I thought of such mechanics too, but (Really big but) that requires coding and thats beyond my capabilities. Nethertheless with the next update (v.2.0) AoC becomes a code mod. I got help and we made our first steps into coding. So maybe some day we can have some nice gameplay mechanics.

Cpt_C0nfus3d I uploaded a hotfix. Are there still any errors? Unfortunately only vanilla wood works in the recipes for now. i might change it in the future

fipil Thanks! The mod should work on version 1.19xx aswell. At least Version 1.3.1. The next update will be a code mod. I'll try to make it work for 1.19 too.

Samino2 Yes, more wooden roof shapes are in the making. The next update brings one new religion and assets for acient temples. No release date yet.

Catulo  I experimented with seraph(human) shapes for buddha statues and wasn't happy with the result at all. i think the sames applys to your request regarding the crucifixes. Im not giving up, i just focused on something else in the meantime until i get better in moddeling.

Images of saints should be fairly easy, i'll add them to the planned features.

Johan_Horvat I plan to add assets for temples as well. As for the pagan religions, I've added 10 Celtic overlays for decoration in the upcoming version as a test. It's difficult to balance the transparency. However, I will not add statues of gods. I'll leave it up to the player to chisel statues.

Personally I think mods like these are in short supply when it comes to survival games like these. Religion has been part of human society going back over 40,000 years. It's only natural it'd be represented in some fashion. Y'all ever seen an ancient city without a temple? 

I hope this mod is expanded to include it's original content and more. I'd love to see early religion, pagan representation, and maybe some niche ancient pantheons. So many opportunities.

breeze108 I'll add more religions in future updates and adding more content to the four i added i version 1.0. The pali canon is actually a scripture belonging to the buddhist religion, written on thin wooden sheets.
