A simple patch which fixes an error in the drifter AI which was causing them to throw stones even in cases where it isn't warranted.
This is a fix imported from Better Drifters, for those who want that bugfix without all the other random stuff that mod adds.
This does not disable rock throwing, it only drops the action's priority to the bottom of the stack and makes any other action cancel it.
In other words, they will still spam rocks at you if you try and abuse their AI. They will only use it as a last resort when no other options exist.
The patch also syncs up the action to the animation so that the rock no longer appears a half second after the animation has already finished.
For people who find this mod offensive, I have made this one just for you.

Woah woah woah lets not get political here, this is just a funny little mod about reducing the amount of stones that drifters throw at you.
Any references to political events is purely coincidental. Block Drifters from throwing so many goddamn Stones is not in the business of making political statements.
The only political statement that Block Drifters from throwing so many goddamn Stones is willing to take, is that drifters throw too many goddamned stones.
I support BDS, strikes, protests, revolution, insurgency, and all other methods by which the world can fight apartheid and genocide. Right now Palestinian civilians in Gaza are being ethnically cleansed by the Israeli government on a scale unlike anything since 1948's Naqba. Everyone should fight to get their country to do what it can to stop Israel's mass murder of innocent human beings. End racial discrimination in historical Palestine!
Also, thanks for the mod. The game really needs a sound effect for when drifters throw rocks - it's very annoying to take damage out of the blue, especially when you can barely see the projectiles or interrupt their throwing animation.

Yes that's a flaw in how the AI handles actions. Basically it picks an option from the stack on a timer with the highest priority and if that action is on cooldown it will pick the next best action. So you approach in melee distance it will use its high-priority melee action, then since you're in range to do another melee attack it will attempt to melee again, but it will be on cooldown. This is why drifters will often use a melee attack and then throw a rock at you at point blank if you approach them in a way that doesn't let them use their rock.
I did test in game to see if the rock throwing frequency was actually reduced and it was. This patch solves the most irritating aspect of the drifters rock throw which is where they spawn in, get a cheap hit in before being killed and replaced by 4 more who do the same thing. Now they don't do that as attempting to close distance is a higher priority. If it fails (as a result of you being unreachable or if you're kiting it) then the AI will run out of other options and will be forced to use its rock.
They still throw stones at me even though they seem to have a clear path to engage in melee.
