To relieve a stone block, mine it using a chisel and hammer in the off hand

I presume that this allows for direct full stone block harvesting via a chisel in main hand, hammer in off-hand? (Normally you would remove all the blocks making direct contact [5 surface faces] with the stone to "relieve" it via wiki definition.)
I'm not sure what you mean by this, a screenshot might help.
