Wooden Chutes

by quihyr

"An inventive way for seraphs to move their items around, constructed from wood."

About:
A simple mod that adds various wood-typed chutes and hoppers, made from any wood. Plus, a basic wrench. (See screenshots.)
Wooden chutes transport items 25% slower than their copper counterparts, though not noticeable when using a quern-stone as input.

This mod includes the added rotations from More Chute Rotations, applied to wooden chutes only.
Has compatability with texture-pack mods, such as Opine Upon Pine, and others that change vanilla debarked wood.
(Tested in v1.21.6)

@LewdAngel: Any chance for a 1.22 ver?

Is the mod broken?
(i wish to understand why you are asking)

Zalfeon, Jun 9th at 12:30 PM

Love this mod is it posible to make this compatible with the True Archimedes Screw mod https://mods.vintagestory.at/show/mod/45960 just a thought.

quihyr darn, well I believe in you and if I somehow learn anything I'll be sure to try to pass that knowledge along <3 thank for your hard work regardless this is still amazingly useful <3

WireGuidedFemBoi, That sounds very interesting, though I'm afraid that is beyond my capabilities. You'd have to wait until said mods add that functionality.

Is there any chance these could be made to work with water sources? I really want to be able to use windmills to move water around for irrigation, and mods like Hardcore Water and Hydrate or Diedrate are both very close to almost doing this.

I suppose an actual water moving screw would probably have to be a bit bigger or different to work fully but the principal is all there.

Anyway thank you for your time

NeverKlever, Thank you for finding that, and providing an alternative. I'll add that to the next patch.
Edit: Upon further testing with the Food Shelves mod, the recipe doesn't necessarily conflict. The wooden wrench can be crafted in any 2 vertical slots, while the egg basket from Food Shelves is limited to the middle bottom.

NeverKlever, Mar 26th at 10:23 PM (modified Mar 26th at 10:24 PM)

The recipe for the wooden wrench it's the same recipe in food shelves for egg basket and the egg basket is needed to make the mushroom basket So if I have both of these mods I can't make an egg basket I was wondering if you could change the wrench recipe. my suggestion is board with flintknife

Stantis, If you're refering to chute sections, these cannot be placed and are just part of the crafting process of all chutes.
Most chutes can be placed down like any other block, and rotated using a wrench. But some (like the cross chute) require another chute/block connection.

Hope this helps. :D

Stantis, Mar 16th at 2:36 AM

How do you place these? I've tried right click, right click & shift, and right click and ctrl.

Joblerone, thank you for noticing, I've released an update to fix this issue!

Joblerone, Mar 15th at 6:44 AM

there's a recipe conflict between woodpath and the chute sections; saw on left side of planks results in 2x planks -> 1x wood path, suggest turning the recipe to be saw on right side of planks

Master_Story, they operate at the same flow rate in the initial release, thus making them purely cosmetic.
Though I could possibly make these operate at a slower rate than their metal counterparts. It's good idea, thank you!

Master_Story, Mar 7th at 8:09 PM

Do these opperate at the same speed as other metal chutes? or slower? If it's possible, could you add this function? Or only for use with grains?

If not, all good! But I'd love to have this be more of a design implement than purely cosmetic. Because this is an amazing mod!

Aljistar, Mar 7th at 7:29 PM

I like this. many many many windmills and such used wood chutes and hoppers. maybe if you can work in a cloth hooper for a lil options. do like a stick frame with the cloth funneling down.

DanaCraluminum, cause I decided to keep them in the same style as the other mechanical parts.
However, if there is demand for it, I'll conside more wood types for a future update.

DanaCraluminum, Mar 7th at 6:26 PM

Why they aren't wood typed
