🛡️ Swixy ClaimChunk

A minimalist visual claim manager that makes territory protection in Vintage Story fast and intuitive. Manage your claims on an interactive map: press P, no coordinates in chat.

ℹ️ What this mod offers

📍
Visual map on P
Open a map with a chunk grid overlay. Click a free chunk to claim the whole column instantly.
🎨
Clear chunk colors
Blue - your claims. Red - other players. Gray - free land ready to claim.
🔄
Click again to unclaim
Click your blue chunk a second time to release it. Reshape your land without extra menus or commands.
🧱
Full chunk, bedrock to sky
Every claim is 32×32 and the entire height - from Y=0 to the world limit. Mines, tunnels and houses stay covered.

📋 How it works

  • Press P to open the map
  • Left-click gray to claim
  • Click blue again to unclaim
  • 32×32 chunk grid
  • Full vertical column
  • Two clicks - and it's done

🎯 Perfect for

  • Protecting deep mines and tunnels from intruders
  • Stopping tunnels dug under your house
  • Claiming large builds without typing block coordinates

🔄 Compatibility

Vintage Story 1.22

Requires Vintage Story 1.22.0 or a compatible 1.22.x build. Install on both client and server so claims stay in sync. Uses the vanilla land-claim system - no extra claim plugins required.

hi, great mod !!!

Does it support hierarchy of claims ? E.g. big city claim  protecting public space, buildings etc. so no any player can interfere (break/place/open). And smaller claim INSIDE protecting individual buildings of individual players (allows individual players to break/place/interact.

Do you plan to raise resolution from full chunks to blocks level ??? Cos in a city if you want  to have big city claim with smaller players claims inside, the resolution  of full chunk doesn't really help to have narrow streets etc...

does claiming a chunk keeps it running on memory even after i'm far from the loading chunk area?

Yes. The mod does the exact same thing as the vanilla commands for claiming chunks.

Absolutely flawless UI and ease of use. Other modders take note of this one!!🥳 👏

Wow, this is by far the best mod design I’ve ever seen. The in-game window looks incredibly cool and stylish. Hats off to you! This mod actually made me rethink my own approach to designing UI windows.

Thank you, but this is not the final result yet. I think we need to raise the bar so that other developers can improve the quality of their mods.

Hi, it would be possible to add a legend in the permissions menu, or when hovering over the button. Could you add some sort of confirmation that you really want to delete the claim? It's instantaneous now, and it's easy to get confused.

Just wondering, is there a possible way you might be able to add priviledge for admins to edit trader claims? (Context: I have had to disable a claim in order to remove a tree that was blocking access to a trader bc we had a mod that would automatically plant dropped tree seeds after a set amount of time)

I love this, following to use on our server once it's more polished

MekhiNism, Jul 15th at 3:07 AM

Is there a way to allow other players to only traverse on your claim with this mod? (Like being able to open doors but not chests)

I've almost finished this functionality, and once I test it, I'll update the mod.

I love the mod! Congratulations. Just one question: how can I increase the claim limit? In the server settings, I have it set to up to 4, but when I open the Claim map, it only lets players claim one plot of land.

The fact is that the game only supports a limit in blocks, and you need to specify the number of blocks in a chunk multiplied by the number of chunks you want. A water chunk has 262,144 blocks

the game calculates the area claimed as m3,  so just need to have your mod calculate claimed space for the entire chunk, so easier for users to configure this without mathing it out themselves.

Starsunder, Jul 16th at 5:11 PM
@Kotl: My mod is not an independent privat system, but only a graphical shell for existing privats in the game.

Right, but you should be able to add a setting that edits it based on claim chunks vs the VS main server settings.

Your Mod Config =  20 chunks per user
VS Main server = Claim = X m3

Hi, the player's chunk limit lock isn't working. If I hold down the left mouse button, I can draw any number of chunks beyond the limit.

Can we get a pure clientside version that does the same thing but just runs the appropriate commands for us?

Kotl , Jul 4th at 10:01 AM (modified Jul 4th at 10:06 AM)
@LiothTheBrave: Can we get a pure clientside version that does the same thing but just runs the appropriate commands for us?

No, not in a proper/full version. A client-only mod could at most run chat commands on behalf of the player, but it would be heavily limited: without the server side it cannot reliably read claim state, check permissions, see owners/limits, or keep the map synced.

For the current functionality, the server-side part is required. I also suggested integrating my code directly into the game, but there has been no response from the developers yet: https://discord.com/channels/302152934249070593/402173001178677268/1521161848466968626

First of all, congratulations on the mod. Would it be possible to add a configurable option to the HUD so we can choose the depth and height of the claims?

Kotl , Jul 3rd at 6:54 AM

Such a case was not anticipated. The claim is applied to the entire chunk height, from Y=0 to Y=255.

Does it just use the fullheight command or does it specifically claim to 255? My world height is 384

Wait a little, I'm preparing an update where you'll need to specify the number of chunks instead of the number of blocks in the config, and it will adapt to your world height.
