Stone Quarry — Standalone Repacked

The Stone Quarry mod by DArkHekRoMaNT, repacked for Vintage Story 1.22 without the CommonLib dependency.

Why this repack?

It appears that DArkHekRoMaNT currently doesn't have the time or motivation to update his mods for VS 1.22. We love this mod — it's fantastic and we want to keep using it on our server. That's why I decided to make this repack.

I'm aware that there are already two forked repacks on ModDB by TiMMyyMMiT and Kurallier. Thank you both for your effort and work! Unfortunately, both of those repacks are done in a way that makes them incompatible with the original mod — meaning if you already have quarried stone blocks on your map, you would lose them. You would also lose them later when (hopefully) DArkHekRoMaNT returns to modding and I can happily archive this repack and go back to his original mod.

Features

  1. Compatible with the original Stone Quarry mod — if you have quarried stone blocks from VS 1.21 on your map, you won't lose them.
  2. Compatible with the original Stone Quarry config file.
  3. No CommonLib dependency — you don't need it to run this repack. I extracted all the parts of CommonLib that Stone Quarry needs and brought them directly into the mod. The reason is that as Stone Quarry repacks appear, various repacks of CommonLib appear as well, and I want to eliminate user confusion and the question "which version of CommonLib does this work with?". This repack simply doesn't need CommonLib.
  4. Works in both Single Player and Multiplayer.

Disclaimer

Once DArkHekRoMaNT returns to modding and revives his original version of Stone Quarry, I will archive this mod and encourage everyone to switch back to the original. The mod is compatible, so you shouldn't lose your quarried stones — in theory :-)

Credits

Thank you, DArkHekRoMaNT, for this amazing mod. We absolutely love using it, and that's the reason this repack exists.

Based on the original Stone Quarry — a fork of Quarry Works! for 1.15+.

Is this compatible with expanded matter?

Thanks for your work in bringing this to 1.22!

To be honest, I don't know. Just try it.
And thanks 🙂.

is there a way to spawn in a slab of a specific size and stone type? I lost mine in the update and would prefer not mine them again.

samandthe, May 26th at 9:56 PM

Does this work if I add it into a world later? Or do I have to start with it?

Dry_Taste, May 27th at 11:39 AM
@samandthe: Does this work if I add it into a world later? Or do I have to start with it?

You can always add or remove the mod, when removing make sure all blocks from the mod are destroyed or they will turn into white questionmark blocks. (which can still be removed and wont cause issues)

Issue with the rubble storage: it reacts incorrectly when loaded with stones of a rock type that doesn't have sand and gravel variants. Most easily observed with marble and halite.

Worse yet, if you use the rubble hammer, it just deletes the stones.

Hey this looks great but Im confused regarding compatibility. I know you say commonlib isn't required, but what should I do if I want to keep my old stone quarry slabs from previous worlds? Should I turn-off both the old incompatible stone quarry mod and commonlib? If I just turn-off commonlib, I get errors for dependencies on the old stone quarry mod. I know you say its "compatible" with the old stone quarry mod but does this just means old stone blocks wont get lost or that I should keep the old one enabled?

This fork is intended to be used on the VS 1.22 and higher. If you run this version, remove the old Stone Quarry mod, as it does not work with the version and use only this fork.
The compatibility means that if you have a map played on the VS 1.21 and you upgrade the VS to the latest 1.22 and load the map, you'll not lost the stone blocks quarried in the old map.

That one is a buggy port made using AI with little human involvement.

@Pineas: That one is a buggy port made using AI with little human involvement.

Aha, hmm, okay. I don't use the mod.
I'm sorry, but I don't really feel like taking over more mods from DArkHekRoMaNT that we don't use. I took over StoneQuarry because we actively use that mod on our server.

I took a look at the source and its not even that bad, most bugs likely transfered over from the original?

works great for me so far. you should either get over your bias, or just accept that you're not going to have that mod updated.

cryptagion, May 25th at 9:46 PM (modified May 25th at 9:46 PM)
@Pineas: Projecting much? I don't care about that mod, I'm just informing people.

I don't think you understand what projecting means. and as for informing people, you informed them wrong by saying the mod was buggy. it is not. and since you said you don't care about the mod, I'm assuming you don't use it, which means you lied because you have a bias against the use of AI and don't want people to use the mod. that's some pretty shady and juvenile behavior, and you should do better in the future.

You're being the juvenile and shady one by spreading lies about it being good to use. I assure you, it's completely unusable for multiplayer servers. Please for the love of god stop trying to start AI arguments, it's pathetic and nobody wants to read them.

you don't know that, because you don't use the mod.

nobody wants to read them.

then don't read them. you choose to respond because you feel defensive, because you know you're in the wrong here and you want to have the last word to make yourself feel less guilty. it's not my problem if you feel bad about lying. if you don't want me to respond to you, then stop commenting.

Full disclosure, I choose to respond because you won't stop responding and I don't know how to turn my notifications off on this thing.

Secondly, it stands to reason that I don't use the mod because it's unusable. The 1.21 version was functional. The AI port is not.

Bl0ckparty thank you.
Everest959 thank you for the information. Unfortunately, I cannot help you unless you provide more details, server logs, and similar information. The best option would be to create an issue on GitHub — click to the “Issue tracker” tab at the top.

Everest959, May 15th at 12:22 AM

I added this into my world but all my already placed slabs just appear as "Large Stone Slab" when they were chert before, it also doesnt let me extract anyblocks or stones from them, is there a fix?

Filpil,

thank you for the repack of SQ.  Could you please check if your process of adding the CommonLib functions internally could be used to update DarkH's "Helve Hammer Extensions"?

again thank you.

RiekoEbonstone thank you.
No, It will not work. I extracted only part of the CommonLib and I also changed its namespace to prevent some unwanted conflicts with the original CommonLib.

But you can try to use Kurallier's fork of the Helve Hammer Extensions: https://mods.vintagestory.at/show/mod/47627.
It uses a fork of the CommonLib made by sknnr: https://mods.vintagestory.at/commonlibforked

Could you add compatibility for Uranium Expanded? It's not high priority or anything but it's a bit silly that it doesn't let you make tools out of the alloys in that mod.

@Pineas: Could you add compatibility for Uranium Expanded? It's not high priority or anything but it's a bit silly that it doesn't let you make tools out of the alloys in that mod.

I’m sorry Pineas, but I don’t intend to further develop this mod or add new functionality to it. I am not the original author of this mod. I created this repack because the author indicated that they currently do not have much time or motivation to work on an upgrade for VS 1.22, and we really love this mod and want to continue using it.

I will maintain this repack in a working state and only implement changes necessary to keep it functional. However, I do not want to actively expand or develop it further, because I believe the original author will eventually return to modding and continue its development themselves.

Thank you for your understanding.

Alex_Greyfrost thanks for pointing out the missing text.
Fixed in the version 3.6.2.
I also added missing translations of the plug molds to the other languages. I used AI for the translations, IMHO it's already good enough for the task, but let me know if you find any translation mistakes, please.

Alex_Greyfrost, Apr 27th at 9:44 PM

The earthen orange splitter plug mold (pit kiln fired red clay) shows a block ID rather than the usual ingame item name, just a heads up

this appeared right as i was about to resort to vanilla stone releiving to get building supplies.  thanks!

fipil It's working now!! Thank you for the help!!!!

fipil , Apr 26th at 8:46 AM (modified Apr 26th at 9:58 AM)

X4v13RRR try the new version 3.6.1. Hope it helps. Let me know, please.

CremeFraiche The Kuralliel’s fork has assets namespace different from the original Stone Quarry mod. It means that if you created some stone blocks by his mod, it's different items/blocks than the items from the original and my mod repack, because it has differrent code. That's a reason, why Kuralliel’s fork is not compatible with the original mod.
My repack version uses the same asset namespace, so it should work with the items/blocks quarried using the original mod.
What do you mean by the "missing plug issues"?

CremeFraiche, Apr 26th at 2:25 AM

I had an issue where originally I had Kuralliel’s fork installed on the server and then switching to yours still had the same missing plug issues. Fine on single player but the server must have somehow saved the incorrect item names.

X4v13RRR, Apr 25th at 10:54 PM

yep, i loaded a world from 1.21.7 and it didnt load the stones and tools.

Redrussian86 and Hebb Are you sure? Didn’t you confuse this fork with Kuralliel’s fork?
I was testing it and there are Stone Quarry tutorials and  plug pages as well in the Handbook.

fipil , Apr 25th at 7:01 PM

Redrussian86 and Hebb, thank you very much for information.
I'll fix it, tomorrow.

Redrussian86, Apr 25th at 6:42 PM
