🏺 Stained Artifice

"Elevate your builds with artisanal light and medieval prestige."

Stained Artifice is a dedicated expansion for builders seeking to add a unique "artisanal" touch to their creations. Designed specifically to complement medieval, gothic, and ecclesiastical architectural styles, this mod brings new life to your windows through the ancient art of leaded glass.

✨ Key Features:

  • 🎨 Complex Artistic Motifs
Discover a vast collection of leaded stained glass with intricate designs. This isn't just colored glass; it's storytelling through light. Includes unique motifs like:
    • Celestial Compass 🧭
    • Clock of the Arborescent Dawn 🌳
    • The Great Mechanism ⚙️
    • Void-Stained Eternity 🌌
    • And more

  • 🧱 Seamless Rock Integration
Unlike standard glass, these windows are embedded in frames that adapt perfectly to your architecture:
    • 12 Rock Types: Full compatibility with Andesite, Basalt, Granite, and all other vanilla rocks.
    • 3 Finishes: Frames automatically match your walls in Bricks, Cobblestone, or Polished Rock.

  • 📐 Versatile Shapes and Formats
Break the square grid with various window geometries:
    • Standard: Square and Round versions (1x1).
    • Elegant: Vertical Rectangles (1x2).
    • Grandeur: Large Composite Windows (2x2), perfect for cathedral rose windows or grand hall openings.

  • 🛠️ New Crafting System
To craft these masterpieces, you will need to master new tools and materials:
    • Glassmaker Tools: The specialized kit required for delicate glasswork.
    • Lead Cames: Authentic lead strips used to assemble the glass fragments.
    • Pattern System: Discover and use specific patterns for each unique motif.

🚀 Planned Updates & Roadmap:

Stained Artifice is an evolving project! I am already working on future additions to expand your architectural palette:

  • New Geometries: More complex window shapes and sizes to fit even the most ambitious cathedrals.
  • Expanded Motif Library: A wider selection of artistic textures and historical stained glass designs.
  • Additional Frames: New frame styles and materials to match different building themes.

v1.0.1 - Bugfix Update - 2026-05-22

Fixed:

  • Stained glass windows now react correctly to the weather. The ambient sound of rain hitting the glass will only play when it's actually raining, instead of looping constantly.

Thanks! It’s really cool of you to suggest these designs. There are a lot of great ideas in there! I haven’t gotten back to working on the mod just yet, but I’ll definitely draw inspiration from some of your suggestions when I do.

Thanks for the feedback!

I had copied the 'sounds' settings from the glass block but forgot its class, so the "ambient" setting didn't work as intended.

Enjoy the game and the view of your garden. Feel free to post some screenshots in the mod's 'Discord' section, I'm curious to see your builds!

Yes, I definitely plan on adding more! I’d love to develop proper Gothic windows, but I still need to master the shape creation tools first. My first attempts weren't quite polished enough to publish yet—you can already see my current limitations on the larger curved designs, like the 2x2 round window, which isn't a perfect circle yet.

(Centerion ) I already have 1x3, 2x3, and 3x3 variants in the works... and potentially even larger ones. To make the mod more versatile and customizable, I’m also thinking about creating abstract, 'seamless' textures that could work regardless of the window's size or shape.

I must admit, I was waiting to see how the mod would be received before committing dozens of additional hours to it. I'm truly touched by the warm welcome—thank you all (yes, yes, all of you 😉)!

Laerinok do you plan on adding larger windows at some point? or more variations

And another AI coded mod, we really need a way to filter these out so people like me don't have to see them

What we need most of all is open-minded people
1: No, it's hand-coded (especially the JSONs). But yes, some parts can be checked and improved by AI.
2: The base for some patterns is possible, and they are adjusted and finished by hand.

AI is a tool just like any other, If you don't like it, feel free to just move on or go code it yourself.

whether the author used AI tools or not, if the mod itself is pleasing to look at, has proper functionality and doesn't break anything - why you would brand a person not worthy to post their mods? that's becoming ridiculous tbh.

yall are more than welcome to go ahead and make your own mod that doesnt use AI if your so against it, just hatin to hate isnt helpful

AI is just a tool, and coding aid is one of the few things it's actually good for if you know how to use it.

You cannot make good code even with AI if you don't have at least basic understanding of the language you're using.

I frequently use AI not to write code from scratch but to skip all the boring parts of writing, like putting down templates, beautification, and cleanup.

I personally wouldn't use it for something like video game modding, but I use it to make decorative userscripts for my browser to make some websites look more fun, and it works without flaw when there's genuine effort put into it.

Love your mods updater, easiest addition to the modpack yet and I had already considered the build finished! Keep doing amazing things for this game, cannot wait to stain some glass 😁

Pineas, May 12th at 3:10 PM

This is a fantastic premise for a mod, it's about time we had proper stained glass windows! They look very good and integrate into builds quite well.

I strongly suggest figuring out a framework for creating custom stained glass patterns. The presets are all beautiful, but offering players the option to create your own from scratch will elevate this mod to must-have greatness for modded builds.

Also maybe consider adding 3x3, 2x4 and 4x4 variants to cover all the basics. Larger scale builds could use larger window frames.

Thank you for the enthusiasm! It's much appreciated.
Indeed, I have other variants in mind; they will come. I already wanted to see how they look.
The idea of a framework has already been suggested to me, so I'll think about it. We'll have to see if it's within my capabilities.
